Let’s talk about the benefits of magnesium and the dangers of magnesium deficiency.

A deficiency in magnesium could put you at risk for certain health concerns, such as:
• High blood pressure
• Arrhythmias
• Tetany or twitching
• Leg or foot cramps
• Fatigue
• Diabetes
• Insulin resistance
• Depression
• Inflammation

The RDAs for magnesium are 300 to 750 mg. But some people may need much higher amounts. It’s important to consume foods high in magnesium and avoid certain things that deplete magnesium.

Foods rich in magnesium are the ones high in chlorophyll, which would be green vegetables. The top things that deplete magnesium are sugar and refined carbohydrates.

Other things that can lead to a magnesium deficiency include:
• Diarrhea
• Diuretics
• Antibiotics
• Alcohol consumption
• Age

For a magnesium supplement, you have a few different good options, including:
• Magnesium citrate
• Magnesium lactate
• Magnesium glycinate
• Magnesium aspartate
• Magnesium gluconate

Magnesium is important for the absorption of vitamin D and B vitamins. It also helps support healthy cortisol levels, which can reduce stress and help you sleep better.

  2. Thanks to you Dr. Berg i have increased my salad/vegetables and it has made a great difference in my health.🙏

  3. Thanks for making a video about The Low Magnesium Epidemic, I need this. As always it’s such a great topic, really useful information to everyone

  4. 🧐”Magnesium Bisglycinate is attached to 2 glycine molecules. It attracts less water & has much higher absorption rate. Glycine also helps reduce pH in small intestine, supporting absorption & preventing magnesium deficiency. Beneficial for improving magnesium status, generally well-tolerated & unlikely to cause loose diarrhea. Involved in everything from energy metabolism, muscle contraction, DNA synthesis, blood glucose regulation & reproduction. It’s one the most effective types of magnesium due to its bioavailability.👍‍😎👍‍

    • Just make sure when you get glycinate that it’s got a 100% daily requirement of magnesium in it, don’t just go by milligrams because the daily requirement for magnesium varies WILDLY in magnesium glycinate supplements. It might say 750mg of magnesium glycinate per serving and only have 15% of the rda of magnesium in it. I use Nutricost magnesium glycinate, it has a full days supply of the rda of magnesium in it bound to the glycine.

    • So should the Canadian documentary “The Corporation”. My favorite clip on YouTube is called “The Corporation unsettling accounts”. The documentary has so many parts to it. People have no idea how much we are lied to. I even believe that climate change is just another Miasma theory. And in reality, you will notice presently less talk about electric cars and more about hybrids. This is do to a change in political regimes coming and the public wising up. The coldest and hottest year of my life was in 1966 and the air and water was filthy when I was young. Now it has been cleaner than ever and the population in the U.S. has doubled. Nascent industries that wanted to grow got everyone into the fold with the highest levels of coordination of even scientists. There is no climate change and if there is, that has nothing to do with pollution and humans. So many people argue with me but they don’t understand how corporations and brainwashing work. The supposed “News” is just another show. They show natural events as if they are related to pollution. These things always happened except when I was young, media only covered very local weather and at times national events.

    • No, don’t say that Helene! It would destroy a huge customer base for The Agro-industrial-food Industries along with The Chemical-Pharmaceutical Industries not to mention fast-food-delivery drivers.

Please think about those people waiting for their pizzas and deep-fried carbs and flavoured-sugar-dipping-sauces to be delivered.

    • @Spam Mouse 😆 yes, very sorry 😢 new jobs will be created…farmers foods delivery! 😁😁

  5. I had a minor lower back injury recently and back soreness for yrs. I started taking magnesium glycinate 4 sleep but I noticed after several wks there was no back pain nor soreness. The only thing I did differently was introduced magnesium, so I figured its helping with that. Also I rarely have anxiety anymore

  6. Lack of magnesium caused my wrestles legs syndrome, but I found all electrolytes are best. Love your electrolytes powder Dr Berg. In FL summer, it’s needed!

  7. I used to have horrendous leg cramps. I had first one at around 16, my toes got all wrangled and my mom told me to put my foot on the floor to straighten them, and it went away that is. Over years they were becoming worse and worse. They would mostly happen in winter, when my feet were cold, mostly, as I have adhd, I sit on my legs, and from time to time, I would lift my self by arm rests and flip the legs beneath me, and at that moment, so often I would get leg cramps. They would go on for like half an hour. putting my foot on the ground no longer was enough, I had to put my foot on the floor to straighten my toes from bellow, and then stand with my other foot, over the toes of cramped foot, and stand like that for half an hour before they would finally leave me alone. And I would have multiple of those a day…

I used to take magnesium supplements constantly, and since I was chronically constipated, I was drinking Mg rich water, as that seemed to help. But I still had these horror leg cramps

Then, for unrelated reasons such as bloating, constant farting, I used to say “it’s like breathing on the opposite end, you bloat slowly, then you uncontrollably fart, and deflate instantly, and it’s really unpleasant as you bloat, and really painful when you suddenly deflate, and you are never sure if other ppl can smell it, and it’s like breathing on the wrong end”, being unable to keep my eyes open after the meal – imagine that in open plan office, my skin being like a raw nerve, I literally felt all of my clothes as if it was sand paper on my skin, and world wobbling like it’s inside of a cartoon jelly when I would open my eyes after resting them for a moment. there were probably more, but these are the ones I remember, and yes, constipation, some years ago, I went of gluten.

All these aforementioned symptoms stopped almost within first 24 hours, maybe not bloating, as such, but definitely that sensation of breathing on the wrong end aspect of bloating, went away immediately. It took me few months tho to realize that my leg cramps went away. I was laying in bed and I started to stretch, and I felt the cramp coming on. Now, years ago, when I would start to cramp while stretching, I would turn my toes towards my head, and the cramp would stop, but that stopped working long ago. Still, I did it, and I didn’t cramp… I was like “boy, that was lucky”

then few days later, same thing happen, and I was like “what are the odds? I couldn’t avoid cramps for like a decade, and now I managed to skip 2 in a row, what changed”? I stopped eating gluten, that changed. I’ve never seen anyone mention gluten and leg cramps, EVER, so now I take my time every time someone speaks about leg cramps, to tell my story. I used to have 30 minute long leg cramps until some 7 years ago, and not a single one since. Go figure

    • My cousin did that for her psoriasis. She did process of elimination. She cannot have sugar, dairy or gluten. I’m about to start that, as I’m so bloated and feel like crap my entire life. I used to have leg cramps as well. I think mine is from loss of water

    • Your symptoms sound like my mothers. Unfortunately she won’t listen to anyone without the MD after their name.

    • Gluten affects my joints, too much locks me up. I would get spasms all over. Especially in my stomach, sides, and back. Dr gave magnesium but it made them worse.

  8. The clever dr.! It never happened that I tried your ideas, methods and recipes without achieving their amazing results with me. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for all these efforts you are doing for the world. God bless🫶

  9. Excellent video, Dr. Berg. It is so good to understand magnesium’s role in our health. Shouldn’t it be taught in grade school? Right at the beginning of one’s education.

  10. Watching from Malaysia! Thanks Dr. Berg for sharing your knowledge. I’m more informed about nutrients that my body needs. I share your videos with my family members.

  11. I suffered from restless legs syndrome for over a decade. When I began taking magnesium the restless legs went away within a few days. Over the years, I have stopped taking magnesium multiple times and within a few weeks the restless legs return…start on magnesium again and it disappears. The cause-effect is rock solid in my experience.

  12. Great points Dr. Berg, people are “over fed and definitely under nourished”! Facts!!! Always great information. Thank You for all your great and greatly informative information!!!

  13. My daughter learned about taking magnesium from her naturopath this year. She talked about it with me and encouraged me to start taking it. Ever since I started I’ve had no leg cramps (which I used to have nightly) and my sore knees have improved about 90%. It’s amazing.
