Today we're going to talk about a simple way to prevent kidney stones, and it has to do with apple cider vinegar.

The most common type of kidney stone is a calcium oxalate stone. In this situation, you have high oxalates and calcium and low citrate.

You may have high oxalates from consuming too many high-oxalate foods. Oxalates are in a lot of foods, including keto-friendly foods. High calcium in the urine can be due to a genetic mutation.

Your body makes citrates, which bind with calcium to lessen the amount of free calcium in the body. Free calcium is what can bind to oxalates.

Drinking more fluids during the day is one of the best ways to prevent kidney stones. I suggest drinking at least two and a half liters of fluids per day if you're prone to getting kidney stones. Another great way to prevent kidney stones is to add electrolyte powder containing potassium citrate or magnesium citrate to your water.

The best natural remedy for kidney stones:
• To help dissolve kidney stones, add four to six ounces of lemon juice and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a large glass of water, and drink up! For kidney stone prevention, add the juice of one lemon or just one tablespoon of lemon juice and two tablespoons of ACV to your water.

    • Me too. I squeeze a whole lemon into it also. It makes it taste a lot better and is really good for you.

  1. Dr. Berg!
Diverging from your usual videos, could you make a video on grade 3 concussion and how to spot long term consequences/remedies.

  2. Apple cider vinegar is one of the ingredients I use in the chilli mix I make at home. Thanks always Dr Berg 😊

  3. I had kidney stones over a year ago just before starting your healthy version of keto, I wasn’t eating right to begin with and extremely over weight. I was worried about getting kidney stones back by eating 10 cups of dark leafy greens so that’s when I watched your videos on what to help with kidney stones and immediately start drinking apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and water 32oz at every meal and I have been very fortunate not to get them back, knock on wood! Thank you Dr. Berg for helping me through getting healthy and losing weight the correct way!

    • @Chalron Bjork I would recommend to write this comment in top level and even ask for a pin. It seems very helpful! Thanks for sharing!

    • @Kerem I put a slice of lemon or lime in squash soft drinks. It gets diluted so is not as aggressive.

    • @Chalron Bjorkcv has malic acid. I have seen a video where someone said drinking apple cider or fresh juice could soften certain types of stones. So acv could work. Anyways it won’t hurt to have it also. Perhaps that’s where the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”🤔

    • @Godnyx  I don’t have gut issues by eating all them dark leafy greens so I can enjoy the benefits of getting plenty of potassium, magnesium and all the other nutrients that are in them while still eating fatty meats, eggs, cheese.

  4. Doc I SWEAR you’re following my life lately with your topics. Legit I passed a nice sized stone last week! I make calcium oxalate type and do pretty well watching my oxalate intake until about the last six months. I started increasing myricetin for C19 prevention one of which is Cranberry but have found its also high in oxalates. ACV and Lemon is out my having MCAS and sensitive to those as triggers. Guess I’ll be taking magnesium citrate and visiting the bathroom more often for another reason.🙃

    • How do you take yours, do you also take it with lemon and how many tablespoons do you use and do you drink it more than once daily?

  5. As someone who frequently gets kidney stones, and last had surgery for one stuck in 2021, my Urologist said ACV does not have the citrus in it needed to break down kidney stones. She told me to use lemon juice and avoid chocolate, berries and spinach and drink at least 3 litres of water per day.

  6. Good day, Dr. Berg. I need to ask a question. Will taking medicine like Somac for acid reflux decrease the acidity (citrate) of lemons and oranges when I consume them? I’m dealing with kidney stones right now and my medicine (Litalgin) didn’t work for the first time when I got a kidney stone yesterday. I don’t know what do to…

  7. You’ve never experienced pain like a kidney stone, until you have! When I recovered one that had hit the bottom of my toilet, I saved it for years. Look at one under the microscope, and you begin to see how, a tiny BB size calcium deposit, can feel like a chain saw in your back!
Thanks Dr. Berg, for shedding light on a natural defense, against these insidious beasts!!!

  8. This is powerful information everyone this is powerful information everyone. Dr. Berg is on our side and is the world health teacher. Let us take this knowledge and apply it.
    Happy health to everyone.

  9. I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt that this works. It also works with gall stones. One week of taking apple cider vinaigrette I felt an instant pinch and headed straight to the facilities. I was amazed how much dissolved gall stones came out of me.

  10. Dr. Berg, I don’t know who you are but it seems like every other day you throw out a video that personally effects me positively. As a 60 year old stone former you had me taking apple cider vinegar with the mother for almost a year now however, it had nothing to do with stones. I was taking it for other health benefits. This is such good news to me knowing it also helps for stones.

  11. Dr Berg. Thanks a lot for the information. The concern is We have a lot of manufacturers out there in the market, finding the right product makes us a big challenge. Dr Berg, could you suggest any name of the products.

  12. Hi Dr. Berg!

  13. Dr. Berg, you always mention about calcium oxalate stones.
Can you shed any light on triple phosphate stones ? ( staghorn stone ).
