  1. Thanks for posting and best of luck Mayra. A clean low carb diet isn’t as restrictive as the Keto and allows for more variety. Achieving metabolic flexibility is what’s worked for me ✌

    • Same here!! I finally changed my mentality as well. Slow and steady I’m losing inches and gaining muscle

    • @LowCarbLove I got this from Vince Saint (vshred) yes I watched his video, very long. But what he said for my body type, has worked for me, when I’ve plateaud. (say from being keto for a while, and after not seeing results, switching to low carb for a few days) then I check the scale and I continue dropping weight. And even when the scale plateaus, I know I’m still losing fat, because I can see my muscles growing and my clothes feels much better than when, “I weighted the same ” last year.

  2. I going into my second week of doing keto and I felt sooo energetic so light just so good overall and one day i definitely had a high carb day and oh my gosh the difference I felt from the crash to the long naps after I definitely would love to incorporate keto as my lifestyle or even just low carb . Love you and your channel 🤍

  3. I don’t feel Keto as a diet, rather a life style. Losing a few items that are high in carbs is not a killer for me.

    • That is how I feel too. I cut out gluten simply because I didn’t feel good when I ate it plus I tested positive for an allergy to wheat. Gluten-free makes me feel sluggish and tired so I was cutting out those products too. I do miss ice cream and candy bars but I guess that is the way it goes.

    • @Traveling Girlgluten is a tiny little part of carbs
      No grains
      No beans
      No starchy vegs
      No fruit
      No milk

    • Carbs are an addiction for a lot of people. All the friends I know who added back small amounts of their favourite junk/carb foods after losing weight on keto eventually gained it all back. I’m the only one who lost the weight & kept it off, mainly because I stick to very low carb.

    • Absolutely! It should always be a lifestyle. I’m the same, low carb is a lifestyle for me now and I loved doing keto, it just didn’t make sense for my lifestyle long term. Now, I’m still very much low carb, eating an average of 40-50g total carbs daily. Some of my days are much lower, and once a month, they can be much higher. Always do what’s best for you! All of my recipes here will still be low carb and keto friendly 😊

  4. Yes, completely support your decision! Low carbs and whole foods are the best choice for my normal life. As less sugar free stuff, sauces, processed foods, just keeping it real with real stuff like red meat, chicken, fish, seafood, fruit and veggies, gluten free grains, and no bread, tortillas, junk food, bacon and all the treated meats. Just clean nutrition🎉

  5. There’s a season for everything. Your keto season is over. Thank you soooo much for all of the amazing recipes!! I’m low carb for medical reasons. It’s a serious struggle. And adding work and four kids into the mix makes the struggle real!! Lol

  6. I’ve been eating keto for 2 months and my weight loss is slow but steady. More importantly, I saw my endocrinologist yesterday and she said I am no longer diabetic. I have been off any meds for over 2 months and my average blood sugar has been 79. She told me I could stop testing and just continue what I am doing. This is a long time coming as I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2000.

    • Type 2 runs in my family that was the reason i went on Keto 4yrs ago. I lost all of my weight 65 lbs now 100 lbs. I will never stop this lifestyle it works.

    • That is seriously amazing! I know the diet gets a lot of opinions, but I know of so many people that it has helped, your story is one of those. Congratulations on getting off the meds, I know that must feel like such a relief ❤

    • Congratulations on your weight loss and getting off of medication. Keep up the great work! Happy for you! 😊

    • Congratulations 🎉! So happy for you !!
I got diagnosed with T2D 2 years ago & I got off insulin a few months back , I haven’t done any crazy diets but I’m hoping to start incorporating some of this into my lifestyle …. & see how it helps with my sugars … my mom also got diagnosed with T2D 1-2 months after I did and I hope to help her make some changes as well with her , might also incorporate this lifestyle with her ! 😊♥️✨

    • Te felicito a ti y a tu esposo.

  8. I’ve gained 9 pounds since I stopped Keto in Feb. However, I think portion control and mindful eating has been very helpful to avoid gaining all the weight back.

    • Usually, I think the reason this happens to many people is that they still keep the fats in a relatively high range now IN ADDITION to the carbs. It’s tough to transition when you’re accustomed to eating such a high percentage of fat

    • I know I will gain weight after transitioning from Keto to Low carb and I wonder if I should lose more than my goal so I have the room to gain??? Not sure if that’s even a thing lol.

    • You just confirmed why I can never leave keto. Losing 9 lbs is no small feat, and I sure as hell don’t want any weight back once it’s gone.

    • @Joe_C.  good point, I didn’t even think of that!! Oh boy, lots to learn for this transition but appreciate it!

    • I think the intermittent fasting time is also very important. Fasting Foodie lost weight & maintains that weight loss with just an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle with an eating window of usually 22:2 6 days a week of an OMAD, a down day of 500 calories with the OMAD & then 1 up day with eating 2 or 3 meals within usually a 6-hour window. She clean fasts, which is very important. No diet soda during the fasting time. She will drink water, plain coffee or sparkling water with plain LMNT in it during her fasting time. She eats a good variety of food.

  9. I completely agree Mayra! I did keto/I.F. for about 4 yrs. It became too restrictive for me as well. Now I just focus on I.F. 18/6 or more.
I would still consider myself low carb compared to the average person. Now I have the freedom to enjoy carbs while still being mindful of food quality. Zero guilt if I want a treat on occasion. Still in maintenance and with peace of mind😌

    • I absolutely love this! I also IF as well, and I know it can sound scary at first, but it will always get easier over time. I’m glad that you know yourself and that you can live life with maintenance and peace of mind.

    • @mellybear IF = Intermittent Fasting . Most people will fast for 18:6, which 18 hours no food and a 6 hour eating window of usually TMAD (2 meals a day). Some will do an IF of 20:4 or 22:4 with an OMAD (one meal a day).

    • @mellybear It’s short for Interment Fasting it’s a lifestyle where you restrict yourself from eating a certain amount of time for example your last meal would be at 8pm until your first meal at 12pm the next day so that’s what’s called a 16/8 IF window. you don’t eat for 16 hours (including the time you’re sleeping ) and have 8 hours to eat all your meals preferably three meals in those 8 hours but a lot of people choose two instead. You can choose to change the time that best works for your lifestyle as not everyone can do 8pm-12pm. The trick is you have to always break your fast with a healthy meal high in protein, healthy fat, and fiber. you can not break your fast with bread or junk food otherwise you won’t see the results you would want. IF really does work I absolutely love it, It has helped me lose a lot of weight and it helps so much with bloating and gut wealth. you should do some research on it. I follow Autumn Bates here on youtube she’s great at explaining exactly how it works. Mayra also has videos here talking about it. Hopes this explain a little bit. Good night

    • Same here, I.F
+ low carb MOST OF THE TIME, and working out, I’m slowing losing weight, can’t wait to reach my goal like you, congrats 👏🏻

  10. I have been doing low carb for 3 years . Lost 43 lbs and maintaining the weight loss. You’re right, it is a life style now, not a diet. I actually feel guilty if I taste anything high carb. I did Atkins many years ago and weight watchers. Lost weight on both but gained it back once I stopped those diets.
Living low carb is so much easier now with all the products out there to help. I’m 75 and even my husband says I look better than I ever did and he is not one to throw around compliments. I ride a stationary bike every day for 30 minutes and I feel like I’m in my thirties. My heath is excellent so don’t let anyone tell you that low carb is unhealthy. Even my doctors are impressed.
I wish I had done this many years ago.
Good luck with your journey. I enjoy your you tube channel. ❤

    • That’s awesome!!! Do you do IF? I’m trying to gather ideas on how to transition to low carb from Keto and I’m nervous lol!! But Myra brings up a great topic which has me thinking about the transition.

    • That’s so sad that you feel guilty. God gave us FOOD and carbs to sustain us. Don’t feel guilty because you’ve been influenced by people to believe something is bad.

    • @thedeels7522  I think its more about our discipline to not eat high carbs and how hard we work to make that happen. Then when we have our cheat days or eat something we normally wouldn’t, naturally there is guilt because we have broken that discipline. I have felt the same, it’s nothing bad, just a pressure we put on ourselves just like any other human does. A big reason why keto is so successful. Discipline.

  11. Thank you so much for your support in this video! I just want to clarify – I will continue to post low carb recipes, and honestly, most are still very much keto friendly for those of you who are still on keto. As much as I’ve loved doing keto for the last 5 years, the transition back to low carb just makes more sense for me and my lifestyle. Keto did work for me, and I want to make it clear that if keto works for you, then I encourage you to always do what’s best for your life and lifestyle. Always lead with a health mentality 😊 If you have any questions, comments, feel free to add them here! Love you guys ❤

    • I’ve watched your content over the last year, and I have considered most of your recipes “low carb” (not strictly “keto”)…making delicious meals with a conscious effort to avoid unnecessary carbs. As a person who lost 75 pounds in the last year walking this fine line, I’m extremely interested in what content you come up with for the next era of your channel. Best wishes!

    • I’ve been doing keto/ low carb diets to help control blood sugar. I do lose weight also. Now I’m battling with an elevated cholesterol. So my diet is super restricted. Any recipe suggestions? I’ve been watching you a long time. You have definitely have inspired me.

    • We are doing a low-carb lifestyle nit strict keto just healthier low carb options. I love your channel ❤️ .

  12. Hi Mayra!
Been watching your channel from way back. Gotten the best recipes from you. I lost 70 lbs on Keto. I also developed gallstones, so I had to cool it on the high fat, so went low carb. I have been fighting with ovarian cancer and have been off and on Chemo 3x since 2018. I’ve gained some weight back and really needed to hear this to get myself back on track. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤👍🤗

  13. I ate keto for almost 5 years. I loved the fact that I was never hungry between meals and that, even after menopause, I still had a very discernible waistline. But my cholesterol, which was always a problem, went even higher. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had several surgeries, family and friends visited and brought food. I couldn’t refuse their thoughtfulness! I didn’t gain any weight when bringing back carbs, but within a month I lost my waistline, and look like a average 62 year old woman with a thick middle. Like you, I am more focused on getting healthy. I still maintain my weight through exercise, but cannot get my keto body back. I am leaning toward low glycemic carbs, meat and cruciferous veggies, nuts, seeds and some dairy. No sugar, of course.

  14. I have been on Keto for over a year. I went on it to improve my metabolic health and lost 35 lbs at age 65. I’m almost at my high school weight which is crazy. But as you stated, it’s not really about weight loss for me at this point. I just want to stay healthy and stay out of the doctor’s office. Thanks for all you do.❤

  15. I appreciate that this was NOT a click bait video. Thanks for your transparency in letting us know. I too think that a low carb VS a completely keto diet, is more suitable for me as well. Blessings Myra!

  16. My husband and I did this too. We did healthy keto for a little over a year and a half. We also eliminated several bad ingredients from our diet. We both have lost 90 pounds. We moved away from keto and just eat healthy and limit carbs whenever possible. We continue to do intermittent fasting as well.

  17. This video could not have come at a better time!!! I’ve been struggling so much 😩 I started keto probably around 5 years ago too…I lost 60 pounds the first time, gained it back for a while, got sick of being heavy again, did keto plush intermittent fasting, lost the 60 again, started menopause and my Dad got sick with cancer and passed away in January…I put about 40 pounds back on and now I can’t lose anything 😭I also got diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I’m so frustrated and tired of constantly living with this restricted mindset for so long and not see anything happening now. I want to be healthy and enjoy myself but also want to feel good about myself too. It’s tough being in my 50s. I know my body is changing and what used to work just doesn’t anymore with my metabolism. I’m at a loss. I won’t give up and I think I’m going to maybe be low carb for a while by eating healthy foods but not worrying about trying to stay under 20 carbs a day. Sorry for the pity party…it’s just been a tough year in so many aspects. ❤

    • Things will get better. ❤
Go easy on you, love and be patient with yourself. How about starting little by little? Baby steps are still steps, and even if you moved just a bit, it’s still movement.
      You got this! 🥰
Hugs, from a stranger who understands what it feels like to touch rock bottom.

    • Your telling my story! Yo-yo weight gain and loss over and over again. It has been embarrassing for me, I would do Atkins then Keto only to stop n put it all back n then some, I told myself no more! Start moving and try again, stress had been my enemy but from here on out I will not let it have power over me. Please keep going and stay strong for YOU

  18. I was keto about 9 months and it served its purpose for me. I did lose weight and fast, but being keto showed me how strong I was. That I was able to resist the bad foods that got me to my highest weight of 340. I just got to a point where I knew how to eat healthy, I work out regularly and my entire life is just different now. I am 240 now and still losing weight. When I was out with family
and friends it was helllaaaa stressful not being able to enjoy being out because I couldn’t eat with them. I would literally be at the table like, “does the salad dressing have sugar? Just oil and vinegar please…”. I was out, my friends ordered a charcuterie board and I was like guys….I’m going to eat this cracker?? They were like girl, if you don’t eat that damn cracker. Lol. It felt crazy after so long to eat a real carb. But it felt great. I learned that I could balance and I was no longer the person I was. I am still primarily low carb. If I want a flippin baked potato though I’m going to eat it.

  19. I’ve been on keto for 4yrs. I’m no longer keto but I’m on a low carb lifestyle. I loved keto and it’s a great tool. I think it’s awesome for ppl that want to start. When I first started I was 184lbs in 2 months I was 165lbs. If I gain a few more pounds than I want I cut back but I’m living life. I have lost and gained but at a happy place. I love my bananas and watermelon and can’t no longer live without them.

  20. This lady Myra helped when I was diagnosed with type two diabetes, I learnt a lot from this channel for my KETO journey and I reversed my diabetes but incorporated a low carb diet. My blood sugar is under control, I not only reversed my diabetes but my retinopathy, neuropathy, massive inflammation and lost all skin tags. Thanks Myra and greetings from UK 🇬🇧
