Rachelle is an independent nutritionist and a metabolic health and weight loss specialist. As a child and teenager, Rachelle was lean and athletic. At the age of 23, she gained weight, despite no change in diet or activity level, other than the new high grain, low-fat diet that Australian Dietary Guidelines then promoted. With a diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis and eventually gestational diabetes, she was unaware of the link of insulin resistance in these conditions.

It would take 15 years of hard work and studying to find out why. In 2017, Rachelle changed her practice from being predominately focused on gut-related issues with nutrition, to become focused on weight loss with low carbohydrate and high healthy fat diets. She has a very high success rate with her patient-focused, individualised diet plans, backed by strong scientific evidence.

Rachelle has a background in food journalism and is a serious cook. She has a Masters Degree of Human Nutrition from Deakin University, a Bachelor of Nursing, as well as a Bachelor of Management.

Losing weight and eating health dose work

  2. Very good talk. I hope she is able to cut through with other medical professionals, and more research gets done. The woman behind her reminded me of a political press conference, where there is someone immediately behind the politician who tries to reinforce the message by nodding at every statement. It is a bit distracting

    • I think you mean protein and fat, which in the absence of carbohydrates results in ketones and, if followed for several days, results in ketosis.

  3. As an ‘old’ physician, we were NOT just taught about ketoacidosis. I was taught (in biochemistry class) that brain and myocardium (and possibly parts of kidney) preferred ketones as a fuel. We learned very little about ‘adult onset diabetes’ because it was pretty rare. Dieticians were few and far between and mostly worked in hospitals. The wider community didnt need them

  4. I was diagnosed with diabetes in Oct 2021. I decided to try low carb seriously for 3 months to see if it would work. And it did! No drugs. It’s now been 21 months and I have lost more than 20% of my starting weight (gone from 80kg down to 62kg), my waist has gone from 44″ down to 36″, my blood pressure has gone down, sleep quality has improved. I’m metabolically healthy confirmed by my blood test and scans. Only “issue” is that my LDL has gone up; but trigs have gone down and HDL gone up and gives a good ratio. I’ve listened to a lot on the internet about this and read many comments by people who have had the same thing happen and really don’t think this is an issue; I believe that the inflammation is what causes damage in the blood vessels and the body’s reaction is to create the plague. I do *not* believe that saturated fats cause heart disease.
