Let’s talk about the best carbohydrate to help you lower your cholesterol.

In some cases, it’s not a problem if cholesterol is a little bit higher. This can happen when you first start the keto diet because you’re mobilizing cholesterol from the fat cells.

But what can you do if you need to lower bad cholesterol naturally? There is one specific food that can really help you.

Your body makes cholesterol. Excess cholesterol is eliminated through the bile ducts with the help of bile salts. Bile salts have a lot of important roles in the body.

Typically, carbohydrates will increase cholesterol and triglycerides. There are three types of carbohydrates: sugar, starches, and fiber. Fiber can actually help reduce your cholesterol, but it has to be the right type of fiber. We’re talking about the fiber in vegetables.

Vegetables have low amounts of sugar and high amounts of fiber. They’re also rich in nutrients, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals.

Fiber helps bind with cholesterol and modify the absorption of lipids and fats. It also increases the production of bile and eliminates bile connected to cholesterol.

Fiber has zero effect on blood sugar and insulin, which will help lower your cholesterol. Feeding your microbes fiber also decreases the production of cholesterol.

If you have high cholesterol, consume more vegetables to help increase the release of bile and feed the microbes. At the same time, be sure to avoid sugar and starch in your diet.

  1. Thanks Dr Berg! I cook up salmon and a half pound of bacon, let it cool chop it up and mix it in my salad. I season with sea salt, pepper, olive oil and apple cider vinegar to taste and its great! Sometimes I mash up avocado, thin it with water and season it to taste and use that as my dressing!

What I’m super impressed with is your Wheatgrass Juice Powder. I drink this everyday mixed in with unsweetened green tea. The pain in my gut is slowly going away and I believe I will always have to be careful with what I eat. I do have more testing to go through to track down my internal bleeding but the system is incredibly slow and my progress has strictly come from the changes in my eating habits, vitamins and minerals, light exercise and stress relief through the education of your videos! Please don’t ever stop!❤❤❤

  2. Veggies???? So glad to hear that. We do enjoy our veggies. So tight with keto it was turning me off a bit. Now with this adjustment…it works. Thank goodness and thank you!!

  3. Both myself and my husband have lowered our cholesterol to normal levels by following your advice to leave 4 hours between meals so that blood sugar has a chance to lower. It works!

  4. I’m almost 70 years old and all I have to do is compare what we ate growing up with what people are eating now to see where the problems are coming from. Even at school we had lunches of real food that were cooked right there in the cafeteria, and the concept of candy and soda machines in a school would have been laughed right out of the room by both teachers and parents.
All you have to do is go online and look at old class photos from 50 years ago to see the difference in diet between then and now and see what modern processed food has done to people.

    • Totally agree / grew up in the 50’s and school cafeteria lunches were nutritious – parents and employees cooked them fresh daily👍😀

    • @Artist Carolyn Grace The last time I looked at my city’s school lunch menu online there were only two days with a serving of vegetables in a two week period. The rest was microwaved junk food. It’s unbelievably appalling.

    • @imjoeimjoe I know. Not that the 50’s and 60’s and 70’s were perfect, of course. A lot of the pesticides and chemicals in common use then were dangerous and have since been banned and the rivers and lakes were filthy, but the basic diet was mostly real food.

    • @E B I took a trip to Canada 20 +years ago, they had me drink the water right out of the lakes, and I was born in 1980, so old enough to watch it all fall.

  5. Perfect timing. Just had my bloods back and my cholesterol isn’t particularly high, but my ratio to good/bad cholesterol isn’t great. I’m not overweight and my diet is good. So the info in this vid was very useful…. Thanks doc 👍🏻

  6. No such thing as bad cholesterol except one that nobody pay attention usually, TG. And any carbs will increase them for most, even if not for all. So happy to have found carnivore.

  7. After Dr. Berg’s videos on Sauerkraut I decided to try it, using only purple cabbage. 9 months later, I have less chest pain, lower cholesterol, and higher general health; my doctor is flabbergasted. Thank you for all you do Dr. Berg👑🏆

  8. I love autophagy! Yesterday I fasted 20 hours while drinking Dr. Berg’s Electrolyte Powder, and I felt sooo good, alert and not hungry at all. Muscles are more defined, too.

  9. I’m a carnivore and enjoying it’s immense benefits!! (weight loss being only one of dozens). That said, I always supplement my OMAD meal with sauerkraut/garlic. I’ve never been so healthy, had amazing mental clarity and energy, as I am now @ 67. Most people who see me assume I’m at most in my mid forties…🥩👊👏😂

    • Omad is the dumbest trend ever. You really think starving yourself & then binging all your calories in one sitting is good for your digestive tract? 🤦‍♀️

  10. Another Great video! I’ve been making Lentil soup for over a year now. Cabbage, Carrots, Spinach, Parsley, Celery, Onions, Garlic, and healthy spices like Tumeric, etc.

  11. Great to know. However Dr Berg, don’t you think that some vegetables contain more carb, more sugar? Beets, carrots, onions, etc…. I think you should make a video on that topic.
Something else: I like to listen regularly to your videos, because even if sometimes I don’t learn much, you encourage me and I am sure many others to stick to a healthy diet. You are our guide, our gourou, so we need to see and listen to you often.😉

  12. You are superb Dr Berg!! Thank you for your content that is changing & saving lives!!🎉🎉

  13. I love these short videos. My attention span is not too good. Short and to the point.

  14. Thank you Dr. Berg. IF has made my skin look so much healthier and I look younger. I feel great. Salads, eggs and ground beef. I admit I’ll eat a baked potato sometimes.

  15. I am so glad I always loved vegetables 🥗 even as a little child Thank you Dr Berg 🫡👊🏾

  16. Could you please make a video explaining how fiber negates carbs? I am sceptical of this concept, but maybe it does work. If so, how does it work?
