Let’s talk about how to reduce stress using ashwagandha.
Ashwagandha is an herb that has been around for a very long time and has minimal side effects.
Potential benefits of ashwagandha:
• It’s an incredible adaptogen (it helps you cope with stress and depression)
• It may help increase exercise performance
• It may help decrease cortisol
• It may help reduce fibroids
• It has anti-inflammatory properties
• It may help improve the immune system
• It supports cognitive function
• It may help lower blood sugar levels
It seems like natural alternatives are always attacked. Recently, there has been some fear around ashwagandha because, like other natural remedies, it’s not FDA-approved.
The committees that approve drugs have a lot of conflicts of interest. Many medications that are FDA-approved have a massive number of side effects, but people take them without hesitation.
You may find it beneficial to try ashwagandha and come off of it for a while to see how you feel. Ashwagandha is powerful for stress, but you may not need it after you change your lifestyle and get rid of stress. Natural remedies are great tools but aren’t meant to be taken for the rest of your life.

Ashwaganda and bacon! No drugs and alcohol, no mask on, fresh air, and vitamin D does a body good! Thank You, Dr. Berg! 💪
No pig on my table!😂
@S. Bickhamsux to be you
How can you tell if bacon is organic though? And not grain fed, finding it hard to find that – so gave up😢
@indigosmyth7475 a grain fed pig will not k I ck you out of ketosis…that said a simple Google search will pull up many options for organic pasture raised bacon
It’s a traditional herb here in India mainly to boost testosterone and to cope up with stress and to have better sleep
what about Tongkat Ali? Is that popular in India too?
Thank you
Yes
@Lilian Flynnyes, it’s a traditional herb
aren’t there a lot of recent news about ashwaganda actually cutting testosterone and chemically castrating men that take it?
If it’s not FDA approved then it must be beneficial
Facts lol
101%
Exactly
I usually say if it’s not advertised it’s good for you.
😂
Thank God at 63 next month, I’ve never had any maintenance drugs but my 5 siblings have. Happy to say I do IF (omad) & keto & take some supplements since I first learned about Dr. Berg. He’s incredibly helpful! 😊
Yesterday I took Ashwagandha before going to my dentist for a root canal. It did it’s job and is my go-to when I need unnerving. Thank you Dr Berg for the reinforcement.
What brand did you take?
How did you take it?
It takes 4 to 6 weeks to see any effects bud
Good to know I had 5 hypnosis treatments before even a dentist consultation! I’m saddened you for a root canal, worse thing ever ,,, I’m having mine removed
With all your great knowledge and hard work that goes into doing what you know and to help people that really want the help is much respected and appreciated by me and others! Thank you Dr. Berg!!!
I appreciate your support!
Thank you dr. Berg….I am really aware and careful about my diet and I would say it’s around 90% clean and still working on it also with supplements and it’s been a while now…in spite of that my HbA1c got a point higher the last time I checked and that for me was clear proof that it was the stress causing it…I had totally gone of all grains, gluten, most fruits, and eat mostly unprocessed, blue fish, loads of veggies….I am still doing everything I can to heal depression, fatigue, Hashimoto’s and some serious life issues that all together are causing a lot of stress…I do take ashwaganda with other adaptogens but have not yet felt the benefits…I wonder how long it will take, it has already been a few months….I keep thinking in my case there is a missing link because I am doing so much. also working a lot on my mindset through hypnosis, meditation, etc
Magnesium? Do some research online… I would recommend the topical magnesium oil which is absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
Ashwagandha doesn’t work for me at all. What helps us Rhodiola in the morning.
I’d love to talk to you about this!!!
@T TephiI got so itchy, I couldn’t stand it!
@T Tephi thanks, I do take magnesium, I take a lot of things…😅
Thank you for doing this video.
I have been caring for my mother, who has Alzheimers for 10 months, 24 hours a day without a day off, and I can tell that my cortisol levels are EXTREMELY out of wack. I’ve never had an issue with my weight or weight in my tummy, but I do right now.
I appreciate this more than you know. I actually bought some ashwaganda powder for stress, but I haven’t started taking it yet, so I greatly appreciate this video.
Thank you!
❤️🙏🏻❤️
Take B1. I wish you all the best take care.God Bless you.
@BainsPummy
I do take different B vitamins, because my family usually runs low in it, especially B12.
I will look into B1 specifically, though. Thank you
What kind do you take?
@Kathryn Willette I take Bi Benfotiamine
Edit* I’m speaking to ashwaganda in response to the OP
You won’t have any regrets! If you take 300mg like right now and another 300 before sleep- just make sure you have room for 7 or 8 hours of rest, your body likely needs it- you will notice a difference within a day. I just started less than a week ago and needed it more than I knew. I could cry from gratitude. Blessings to you and your family ❤
I stopped taking Ashwagandha after I read that it could cause issues with the liver. Considering that I was having liver problems, I opted to instead try other adaptogens.
I don’t take my adaptogens before work because it makes me too mellow and more importantly, it makes time go by too slowly. Taking it after work has been agreeable for me.
It’s traditional Indian Herb
Lots of love and respect for Dr Berg and entire Human Race ❤
I appreciate you uploading this educative video. I’m been taking Ashwandha for about three weeks now. As a person with GA due to ADHD (without hyperactivity), ASD (most likely “Asperger”), and a single mother and woman of color in almost mid 40s who exercises moderately to mitigate fibromyalgia, I take this high dosage in the AM. I started to take it 3 weeks ago. So far it’s working great with stress. Thank you for reading my long story 😅 ❤❤
Try reading my previous novel❣️LOL!
Do you have ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder? H=Hyperactivity.
Did it make you tired during the day?
Good morning Dr Berg, After I lost my wife last year, I kind of lost purpose in life, while searching for the answers I found you and listening to you I started taking Ashwagandha, Vitamin D,B1 some of your other Supplements and got on healthy Keto walking in nature, that emptyness may never end but you taught me how to live a healthy life and manage stress. Thank You Sir, may God Bless You.
I’m sorry for your loss 😢
@Taco Of Love Thanks.
I am so sorry for your loss and what you have been going through . I know the feeling you are speaking of. It is the worst. You are doing the best you can to help yourself by being mindful of your health , mentally and physically . I will pray for you to have peace and less uneasy feeling .
Did your stress go away with ashwagandh
@Vanita Gomes Yes it did.
I wish that all Doctors and Healthcare practitioners cared as much as Dr Berg. God Bless this man!
Thanks for your comment. Appreciate it!
I’m 33 years old, as growing up my mom said she never trusted doctors or believe them. As I got to my late 20’s I realized she wasn’t just crazy/ old mentality of thinking. Thank you for being brave enough to risk backlash for educating the masses.
Love the videos. As a pharmacist I’ve actually referred a few patients to your videos that have mentioned wanting to try natural alternatives (prefaced with check with your doctor). It’s crappy dispensing this junk to people every day but if I can help a few people find health with less medication it’ll be worth it.
I’ve been taking it for 4 months and I’ve received all of the benefits you mentioned. I’ve had chronic stress especially after kicking some anti depressants. This helped me to stay off of the sertraline I was taking as well as reduced chronic inflammation I was experiencing. Haven’t had any negative side effects. Highly recommend it.
Dr. Eric Berg, thank you for caring enough to produce ample video’s on teaching folks how to care for self. This “Dramatically Reduce Cortisol Stress: Ashwagandha,” video is an example. You’ve changed many lives.
Ashwagandha is part of my daily supplement intake for two years. I started it during a severe anxiety episode and it really helped. I keep taking it every morning as it kind of takes the edge and keeps me focused and more relaxed😊
If you don’t mind me you take it with food or not?when I take it with a meal I get nauseous and throw up
