She mentioned their product contains quorcetin, the same compound you stop taking as it was not proven to work for longevity.
I’ve never said that I take or stopped taking quercetin
I think you’re confusing him with Dr. Brad Stanfield
@Siim LandDo you take quercetin?

Save 1 hour:
1. **Importance of NAD in Aging:** NAD is a crucial molecule found in every cell, essential for energy production and cellular repair processes. Its decline with age is associated with reduced energy production and impaired repair mechanisms, contributing to the aging process.
2. **NAD and Lifestyle Factors:** Lifestyle factors such as excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, and an unhealthy diet can deplete NAD levels, while activities like exercise and fasting can increase NAD production. It’s important to be mindful of these factors to support NAD levels.
3. **NAD Recycling and Decline:** As people age, the body’s demand for NAD increases due to accumulated damage and inflammation, but its capacity to produce NAD decreases. This results in a significant decline in NAD levels, impacting cellular health.
4. **Circadian Rhythm and NAD:** NAD plays a role in regulating circadian rhythm, and maintaining NAD levels is crucial for proper sleep patterns. Exposure to natural daylight, a regular routine, and good sleep hygiene can help maintain alignment with the circadian rhythm.
5. **NAD Precursors and Supplements:** While NAD precursors can boost NAD production, it’s essential to address the root causes of NAD decline, such as inflammation and the CD38 enzyme. Relying solely on NAD precursors may not be effective and could worsen the situation.
6. **Managing CD38 Levels:** CD38 is a pro-inflammatory enzyme that can lead to NAD depletion and cellular damage. Natural compounds like quercetin, alpha lipoic acid, and others can help regulate CD38 and increase NAD levels.
7. **NAD Production Pathways:** The Salvage pathway is the primary method for producing NAD, and backup pathways exist to ensure an adequate supply of this vital molecule. Understanding these pathways can help in NAD management.
8. **Different Forms of Niacin:** There are different forms of niacin, including nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. Understanding their effects on cholesterol and insulin resistance is important, as well as avoiding mislabeling and confusion.
9. **Potential Effects of NAD Supplements:** NAD supplements have the potential to improve healthspan, and possibly extend lifespan when combined with other therapies. They offer a simple way to manipulate cellular health and overall well-being.
10. **Continued Research:** The podcast highlights the growing body of research on NAD and its role in aging. Staying informed about NAD supplements and aging science is essential for those interested in optimizing their health.
In summary, the key takeaway is that NAD is a critical molecule for cellular health and aging, and its decline can be influenced by both lifestyle choices and natural aging processes. Being proactive in maintaining NAD levels through a balanced lifestyle, managing CD38 levels, and considering NAD supplements as part of a broader health strategy may have a positive impact on healthspan and potentially lifespan.
Excellent, well-written summary. Thanks!
Thank you!!
ThX!
Appreciate
The question is: does it boost enough the recycling pathway so that we do not get to much NAM which can downreregulate SIRT1?
Downregulating cd38 sounds great but if you reduce too much inflammation, aren’t you exposing yourself more to cancer as you get older?
Same thing for nad, some cancer treatment are looking at downregulating nampt to avoid giving fuel to cancer cells.
Maybe the chronic inflammation you get in the body with cd38 and the downregulation of nampt as you get older is an adaptative process to keep cancerous cell at bay?
At the same time, chronic inflammation can also lead to cancerous cells.

Extremely interesting and well-explained. Thanks so much!
I’m confused because NAD declines with aging and CD38 increases. If CD38 requires NAD, then how is it increasing as NAD decreases?
Your observation is valid, and the relationship between NAD levels and CD38 expression is indeed complex. Let’s clarify this relationship:
1. **NAD Decline with Aging**: It is well-established that NAD levels tend to decline with aging. This decline in NAD+ levels can have various implications for cellular function, as NAD+ is involved in numerous cellular processes, including energy metabolism, DNA repair, and regulation of certain enzymes.
2. **CD38 and NAD Metabolism**: CD38 is an enzyme that consumes NAD+ as a substrate to produce metabolites such as cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR). As NAD+ is consumed by CD38, this can lead to further reduction in NAD+ levels within cells. CD38’s role in NAD metabolism can contribute to the decline in cellular NAD+ levels, especially in the context of aging.
3. **CD38 Expression and Aging**: CD38 expression can increase with age in some tissues and cell types. This increase in CD38 expression may contribute to the decline in NAD+ levels observed during aging, as it accelerates the consumption of NAD+.
So, you are correct in noting the apparent contradiction: declining NAD+ levels and increasing CD38 expression can reinforce each other, leading to a further reduction in cellular NAD+.
Researchers are actively studying this relationship to better understand how it impacts aging and age-related diseases. Strategies to counteract this decline in NAD+ levels may involve NAD+ precursor supplementation (e.g., nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide) or the development of CD38 inhibitors to slow down NAD+ consumption. These approaches aim to restore or maintain NAD+ levels and potentially mitigate some of the negative effects associated with NAD+ decline and increased CD38 activity in aging cells. However, it’s important to note that the effectiveness and safety of such strategies are still being investigated.
Dr. Conlon’s formula includes parsley, which is a CD38 inhibitor. Parsley is also consumed in large amounts in the Sardinia blue zone.
To summarize… this pill bad… my pill good… buy it… trust me.. I is science
To summarise… well said.
😊👍
This is SO confusing with Niacin…what about inositol hexaniconate ….you all DID NOT EVEN MENTION THIS FORM of Niacin
Bryan Johnson Blueprint, Ai will soon take the guess work out of it and all gurus and snake oil salesmen will soon be gone. See you in 2500
She is wrong about the NAD pathways. The Preiss-Handler pathway only uses nicotinic acid. Nicotinamide, NR, and NMN are all part of the salvage pathway, not the Preiss-Handler pathway. She said NR and NMN are part of the Preiss-Handler pathway, which is incorrect.
Thanks Siim. Her supplement sounds promising. However, it sounds like the only study done so far was by her company. We need independent scientific studies to confirm the findings. Also, the study supposedly confirmed that the supplement boosted NAD, but by itself this doesn’t tell us whether it actually improves actual health measures, like cardiovascular health, longevity, etc. Again, more studies are needed to verify actual health outcomes, not just NAD boosting.
Isn’t nicotinamide as cheap as dirt, yet her supplement sells for over $2 per dose. Don’t understand, please explain.
So if you have to work in irregular shifts you suck and if you have inflammation because of that and being attacked with pollutants and having a body thats breaking down … no one can and will help . You just have to keep the world turning for the day workers .
Which kind of exercise is best for increasing and activating NAD?
