Today I want to cover the best foods for kidney disease.

The top causes of kidney problems are diabetes, insulin resistance, and high-sugar, high-carb diets.

Consuming a low-carb diet, like the Healthy Keto® diet, and doing intermittent fasting are two of the best things you can do to help prevent kidney disease.

But, if you have stage 3A through stage 5 kidney disease, you may want to consider making some adjustments to your keto plan.

If you have a kidney problem, it’s important to work with your doctor to make sure certain nutrients aren’t out of range. These nutrients include potassium, sodium, and phosphorus. Protein levels can also become too high if someone has a kidney problem.

The best diet tips for kidney disease:
• Consume lower amounts of high-quality protein (pasture-raised organic eggs, wild-caught fish, seafood, and grass-fed, grass-finished beef)
• Consume lower amounts of sodium (2,300 mg of sodium per day)
• Avoid processed foods and junk foods
• Avoid high-potassium foods and consume low-potassium foods
• Avoid soda
• Avoid foods high in phosphorus
• Take the natural form of certain vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin D3)
• Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids (take cod liver oil)

    😺👍

  6. Thanks. Been 2 years on dialysis. In the process of being on the list. I fast 20 hrs a day and still make some urine. And the fasting helps with inflammation too. I’m 31.

  7. Dr. berg needs to be on Joe Rogan! Who’s with me! Reach out to him I’m sure he’d love to have you on!

  8. We live, we learn, and sometimes we never learn, what’s good for us and what’s bad for us. Thank you, Dr. Berg for the knowledge that you teach us!!!

  9. I am continually amazed that none of you mention wild game. We talk about grass fed beef, but we don’t talk about the health benefits of going out in pursuing an attorney in your own food.

  10. If you haven’t already, could you give us some information about sucrose glucose and fructose. Fructose always seems to be the bad guy and I am not sure why thanks. Is sugar less damaging as long as it is not in high fructose corn syrup?

  11. Thank you, always, for sharing and also for writing down information!!! You’re awesome, Dr. Berg!

  12. I am unable to eat cucumber, gherkin, squash, peppers, chilli or pumpkin as they give me excruciating stomach pains and as they are often the ‘hidden’ ingredients of many prepared foods and drinks it limits my diet considerably!
