A new study has identified five sleep habits that can add up to five years to your life. The study looked at the sleep habits of over 172,000 people and found that getting seven to eight hours of sleep, having no more than two difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep per week, not using sleep medication, and feeling well-rested after waking up at least five days a week were all factors that contributed to a lower risk of mortality. Men who reported having all five quality sleep measures had a life expectancy that was 4.7 years greater, while women had a life expectancy that was 2.4 years greater.

Did they factor naps at all? My Oura ring bumps my sleep score when I take a nap.
I wish Siim would do a study on cannabis (THC), I know it probably doesn’t interest him, I know he’s more on lifestyle for health benefits, but cannabis is medicine first and foremost and a more natural option at that and a lot of people unfortunately associate it with negativity
It stops R.E.M sleep and it certainly isn’t a medicine, that being said certain extract’s from it can have very beneficial effects on human biology in a number of ways.
@dragonfishing idk I’ve woken the next morning feeling refreshed, aren’t herbs the healing of the nation, endocannabinoid system, I mean to me a medicine is something that has low to no side effects not to take something like modern medicine where the ailment gets slightly better but then you left with two or three side effects almost one step forward two steps back
Does melatonin count as a medicine to sleep?
2 points:
1. Sleeping 6.5 hrs
2. No difficulty falling asleep
3. Wake up whenever I get kicked, which happens a lot
4. Collagen knocks me out, but I’d probably fall asleep fast even without it. I’m going to not count that as a medication.
5. I feel like crap every morning (and much of the day)
Based on your comments re melatonin, probably can also exclude GABA Glycine or Reishi as sleep medication?
