Let’s talk about the most deadly type of sugar you could consume.

There are many different types of sugar, but the most common types of sugar are made up of glucose and fructose.

Every cell in the body can metabolize glucose. But only the liver can break down fructose.

Fructose doesn’t initially trigger insulin or increase blood sugar. However, fructose can lead to a fatty liver, inflammation, scar tissue, and damage to other parts of the body.

As the liver becomes fatty, you could also develop insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and high uric acid levels. Uric acid is behind gout, certain types of kidney stones, and damage to the arteries.

The body actually deals with fructose the same as it would with alcohol. Even though fructose is low on the glycemic index, it’s very deadly.

Many types of sugar, like table sugar, honey, beet sugar, and high fructose corn syrup, are 50 percent glucose and 50 percent fructose. But agave nectar is 85 percent fructose.

This makes agave nectar the worst type of sugar you could consume.

  1. 💡Agave nectar is the worst type of sugar because agave syrup is much higher in fructose than plain sugar, it has greater potential to cause adverse health effects, such as increased belly fat and fatty liver disease.😬

  2. It’s refreshing when someone takes time out explain things in a manner we can understand and not seem condescending, fair play ❤

  3. Really love that I knew the answer when I seen your video title. I’ve learned a lot studying you and others. Appreciative to be educated on nutrition. More to come.

  4. I’ve never read labels as much as I have now since I’ve found your channel. This has enlightened me so much.👍🏾

  5. Can you please do a post on berries? Bilberry, blueberry, jostaberry, raspberry, strawberry, mulberry, blackberry and black currants. They must have fructose but have extremely high antioxidants and nutrition. I’m really interested as they are the only fruit I eat. Thanks

    • Berries are “OK” in almost all the articles that I have read. I eat 100g of blueberries everyday.

    • @lpg12338 yes I’m right into them too. I’m interested in the anticancer properties mainly. And the eyesight benefits. I’ve been taking black currant seed oil and my skin has tightened up and plumped out with moisture, amazing. Strawberry has stopped esophagus cancer in mice for example. So I was wondering what dr berg knows.😊❤

  6. Do you have stats of sugar intake in the US, for example? Or diabetes stats? It would be interesting to see how all your hard work videos may affect these kinds of stats 😊

    • Are you kidding? Obesity, diabetes and sugar intake are epidemic here in the U.S. Just look around. These are well-known facts. I lived in Europe for years, and that’s what we’re known for. People would comment on how surprised they were that I’m skinny, since most Americans are fat. As for Dr. Berg’s effect on America’s extremely unhealthy population of almost 400 million people: Very little, obviously.

    • @Donna Baardsensame in Latin America.
They comment on how we eat dessert for breakfast, we don’t walk, and how fat we are, oh, and guns. Lol.
That’s the summary of us to them and most of the world.

    • @TheDriftwoodlover Ya but there’s other creators that have good sub numbers & we all go out & spread the message

    • @DrBergDC I’ve given up sugar and am working on Keto. I also watch Dr Li and he suggests an apple and 3 kiwis per day. I worry these will get me out of ketosis? Also does your bread with almond flour raise glucose level? I appreciate all you videos so much!! Thank you!

  7. Thanks Dr Berg… shared ✅ Now I have to find the RIGHT time to share with my Mom.. Got her MOSTLY off sugar.. but she insists on Agave nectar for her coffee… Tried to explain to her… but this will get through I think. She IS noticing improvement now in mood, energy, weight loss, etc…. So we are over the critical mass point! 🙂

    Thank you Dr Berg!!
    😺👍

  9. Dr. Berg’s videos have informed me about my health to such a point my Ulcerative Colitis hasn’t flared up in 2 years now. I have Pan Colitis of the entire large intestine, and it was pure misery. With horrible flare ups every 6 months to a point I considered doing the unthinkable, because my quality of life was so low. Food is truly medicine, and taking the initiative to change your lifestyle and diet is the key. Thank you for giving this 24 year old man his life back, Dr. Berg! 😁

    • Dr. Berg says that 1 tsp of raw honey per day is ok, which is what I follow. He is pretty great on the anti inflammation front!

    • @dita4911 No Soda, or anything really other than raw milk and water, processed foods, all sweets, and that’s pretty much it. I eat a high amount of fermented vegetables, pretty high on grass fed beef, fatty fish, and a ton of real cheese. Mainly Goat and Sheep cheese. About 4 months into the change, I was able to completely tolerate raw veggies again, so a ton of those as well. I took out most all carbs, but I eat quite a few fruits that contain natural sugar like apples and blueberries, but other than that, that’s it. Intermittent fasting is honestly where I started feeling something other than pain again, and that was my first line of action alone.

  10. I love and appreciate all the wonderful & USEFUL information you give us Dr. Berg. I share your videos with all my friends & family members. You are one of a kind & we thank you.

  11. A few months ago, I switched from using agave nectar in my coffee to monkfruit. I believe it was one of your videos plus something I read that caused me to realize agave was not the healthier option. Dang.

  12. It is amazing how my g.p. knows and does not care to know anything about nutrition. Dr Berg you are amazing with all of your knowledge . And more so for spreading it far and wide. You are truly Blessed and we ultimately are Blessed with your generous soul!! Thank you so much!!❤🙏🇨🇦💐

  13. Hi Dr. Berg – I never knew how vital is to have a healthy sleep. I was very busy with my work and did not have time to take care of my food for a while and my health deteriorated suddenly and sharp. Joint pain, sleep intrupted by 3am wakes, breathing. I tried to correct it. But still was in joint pain and very low energy. Then, u met my friend whol told me to have naps and relax and try to sleep over 8 hours. Omg!! Yes it was sleeping problems. I never knew sleep can effect health! Wow! Sinetimes we can heal our bodies just by sleeping and have a healthy sleep!!! I moved my bed to another room where alot of light came from windows, and u never knew the great importance to have no light when to sleep! I noticed when I started covering my eyes I did not have wiered nightmares which I never had before. I started educate myself about the different state of sleep and how to have a healthy sleep to heal my body. I wish, you give us insight about not only good food but also the great need of good sleep for healing our bodies. I thought health is about food and exercise . But it turn out first comes sleep!!! After all you can go one day two days with no food. But it is disastrous to go one day or two days with no sleep.

  14. In 2000 I gave up soda. Not that I was addicted, but I knew it was contributing to my health woes. Since that time, companies have been putting HFCS in EVERYTHING, replacing “normal” sugar. My body knows pretty much right away if there’s hidden HFCS in something. Worst is eating at restaurants where you have no idea what’s in the food products. If there’s HFCS in something I eat, within minutes I’m suffering with PND, hacking and clearing my throat, and almost immediate belly bloat and flatulence. The longer effects are (hours but mostly into the next day) joint pain, fatigue, and oral thrush. Horrid, horrid horrid stuff and I can’t help thinking, it’s mostly due to the corn being GMO and God only knows about that
nasty stuff Glysophate (hope I spelled that right). It pays to read the “nutrition” labels (using THAT term loosely!) anything with HFCS I do not purchase. Even just “corn syrup I’m leary of.

  15. I love your content Dr. Berg & it’s really helped my husband & I turn our health around ❤ We are parents to two adopted toddlers with special needs.. we’d be SO grateful for any & all tips on how to incorporate the ketogenic diet for them & also suitable dietary supplements that are in chewable form. Ofc they live gummy vites full of sugar but we’re really trying hard to eliminate sugars & processed carbs from their diet, so I don’t feel good about handing them VitaFusion gummies (nor the commercial equivalent) any longer. Any advice? We strongly suspect our 4 yr old daughter has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, btw..

  16. Good morning Dr Berg, You are the best. You are changing millions and millions people’s life and educating at same time. Thankyou.

  17. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain in such detail. Thank you for all you do!

  18. Had I discovered Dr Berg and his insulin resistance message 10 years ago I probably could have avoided Quadruple bypass heart surgery. Until Dr Berg I had never heard a single peep out of any nutritional expert or physician. Dr. Berg should get a humanitarian award for his work.
