Vitamin D can also be depleted in individuals who have high inflammation markers but may also not be obese like homocysteine and CRP, also individuals who have gene SNP’s that prevent/reduce absorption of vitamin D
Nice. Like the magnesium reference as magnesium supplementation has been shown to raise Vitamin D levels alone.
Although I have also seen research showing that the body can suppress Vitamin D levels itself as a protective mechanism when it exposed to heavy metal toxicity particularly from Lead, in order to try prevent further absorption of lead via Vit D Pathway.
So do you have low Vitamin D and require supplementation, or do have toxic lead from environmental factors.
Also seen research around particular individuals struggling to convert inactive Vitamin D (D2 and D3) to the active form of Vitamin D (1.25OH) that is required via Enzymatic Hydroxylation.
Many blood tests don’t even measure the active form of Vitamin D 1.25(OH)
