    • *He answers your question directly in the video starting at about 8 minutes.* However, the real question is why did he leave prolonged fasting off the list and why wouldn’t one just do that instead of supplementing? I’m 51 and my mom is 77 (and she had a stroke 7 years ago) and we’re quite muscular from doing quite a few 3-day+ fasts over the last year; she does _not_ lift weights but does some body resistance work like squats while folding clothes, etc). I have to assume it’s from the HGH and stem cell production. My max is 134 hours (5 days, 14 hours), and 10 months ago I’d never fasted except when I was sleeping. Prolonged fasting benefits the entire endocrine system which obviously includes testosterone production as well.

    • It can be risky, because the body then thinks it doesn’t have to make them internally anymore. That’s my basic understanding!

    • I’m not saying you or your mothers experience didn’t happen, but it’s been demonstrated quite conclusively that human growth hormone is NOT anabolic with regards to skeletal muscle, and neither is testosterone within the normal physiological range (I.e. without exogenous steroids).   4. I’m 51, female, and got into IF and prolonged fasting 10 months ago. I lost fat and built muscle the most by my 3-day+ fasts. I’ve done 3 3-day, 1 4-day, and 2 5.5-day fasts in the last 10 months. I’ve only been this built back when I was at the gym lifting weights 3 times a week in my early 30s. Now I’m just living my rural farm life and have the same result because of the IF and prolonged fasting. And I’m omnivorous, clean keto with no supplementation for HGH.

    • @strizz It depends on your goals. I originally started fasting (IF and prolonged) to heal an auto-immune disorder (severe asthmatic response to histamine in food and produced by my body that I HAD to heal because I literally couldn’t EAT at all without causing an asthma attack) which I did. I fasted a LOT to make that happen (not to mention I was asymptomatic while I wasn’t eating so that made it easier).  

      In the _process_ I noticed my muscles getting really defined and my strength increasing! So, I don’t know what to tell you regarding how much to do to get that result, but my advice is to start upping your fasting lengths and see what happens over the next 6 months.

  5. This is great! It’s difficult to avoid temptations while on keto initially, until you understand the mechanism of what you’re winning. And that’s the context you provide with your videos! For me, it’s been the sleep! I have put on more weight on my midsection despite being on OMAD lately though. I gained some of that weight back, but my sleep is consistently great and my mood has improved as well as my digestion. I guess it’s just a matter of being patient! Thank You!

  6. I have found that taking a hot shower right before bed and keeping the bedroom cold, puts me to sleep fast and I don’t wake up until I’ve had 8-9 hours of sleep. Switching from a shower in the morning to a shower at night did wonders for my sleep. I’ve always slept with the A/C on 68 in the summer and heat shut off in the bedroom in the winter. I also use a white noise machine. My energy went through the roof. I’m 67, been diabetic for 12 years and on keto that long as well.

    • All great ideas. White noise machines are very necessary, IMO, especially, in the heart of large urban areas!

    • @whoknows8223  if you’re ever bothered by internal or external noises, white noise machines can partially or fully cover them to no noticeable! Game changer in some situations!

  8. Since I became familiar with Dr. Berg I have started being much more conscious of my carb intake, especially sugar. My PCP had me tested and he told me that I have a genetic predisposition to diabetes. I also found out that I was potassium and magnesium deficient. Learning from these videos has had an enormous effect on my personal preventative care routines.

    • Are you taking potassium and magnesium now if you do can you please share the brand and dosage example like in MG

    • @Nan’s Global Kitchen I take 400mg magnesium. I take a prescription dose of potassium, so I forget what the regular dosage would be but I wouldn’t take as much as I do without asking your doctor. As far as brands go, Himalaya is probably my favorite supplement brand.

    • Switching from keto to carnivore boosted my testosterone naturally, from 11mmol to 29mmol – previously my doc had considered try for me, now not required!

  10. This is an amazing video. Should be the starter for being educated in keto and intermittent fasting for why and how it works. As in keto is not for losing weight, it is for living and eating to keep the machine properly functioning. Been taking milk thistle for years, along with D3, zinc, and most all the other minerals. Will have to look into that pituitary gland support supplement, sounds interesting.

  12. It’s my understanding that plants consume oxygen at night by burning carbs for energy. It would be necessary to give plants a night-light for them to produce oxygen at night. P.S. My BP is down 50/30, I’ve lost loads of weight, and the heart related effects of a certain disease and vaccine were eliminated using the correct vitamins and amino acid. I have all the symptoms of what you list here, I guess it’s the next thing I’ll work on.
