    Another well rounded and useful video from Slim, as opposed to the useless dogmatic trendiness found on most channels these days.

    • @Siim Land Anatoly the “sleeper build” gym prankster is very big online now, millions of views per video. He plays a lovable doofus type character who then lifts big weights. He’d competed somewhat in 165lb powerlifting class, results online under real name Vladimir Shmondenko.

      You can be the first to thoroughly analyze why he can do that: high muscle density, genetic disposition of Type II over Type I fibers, neuromuscular low-rep training, etc.

  3. I’m now concerned because despite having good endurance when walking I have always had fairly low speed and attributed it to being a laid back person. While I walk multiple miles a day, I don’t think its doing much for my actual cardio.

  5. I wonder about those who will treat the symptoms instead of the disease. Like, I’m just going to increase my walking pace to improve my chances. No, your pace is your pace. If you’re too uncomfortable to walk fast, then address the source of stiffness/pain/ low energy. Don’t just stupidly walk faster.

  6. Why do they often use grip strength, of all things?

    Because any doctor’s office can have one of those small portable devices that measure grip strength. Having a big giant leg press machine would be a whole different matter – but would probably give more meaningful results.

  7. Swinging your arms while you walk…if you don’t then it’s an indicator that you will develop dementia. This might be a factor in walking speed too, but it is independently associated.

  8. Thing is that the more muscle mass you have, lower your Vo2max will be. If you’re on PEDs and you build enough muscles. You will be out of breath by just walking to the toilet. You also lose flexibility and mobility with more muscle mass too. Everyone doing weight training should also be doing cardio and stretching. But that is ofcourse not the reality.
