  2. I’m wondering if clearing out mitochondrial and growing new ones would be good, because they also get old and dysfunctional with age. I guess they do this on their own but maybe if you encourage mitochondrial death and replication more frequently it would prevent mitochondrial dysfunction.

    • you’re thinking of the process of mitophagy. Mitophagy can be achieved through supplementation or consumption of fruits that contain either ellagic acid or ellagitannins which in turn creates Urolithin A as a metabolite when in contact with your stomach.

I love taking cold showers and have loves cold therapy but I noticed lately that with my back hurting From an injury when I was in the air sometimes taking a cold shower actually causes A-sharp pain in my lower back because the cold water jolt causes the muscles to tighten and actually hurts my lower back. And this isn’t an acute back injury where I just hurt myself I hurt myself 10 years ago and for the most part my back doesn’t bother me but sometimes it does and it’s a very sharp shooting pain because they called it degenerative disc/ bulging disk And just hurt sometimes

    • Maybe start the shower with warmer water, and just change it as you shower, to give the muscle, ligament, tendon a chance. I have found Stewart Hamblin’s Sit Fit very good for lower back realignments and strengthening… Hope you don’t mind plugging another channel Sim 🙂 I have no affiliations or anything, just passing on the info, cheers.

  4. I take ice baths for various reasons and I will be interested in what Inka has to say regarding the brain but regarding longevity, all the so-called “blue zones” of extended life spans are in warm, even hot, climates. So…

    • People in the Shetlands, in the 1900’s, would live well into their 90’s, while smoking tobacco their whole life. They’d also burn peat, from a peat bog, for fuel and live in stone houses with straw rooves. Also Tibetan monks, or anywhere where they meditate more, and live in mountainous areas can be thought to live long, so not necessarily solely in hot climes? An English man is the oldest man in the world currently, from Hull, it’s really bitter there, as the wind blows down from the North Sea.

  5. just burning an extra 200-300 calories a day thru some type of hormesis is MORE than enough stress to keep you in shape and make you live longer IMO

  6. Very good, I wonder about mountain people, especially in relation to extreme heat and extreme cold, they also tend to have a reputation of living long and being healthy. Institute of Human Anatomy channel just released, today, an interesting video today about longevity of fast twitch muscle, extremely well presented and very interesting analysis.
