it’s all about yin and yang. feeding and fasting. not 10 small meals a day. IF 16/8 or 18/6 or 20/4 or OMAD is a good way to have the right balance so that the body can recover from eating. clearing out the old stuff when fasting, repairing and building up the new stuff.

Nice video. But for the mesurenment : Blood-ketones are only a sign for available ketones – so, after doing exercise ( using blood-ketones ) ect. the mesurenment can be missleading. The ketone-production-rate would be more intresting, but breath-control is not very precise and would therefore not be better.

a fasted state in the morning can be a reference. if your ratio is not very low, then that is also an indication of insulin resistance that shows with the dawn phenomenon.
Use blood samples (most accurate but expensive) or urine samples to determine ketones.
Thanks! The Mojo ketone/glucose monitor has given me great guidance since I started tracking my GKI about a month ago. I now feel like I have a better handle on how I move in and out of ketosis, with the benefits of seeing how specific foods and activities effect the cycle! Great video as usual Siim. I have a question Siim. For someone who is at their ideal weight for their height how many hours will it take to engage Autophgy zero calories and no real exercise? My digestion is quick stomach feels completely empty in 4 hours. Ballpark figure.

Awesome video. I really appreciate you speaking about GKI. I use it all the time with my clients. I am surprised that none of the other “Big name” keto guys talk about. You are the first person that I follow who speaks about this important calculation. I think it is really the hidden calculation in being successful within the keto/fasting lifestyle. Thanks again for bringing up the GKI. By the way one of my clients in a 16 hour IF protocol scored below a 1, and she feels amazing, and her diseases within her body are greatly reduced. I understand. I’ll do some research on cortisol. Nevertheless I’’m happy with my weighloss been a fatass all my life. When that fat is on you all your life. It is harder to loose. But fasting is the key. Also one meal per day helps

I’ve done a 3 day water fast in the past. Now I’m fasting again and on my 3rd day. According to my research autophagy really begins after the 3rd day. How long do you think water fast should be in order to reap the full benefits of autophagy? Thank you

I have read your book. Still, I had trouble with how to know you’re in autophagy. Now I see why. They don’t measure autophagy in humans. Also, you made the point that even though your GKI may be less than 3 and your glucagon to insulin may be low you can stop autophagy by eating. It really looks like if you’re in ketosis you are probably in autophagy. Thank you for making such a great video.

So…I can have low (good) levels of blood sugar, in a good ketones zone, but if I’m doing OMAD (one meal a day), I do t get the autophagy benefits?
