Today we’re going to talk about how to protect your kidneys.
The kidneys can take a beating and can even regenerate. They are composed of roughly one million tiny filters, which filter your blood.
But as you age, you start losing these filters—so it becomes even more important to start eating better and decrease exposure to toxins.
The two worst things for your kidneys are sugar and oxalates. It’s crucial to stop consuming sugar and high-carb foods and to start limiting your exposure to high-oxalate foods.
However, consuming cheese or dairy with foods that are high in oxalates, but are otherwise healthy, can help counter kidney damage from oxalates.
Foods high in oxalates:
• Almonds
• Spinach
• Beet tops
• Peanuts
• Grains
• Beans
• Sweet potatoes
• Cassava
• Tapioca
• Kiwi
• Chocolate
• Swiss chard
• Turmeric
• Cinnamon
• Clove
The best ways to protect your kidneys:
1. Consume lemon water every morning
2. Consume apple cider vinegar mixed in water
3. Consume 2.5 liters of water a day
4. Avoid high-oxalate foods or add dairy to high-oxalate foods
5. Get on the Healthy Keto® diet and do intermittent fasting
6. Avoid fructose
7. Avoid consuming high levels of vitamin C
8. Consume potassium (not for end-stage kidney disease)
9. Consume plant foods and microgreens

Yep at 59 I take 1&1/2 teaspoons of potassium bicarbonate with 1/4 teaspoon ascorbic acid a day, eat once a day, lemon juice in water, Keto diet with vinegar and avoid high oxalate food, problem solved, kidneys happy.
Bravo…I think. I will research so I can learn more.
YEAH YOU! YOUR ADVICE ROCKS
Dr Berg is a heaven bless to our health 🌸😇
indeed 🙏
Thank you Dr. Berg. I have chronic kidney disease stage 3 and this is helpful. I have none of the diseases that cause CKD except I have had several stones over the past 20 years.
see my post above. Micro greens really helped me as well as celery juice.
Diet really does help. My friend has had a kidney stage reversal this way. Her only vice – tomatoes (just a few) in summer. Remember to remove seeds and skin if you must. (lectins)
Wonderful advice for those on keto and with this condition especially!
@Janet Rapisardi thank you..Yes diet..I recently passed stones after extreme caution with my diet, but I drank Almond milk daily which is super high in oxalates( much to my surprise).
@Jeff Sully celery juice is also very high oxalate unfortunately:(
@Jeff Sully didn’t know that! I’ll pass that along. Tx.
Honestly, I believe that Dr. Berg is the only doctor that knows about our health to this degree. All of the doctors I have known in my life time have been clueless. Thank you Dr. Berg!
Dr Berg tells you the truth.
How did they pass school then smh
@Cosmo KramerBarbara O’Neill. I think Dr. Berg may have gotten his “Biscuits, pastas etc “ routine from. Live Dr. Berg and Barbara
Give this man a Nobel Peace medal.
Pleaseeee, he’s well deserving of it
How stress can damage the kidney? Very thankful for kind sharing
Human’s appreciation and recognition is one. But surely, he belongs to Heaven.
I swear to god he saved my life
To avoid the possibility of getting a high amount of oxalates from turmeric, take it’s derivative, curcumin, it’s an extract of turmeric, and therefore concentrated so you won’t need to take as much but you’ll still receive the antioxidant benefits.
You also need black pepper to activate them!
@Nadia Venice thanks for bringing that up there’s one or two other substances. That increase the availability of turmeric as well. Can’t remember them at the moment.
How?
I admire you alot. I wish there are more doctors like you. Kudos to you Doc!
Dr. Berg is an intelligent, tireless, respected physician and a good scientific researcher, whose broad spectrum of followers is evidently growing.
yup and we’re lucky to have him here and share a lot of what we needed to understand,
that kind of knowledge is not that easy to achieve
Let’s keep sharing his videos. Let’s get them out there.
You are the best.I start my morning listening to your advice on health. It keeps me in healthy mode.I wish you all the best.
The key word you used was researcher. A lot of doctors don’t do anything once they graduate. They just do what the pill companies tell them. Then have the nerve to call people that do what Berg does Quacks🙄
I recently had my first kidney stone…I was eating a LOT of almonds and dark chocolate. The doctors told me that it was 8 mm and would be almost impossible to pass. I started drinking apple cider vinegar in my water every day along with corn silk tea…after 2 months my stone broke up into 3 parts and it passed! I still drink ACV and corn silk tea every day ever since💞 I’ve also lowered my oxalates too!
@Bunny BubsNo problem, I’m off today from work and watching Dr Berg vids on you tube, the guy is a life saver,….. I try to drink 2 liters of water a day(with lemon),I usually drink more. I think 4 lemons a day might be “overkill”, but I just love the flavor
@PolPotsPieHole ha! I can not drink water without my
True Lemon packets ! I know they have a trace of sugar tho !
He’s awesome ! The friday call in is amazing! Enjoy your day off ! Thank you!!
@Mark Williams that is awesome stuff….chance piedra doesn’t receive the recognition it should.
My husband gets kidney stones often and takes lemon juice & olive oil mixed together & follows up with a glass of water. Usually within 12hrs or less, he passes it. My Sister’s boyfriend did the same and avoided surgery. His Dr wouldn’t admit that the remedy worked, but did list it in his medical record that the large stone was no longer there after using olive oil & lemon juice😊
@Rachael 1776 ratio? Daily ?
Thank you Dr. Berg ❤
High-oxalate foods:

Rhubarb.
Almonds and cashews.
Miso soup.
Baked potatoes with skin.
Beets.
Cocoa powder.
Blessings to all ✝️
Things to avoid or consume?
Avoid
Sorry but I’m lost… Is this the list of what I shouldn’t eat or I should eat?🤷♀️ Thanks
Dang those oxalates
That means most of my smoothies in the morning are hurting my kidneys?

I agree with the comment below I think dr. Berg is the only doctor who knows about our health.
I also feel he’s the only one who really cares!
Look how dedicated he is. And he’s spot-on at every turn.
Thank you dr. Berg! You’re amazing! ❤️
Dr. Berg doesn’t show us how to ‘manage’ our disease…he shows us how to get rid of it! 😀 THIS is what a doctor should be…
Thank you Dr.Berg you have saved me once again. I could never ever thank you enough as you have saved my life over and over again.
Excellent video as always. Definitely helped dropping vitamin c (ascorbic) and switching to peppers lemons and sauerkraut for my complete Vitamin C. HUGE difference in general health! Dr Berg helped me fix my health!
I started the year off going to the emergency room after severe pain on my lower left side. I thought I had food poisoning initially but when the pain returned the next day off I went to the ER. 6 hours later I was told I had a kidney stone and would have to pass it. I found your video on what one can do and by chance I had a bag of limes which I ate like they were the last ones on Earth. I was managing my pain by taking Alieve to get me through the days. On the 9th day the pain suddenly went away. I didn’t catch anything in the strainer. I didn’t feel anything. It was just over. The stone was 4 mm. I have a CT scan tomorrow to see if it’s gone or hiding as well as to check the one in the kidney. Thank you for the advice because it was rough! 😓

He deserves an award of the best YouTuber of the year.
God bless you Dr. Eric berg
Whenever i am tiered, this man comes with me as an inspiration…. Thanks Dr. Berg for your contributions to this society 🙏
I’ve notoriously been guilty of not drinking enough water. My urine was always too dark. Since I purchased a water filtering device, I now drink water all day long because it tastes so good. As a result, my urine is now a light yellow, and I have more energy. Thank you, Dr. Berg for breaking this all down. Already do everything you discussed. So nice to hear I’m on the right path. You rock!!! ❤️
