Today I’m going to share some important information related to chronic kidney disease.
10% of cases of end-stage renal disease are related to polycystic kidney disease. Polycystic kidney disease has mainly been thought of as a genetic problem, and until fairly recently, many people thought you couldn’t do much about genetic diseases. But it turns out that you can.
Some of the top warning signs of polycystic kidney disease are increased risk of infection, urinary bleeding, reduced function of the kidneys, and high blood pressure.
A recent study done on mice found that the ketogenic diet halted and reversed polycystic kidney disease in the mice. They also found that time-restricted eating created a similar effect.
Another study found that the keto diet may reduce the risk of kidney stones as long as the person is also on a low-oxalate diet. Along with keto and consuming low-oxalate foods, consuming enough water may help reduce the risk of kidney stones.
In the study on polycystic kidney disease, they found that the cysts absorb glucose and are dependent on glucose. Glucose can contribute to other kidney issues as well.
A low-carb diet and fasting are both great ways to get your body to start making ketones. You can also take ketones.
The best natural remedies for kidney problems:
• Curcumin
• Resveratrol
• EGCG (in green tea)
• Quercetin
• Berberine
What I would do for chronic kidney disease:
1. Take the above natural remedies
2. Go on a low-oxalate keto diet
3. Do intermittent fasting

I had kidney problems as a kid…
First I was a fat 3 year old, then I was a skinny 4 year old… I still don’t really know wtf was wrong then. Just hospitals suck.😓

I’m in the end of stage of kidney disease. I have polycystic kidney disease since birth, and last 2021 diagnosed with kidney failure and I’m on a Peritoneal dialysis up to this time.
Call healthfood stores to see which has the 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide. Dilute to 3% solution 12 oz water 1 oz 35%. Then slow regime to add to drinking water. start 3 drops 3 times a day 4 next 5 next & increase to 16 days & reach 25 at end! All that oxygen could really turn you around. ACV is a filter cleaner so would incl. even in tablet. The GREAT Physician Jesus is the only doctor I see and use His real simple remedies!
Thank you Dr.Berg! Please know that You’re doing a wonderful job with your informative videos. God bless you! watching daily from the carribean.
I have polycystic kidney disease my kidneys are large with multiple cysts and fasting really helped. Thanks for the information
@michaelkariuki5350 well ok. I am 28 I fasted for 37 days and had no food and no water for 18 hours I stopped consuming sugar and carbohydrates and the results were incredible the small cysts disappeared and the large ones shrunk by five millimeters. my egfr also improved
@Shahram Ghazaly great, but what are you doing for diet now after you stopped the fasting? Is there a diet protocol you are following?
@Samg677 it’s a ketogenic diet. my body still craves sugar but its better to stick to keto
Look into iver for pkd. Also no carbs, sugars, dairy, beans of any type and potatoes while taking it. It will completely reverse with iver but it will take time.
I had numerous tumors on one of my kidney and the adrenal glands over a couple centimeters in 2019, I switched to low carb, and a frequent fasting and a scan in 2021 showed they were scarcely detectable. Also had multiple cysts running up my shins for whatever reason and they left too.
Good morning Dr Berg.
Since following your advice in the last few months. I am no longer taking drugs for Asthma. My Thyroxine has been reduced. My blood pressure is lower. I’ve lost weight, and after speaking to my Nephrologist a couple weeks ago for my review on Polycystic kidney and liver disease. He asked me “what are you doing “ I told him about cutting out sugar, intermittent fasting and also a daily yoga practice. My Dr was so impressed that he said that he too was going to look into these recommendations!!!!!
Wow!!!! 😮
Thank you very much for your videos. 😊
Also try Deep breathing exercises to keep your blood pressure low. It works, check your blood pressure before you try it then do the deep breathing exercises after. Let me know how it goes. 👍
@Ra cloud thank you for you suggestion!
It is very much appreciated.😊
Deep breathing, daily yoga, meditation and intermittent fasting (and the reduction of sugar) has really changed my mind, body and soul for the better.
I’m not diagnosed but my urine output is quite lower than it used to be. Turns out the salt is the problem. When I lower salt to 5g a day, problem goes away.
My father was diagnosed with kidney disease stage 4 two years before he past away. He had many other issues to but the doctors really didn’t give much help because he was in his mid eighties.
I’ve been on dialysis for over 5 years now (end stage renal failure caused by vasculitis). I’ve tried some supplements already, with no results. I’m going to try low carb diet and intermittent fasting. Hopefully it will make some improvements:)
You can check out Katherine, she has a lot of info on the kidneys.
QUESTION! Is this the same as having cysts on your Liver too? This is such great information! My health has improved greatly from your videos and vital information that other doctors tend to dismiss. I have REVERSED INSULIN RESISTANCE thanks to you! ❤️
Thanks Dr. Berg – my mother had Polycystic kidneys and was on dialysis for 12 years. Back then and with my limited knowledge of diet, I knew all the sugar and junk food she ate probably wasn’t helping her kidney function. Glad to know, for myself, that I have a good plan to keep my kidney function strong and healthy. THANK YOU!
Can you please do a video on everything a type 1 diabetic need to do to stay healthy. I’m already doing keto and fasting as much as I can but it’s hard to control my blood sugars when fasting. I’m scared of getting bad complications. I’ve been type 1 for 47 years and it’s one of the worse things to have. I also take benfotiamine but it dont always agree with my body. Please help.
Both my sister & I have Polycystic Kidney Disease. I have never tolerated sugar or high GI Index foods, so while I’ve been on a Keto type diet the majority of my life (low carb, no sugar, whole foods), my sister ate a regular diet. Her kidneys grew exponentially needing a transplant, mine have stayed within normal range (10-12cm) and function for 54 years. I recently found the study you mentioned & a researcher contacted me after hearing our story. I know it’s not widely accepted yet, but I’m living proof – even if accidentally. As far as stones & blood pressure – I have experienced numerous calcium oxalate kidney stones prior to cutting down on oxalate foods. Chanka Piedra helps to avoid this as well (suggested by my kidney doctor). As far as blood pressure, mine is equally as bad, but even our siblings without PKD have it. Thank you for getting the word out, Dr Berg.
Hi Dr. Berg! I have been following your advice very recently. I remember you said Hibiscus tea is a good source of EGCG as well. Could that be a good replacement for green tea to help kidney function?
Yes.
Diagnosed with PKD October 2004. At 70
I am just getting close to Stage 2. Conventional treatment tells me to limit protein and wait for dialysis.
I do a modified keto but I am ready to go more into it. This week I will start The Limited fasting.
Thanks Dr.
Dr. Berg, you are a Godsend. Polycystic kidney disease is a hereditary disease in my family. I’m going to take your advice and put it to use immediately.
Thanks for this video . Am a Ugandan 32 yrs and in 2021 I was diagnosed with bileteral polycystic kidneys disease with my blood pressure in the roof and a lot of UTIs. I have been taking BP medication until last year after watching a lot of your videos I divided I was going to try fasting, quit sugar and eat cleaner and workout. My kidneys stopped paining and I feel much better. I know in the long run this is going to benefit me a lot. I fast 36hrs once a week and do intermittent fasting other days of the week. I no longer feel my heart pounding in my chest like it used to esp at night while sleeping. The ringing in my head is slowly going away and I feel much better……I know it’s going to take time and am trying all I can to stay focused but sometimes I fall and regret it….. everything you said in this video, you have said it before in other videos and that’s how I came up with that plan.
Thanks for the good work.
Am so pleased
Great info, Dr Berg! Knowing is half the battle and wisdom is applying the knowledge.
