  2. Life could be considered as a form of calcification. Babies have high silica and low calcium in their body (very flexible naturally). Old people has almost no silica and a lot of calcium (bones are brittle and break quickly and a lot of stiffness).

    • Google the work of Sanford Bennett. In the late 1800s early 1900s he thought aging was pretty much just the pipes getting stiff and rusty so he developed a type of yoga/stretching to reverse it and had some pretty neat results. His books are free online.

    • @zefrum3 Probably. MK4 from eggs too. But my main point was that ingesting calcium pills, or maybe even overdosing on calcium rich foods could quicken the aging process. I’ve noticed that, unlike other minerals, calcium is difficult to avoid no matter what form of nutrition you are on.

  3. You can diminish TMAO increase from Carnitine with NAC, ALA or GARLIC. Carnitine raises so much ATP, that it can increase oxidative stress.

  4. When i was in my 20s I took vitamin e on a mostly empty stomach; i felt very sick and that was enough for me to say no thank you to supplement with it

  5. Well put together video and honest advice as usual. As far as I know, the conversion to TMAO can happen when you take L-carnitine, but if you take L-carnatine tartrate, that doesn’t appear to be the case. But still, unless you are elderly, there may not be as much of a use case for it.

  6. That’s a shame about vitamin e. I get joint pain on one of my fingers and it helps relieve the pain.

    • It’s depends on forms, the main form sold are alpha tocopherol alone and it can cause imbalance and turn pro oxidation for the body. You want to find the brand that has all four types of tocopherol and four tocotrienol included. Some suggests tocopherols have more negative effects and just stick with tocotrienols. Also the natural forms are labeled as d-alpha, d-beta, etc. Avoid the synthetic dl- forms.

    I only take (a low dose) Vit E a few times a week after reading that higher doses can be dangerous. (I’m 60 yr old female)
    I also stopped taking Hup A when my vision was getting worse and worse, and quickly. I had no idea that this was a side effect of Hup A and I threw it away.
    I do take L-Carnitine rarely because my body seems to want it sometimes. Thanks for the info on that.
    The mushrooms conversation was interesting and loved that you applied it to the time of year, that’s crucial, and also explaining that it’s a stressor.
    It’s so well known about calcium esp in a tablet that the body doesn’t recognize…I do take an food based/algae one because I have bone issues.

    More whole food and less supplements is just optimal, it’s how humans are created and thrive.

  8. Do other supplemental antioxidants such as vitamin C, NAC, NR or glutathione have the same risks as Vitamine E?

    • Other supplements could have some other side effects. Overdose of vitamin C may cause iron accumulation in the body, also increases oxalate excretion through urine that may lead to kidney stone formation.

  10. I prefer to use vitamin E topically for wound healing. I only look to vitamin E when I am healing from some wound.

    I do keep vitamin C powder on hand, but only take it when I am fighting an infection of some kind. The powder form permits me to titrate the amount. Given that vitamin C is water soluble, I don’t worry too much about it’s impact. IIUC, it clears the body within 24 hours.

    Chaga is a traditional medicinal used for severe illness in indigenous Native American culture. It should never be taken except in response to a disease that overwhelms the body or becomes chronic. It is intensely powerful as a medicinal. The cost and availability of the proper fruiting body prohibits any reasonable person from taking Chaga on a whim or under the illusion that it is suited for long term use.

    Lions mane is used primarily as a neuroprotective to support the brain and neural network. It is generally taken in low dose and long term. I know of no unintended consequences when lions mane is taken in this manner.

    I would caution anyone to consider the suspected carconegicity of the most common culinary mushroom in the world (button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, and portabella mushrooms; which are all the same fungus at three different stages of growth). Paul Stamets has gone on record that he will not consume this variety of mushroom because the molecule contained in them which correlates very strongly with cancer in the lab cannot be denatured. He has tried. Given that there are many mushrooms which are superior to this particular variety that do not contain this suspected carcinogen, he simply took them off his personal menu.

    Vitamin D3 and K2 mk7 along with zinc and Quercetin are the only supplements I take seasonally. I do take NAC and magnesium year round. I pulse MSM on an ongoing basis, as a mild chelator, and to help with allergic rhinitis. MSM supports the mucosa, endothelium, and joints. It thins the blood and contains sulfur.

    • Thanks for on the info on agaritine, I wonder if it’s why I feel a bit crap after eating to much portobello each time. Will switch to shiitake, it appear to have a tiny amount of agaritine if I’m reading this study right but miniscule compared to portabello.

  11. thanks for the vid, i recently started and stopped taking NAC. apparently a big study done that links NAC and knee OA (osteoarthrtitis) – i felt discomfort in my joints after taking NAC for a few weeks then started googling.

  12. I stopped taking resveratrol and Japanese knot weed, over 10 years ago. I felt lousy and weak when I used to take resveratrol.
