    • Please stop acknowledging BMI without always painting out it’s shortcomings. Please encourage people to understand their bodyfat% and distribution.

  2. Siim you know lots about metabolism and I’m struggling to figure some stuff out so if it interests you I would love a video on:
ATP and lactate in the brain. Especially in people with ADHD which is a neurodevelopmental problem where executive functions are under developed or under active and maybe one of the causes of this is mitochondrial dysfunction. So like my brain can’t process energy properly so runs at say 80% capacity (less depending on what my estrogen is up to) but the brain likes using lactate for energy so if I move my body it’s like keeping my brain awake (hyperactivity).
But like I can’t figure out what lactate is or does. So apparently it’s energy and it specifically helps with executive functions and taking Ritalin ups ATP or lactate or whatever – but then like lactate is also an inflammation marker or indicative of brain aging? And like wtf is a cybrid. All waaay to biochem for me so I can’t even figure out if I should be eating more carbs or less for my poor broken brain 🙈

  3. I heard the scientist Matt Kaeberlein saying for 1 out of 3 people, something to the effect, that calorie restriction is actually detrimental.

    • @Siim Land Well, you can also die from starvation as well. However, it seems to me that strength (and vo2max, which is induced somehow by strength) is the property that is the most correlated with a decrease in all cause mortality, on humans. It’s been shown in several studies. Even Peter Attia talks about that. The odd ratios can be up to 5 (!!!) between the weakest and the strongest. No intervention known to man has such a MEASURED impact on all-cause-mortality, for humans.

Now power lifters are a bad exemple because they are strong for certain specialized things, but they suck at producing the strength and power necessary to run fast or jump high, for instance. For overall strength, better examples would be gymnasts, olympic lifters who are in their weight category, boxers, wrestlers etc. They are strong and yet can still move, while having a good power endurance.

  4. So in order to maximize nutrition intake while minimizing caloric intake, one should eat a pure carnivore diet right?

  5. Good advice, calorie restriction is a hormetic stressor that people don’t talk about. Too much hormetic stress is not good either so too much calorie restriction to verge of death is counter intuitive. I do this calorie restriction is good if done at the right amount, lowering overall inflammation and not over doing it, depending on goals, lifestyle. Mtor pathway is also not good when turned on too long becuase dna repair is turned off.

  6. KING of decresing INFLAMMATION is EARTHING, hands down…. no arguing in that 🙂 20 peer-reviwed studies available about earthing/grounding. Research Clint Ober 🙂

  7. That’s right Siim, good work! Studies show that sour things also keep one young. Sour things such as whole lime, whole lemon, raw vinegar, sauerkraut, fermented things

  8. Cold therapy, decent sleep, fermented foods i.e. a healthy gut microbiome, avoiding leeky gut syndrome, protecting yourself from UV rays, and calorie restriction all lengthen life which is good. Wouldn’t it make more sense to work on lengthening Telomeres on cells instead of slowing down the replication process?

  9. What almost nobody is talking about is Breath Retention for longevity. Lower RHR, lower blood pressure, lower metabolism and lower oxidative stress. Also one of the reasons why meditating is so good for you and stress so bad. Panic attacks and chronic hyperventilating is the worst. Now you really accelerate aging and asking for diseases.

  10. Another amazing vid Siim. Just wanted to add that in the mice studies Calorie restriction helped half the mice live longer but half had shortened lifetimes too and died prematurly, suggesting that we should perhaps not do caloric restriction everyday maybe just 3 or 4 days a week followed mixed with refeed days at slight surplus to make sure we are not doing too much damage – what do you think?

  11. Take what this guy says with a pinch of salt. He takes more tablets a day than your grandparents take in a week combined.
