Because liver problems often show up in your feet, I explain the signs and symptoms to look for. For a full diagnosis of liver disease, please see your doctor.
Red and brown dots, which can also be shiny, can appear on the lower leg. This indicates poor circulation. It could also be diabetes, but you see this a lot in people with liver problems.
You may also see spider veins (spider nevus). This can be an indication of too much estrogen in the liver. If your heels are cracked, this is usually a vitamin B3 deficiency or an omega 3 fatty acid deficiency. One function of the liver is to make bile to help your body absorb fatty acids including vitamin A and vitamin E.
Itching on the bottom of your foot indicates a backup of fluids into the liver. For example, if bile backs up and your liver is congested, you could be getting a build up of histamines.
Pain or inflammation in the bottom of the foot often mimics plantar fasciitis, but can be a liver problem. You can also have hot feet, and bad odor when your liver can’t detoxify correctly so toxins are leaking out through your skin.
Usually if someone’s liver is bad, it means their diet is bad, and their body is full of toxins. Chances are, if your liver is bad so too are your kidneys and colon.
If you have pitting edema is also a common liver symptom. You may also have toenail fungus. People with liver problems often have more fungus in and on their body, due to an imbalance of their gut microflora. You may also experience dandruff and psoriasis. Your nail beds turn white.
Common causes of liver problems include medications, sugar (especially high fructose corn syrup), cooked foods, too few vegetables, excessive alcohol, and excessive protein.
A healthy ketogenic diet combined with intermittent fasting is best for a healthy liver.
Now you know how to spot liver problems, understand their causes, and how to get your liver healthy again.

Dr Berg is a star. I’m a scientist and watch a lot of content on health, and Dr Berg is the best I’ve seen online, hands down.
@Celisar1 please refresh and let us all know 🤔
I am scientist too and I am amazed by him.
@Kathleen LaVoie I’m not a dr but i have a thought for your “thick waistline”. I am 78 yrs old, female. When I was a teenager (with a good shape, lol) my mom had an “exercise gismo” that was on the floor of our family room. I’ve seen them on line now days too. It’s about 12″-14″ in diameter and about 1″ high. Looks like a plate on the floor. It has an underneath mechanism that allows the top to rotate around without the bottom moving. You stand on it and pretend you are doing “the twist” dance. As a teenager I got on it almost every time I walk near it and “did the twist” for about 3 min. My waist was already in good shape, but it started getting smaller to the point my clothes didn’t fit right anymore. I had to stop using it. At my age, now, I’m a little bottom heavy, but people have always commented that I have a waist!! I would recommend that simple fun exercise to anyone interested in reducing their waist.
Dr Gundry is my favorite!
Someone actually teaching us about our health, rather than pushing pills down our throat. Such a breath of fresh air.

I gotta say that Dr Berg is honestly a genius. If big pharma and medicine was ran by Dr Berg I honestly believe that it would be rare to see anyone ever getting sick.
Thank you Dr Berg!
You’ve saved my life. I’ve lost 55 lbs. I’m currently on the third day of a 3-day water fast. 👍🏾
Exactly distilled is best. Then use Dr.bergs eletroclytes. Bam perfect combo.
@Cece Princess I’m someone who has had health problems while fasting like that, and I’m alive. People are always looking for excuses so that they dont have to change their habits

@Iram Fatima Watch the video. Fast, and avoid alcohol, sugar and carbs in excess. Supplement with Vitamin A and
B3, and omega acids.
@patyrc76 thanku
I have a lot of liver problem symptoms and didn’t even realize that everything was caused because of my liver. I started watching this channel after my CT scan came back that I have a fatty liver.
@Stacey Goodrich– fatty liver disease (steatohepatitis) can be a genetic predisposition or the result of excess alcohol intake. Either way– you can maximize your health. Women are especially prone to damage caused by alcohol intake; more so than men. Hormonal therapies, pregnancies, genetic predisposition are some of the reasons women are highly susceptible to fatty liver disease.
Respectfully,
Dr. B.
Agree with you. I have a fatty liver and not had ANY alcohol for nearly 30 years. Sometimes not so easy to detect especially these days when doctors will not see patients in person and ‘diagnose’ on the phone.
I wish more doctors took the time to explain this to their patients. So many medicated people suffering side effects of their medication and being given further over the counter treatments that do nothing. Thank you for sharing.
Most doctors are oblivious about nutrition!
7 days no sugar and feeling amazing 🤩 thank you for the effort and putting out there … this is changing my life 🤩
..impressive, its my biggest problem! I can avoid fried foods but always go to sweeter foods. Are you avoiding all sweets or using a substitute? Keep up the good work👍
@asmr by nature use the sugar of the fruits in the morning … instead of drinking so much coffee now I drink from 3 to 5 cups of tea with one spoon of honey … natural ! The more natural things you put in your buddy the better ! NO MORE SUGAR !!! ✨😎
@asmr by nature When I was on Weight Watchers and ate 3 fruits a day, I Never craved sweets. Just a thought.
Dr Eric, I will always thank you for all your positive education, it has helped me a lot 🙏
Yay Keto you saved my life. Blood sugar this morning was 136. 2 months ago it was 348. My Bp was so high I got to ride in the ambulance. Today it is 110/79. My liver is no longer hurting me. Gerd is gone. Weight is dropping and the Intermittent fasting works perfect for me.

Your channel has helped me realize that there have been people in my life (and in all our lives) trying to silently kill me off. I can’t begin to thank you enough for your channel while I deal with these gross people that want us all dead from high blood pressure issues that they’ve been knowingly giving us.
Thank-You for providing helpful health information. I started walking around my neighborhood again after rarely walking the block before. And my upper arms and lower extremities have edema it’s not the type that stays dented in as you described. During the 90’s I took Oasis and was able to keep a lot of the swelling down. And around 10 years ago I fell out of a semi. I was told to wait for help before stepping down it was dark out someone I knew was showing me the inside of the cab. I felt like I broke my arms and legs when hit the ground. Anyway arthritis got worse and I have probably had Covid19 a few times. I bought Magnesium supplement yet I’ve been afraid to start it was going to ask a Pharmacist if it would have bad side effects. During the 90’s I was told I had Pancreatitis and liver spasms. I was on IV’s prior of Rochephin. When I first started trying to get exercise walking around my neighborhood I felt short of breath. I think it was because the person I was walking b with kept compkaining. Exercise, water, Magnesium Supplement, Vitamin C 500 mg., and going back on Thyroid Pills and antidepressants is my goal. I have never been the same since taking Prozac and Seroquel. I am really leery of pills know a few people who seem like they devoted dementia or something from medication(s). My hair is still falling out since having Covid19. Hope my liver isn’t messed up. I sometime times wake up craving sugar. A lot of anxiety and insomnia. The arsenic level in our well water has been tested @ ’16 ppg.’ and most recently ‘15.6’ for the whole neighborhood. White dots on my skin tried talking to doctor about it awhile back he just laughed. My whole body just aches and aches and the insomnia throws your whole body off. The arsenic in the well water is a serious concern as they add chlorine or chloride to the well water which I believe increases the arsenic level in the water, complained to someone higher up in the state after hearing from a politician on what I thought about the area infrastructure. I have new moles growing on my body (so to speak) and my eye specialist said my cataracts need to be removed. According to the eye specialist arsenic and chlorine in my well water could make my cataracts worse “scratch the eye too.” Sorry to post long message.
3 months ago I watched the episode about intimate fasting and decided to give it a try. I did the 20/4 for a whole 30 days no cheating whatsoever and I thank you for the information. I was 245 size 22 and now 195 size 14 and still going down to my 160 goal. I am 50 years old and feel great. Thank you Doctor Berg.
I like him a lot👋👋👋👋
This. Is. Great. Information. Never. Study. This.
intimate fasting
I skip dinner for two months lost about 20lbs
@Ri’e Roberts Intermittent fasting has Sooooo many health benefits.
Wow. I’ve had a stabbing pain in my foot for a year. Toenail fungus for decades. Cracked heels, vericose veins, all of this! Thanks Doctor!
Same issues for me too
I should be extra careful from now on
Thanks Doc
Same here!
I have the hot feet thing
I’ve lost 123 pounds on keto! It also reversed my fatty liver and heart failure! It’s seriously the best life style. People truly don’t understand how good it is for you! I got pregnant with my first and gained 80 back and have lost it all but 20 pounds. I’ve been struggling to get back on keto lately but also suffer from multiple chronic illness including Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, POTS and MCAS just to name a couple. If you are on the fence of doing keto, do it, it doesn’t have to be just for weight loss it’s for your overall health too! Its lowered my pain levels especially when I was on full time keto which I’m getting back into now as I type, it also almost completely got rid of my anxiety disorders I still have panic attacks sometimes but it wasn’t daily. Its seriously 1000% worth doing I love keto. I tell everything to do it!
Cheers to you amen and amen
I used to have very cracked heels. I had to go low carb, no sugar 10 months ago. While watching this video I realized my heels are completely normal now. I’ve had a lot of encouragement watching these teachings.
Thank you for you experience strength & hope🌞
Hey Dr. Berg! I have been Intermittent Fasting for 69 days and lost about 12 lbs. Thank you for all your help. I absolutely love every video you make. Continue to keep helping people.
I watched a lot of Dr Berg’s videos and read comments from all you great people, and recently I’ve started methodically applying some of the things I’ve learned. It’s amazing how great this guy is at making medicine totally comprehensible.
I wished every med doctor would spread this knowledge to their patients! They sell pills instead. ☹️
Great work Dr Berg! You are our hero. 🤩
Glad you like the video. Thanks for watching!
Most doctors do, but we can’t forget, patients also REQUEST those medications. Many doctors will try and avoid most medications but the patient is free to request a medication for their issue.
