There are obvious foods that can kill you, like refined sugar and carbs—but that’s not what we're going to talk about today.

Today, I’m going to cover six surprising foods that can kill you and a few potential natural antidotes.

The top deadliest foods:
1. Pufferfish (fugu)

2. Death cap mushroom

3. Korean baby octopus

4. Green potatoes

5. Raw chicken

6. Foods containing cyanide:
• The seeds or pits of apples, peaches, pears, and apricots
• Bitter almonds
• Cassava

It’s best to avoid any of the above at all costs.

  2. Thanks for the warning, DB. I’m pretty sure I had salmonella poisoning about a month ago. I was so sick, but thankfully, I’ve been doing keto for a while, so my immune system was ready for battle. I really thought i was going to die. I refuse to eat chicken ever again. I’ll eat their eggs all day, though, hahaha

  3. Thank you dr berg for the highlights on the danger of these foods. I grew up washing and cooking chicken and never get sick or spread bacteria around. I will never stop washing chicken. Its sticky and have the chicken smell. When you clean up properly then its fine.

  4. Another excellent video. Also check out the toxin Hypoglycin found in unripened Ackee fruit (Blighia sapida). For those of you who have never tried authentic Jamaican food, which is delicious, they serve a breakfast dish frequently called “Ackee & Saltfish.” It usually includes skillet cooked plantains. Probably not a dish to be recommending on this channel, but I’ll give it a quick mention for the sake of knowledge.

  5. I never thought Milk Thistle can be the antidote for Death Cap Mushroom. I saw a bunch of them when hiking in Austria this summer. They are beautiful gifts from nature!

  6. Dr Berg, the cyanide in seeds are in the form of amygdalin (AKA vitamin B17)
    The molecular structure of amygdalin consists of two glucose molecules, benzaldehyde, and hydrogen cyanide (HCN).
    i’ve read in some literatures that it’s useful in killing cancer cells while not harming normal cells.
    of course, we shouldn’t overconsume these seeds.

    maybe we’ll see a future video update on vitamin B17!
    personally, i’ve been consuming 3-5 apricot seeds almost everyday for 5+ years.
    and when i eat an apple, i consume the entire thing!

    • We have known this since the 70s. It’s called “laetrile”, and my friend flew to Mexico and had her cancer put in remission with the laetrile treatment. She had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Nothing new here, but the medical community has buried it, and made it into an ‘issue’. Why? Because it cures cancer.

  7. I’ve been eating apple seeds, and watermelon seeds for years. I was told that the cyanide levels are incredibly low in apple seeds. I read an article back in the early 2000s, it said the anti cancerous vitamin b17 was banned in the United States. Coincidentally vitB17 is only found in apple seeds, apricot kernels, watermelon seeds, and flaxseed. So I’ve been eating them ever since…about 20yrs now.

    • I didn’t know that as I was always scared to eat the seeds. Especially of watermelon. My uncle started to grow one in his stomach after it took root….from eating the seed as a kid. So my mom always warned us about it. How do you eat it?

    • ​@Candy ☆🙏 ~Really?!?~When we were kids & saw a pregnant lady, our Dad told us she had swallowed watermelon seeds…ha ha…i never would have thought that could really happen?!~How did he stop it???~

    • @Kathy Ingram lol. Yea, I asked my mom when I got older because she always told us about it as kids. She said it took root, and started growing and he had to have surgery. I can’t fathom that happening.

  9. This doctor needs to be cloned and put into every medical school to re-educate doctors with correct information about health.
    He is brilliant, and a gem of a person to anyone with common sense about how to improve their health in a sustained way.

  10. There was a case of a woman out with friends who had a meal containing RAW FISH.
    She started feeling ill a short time later but the symptoms were vague and I think her concerns were dismissed as nothing to worry about.
    The group of friends decided to move on to a place where they could dance but this lady kept saying she felt like she was going to die so the friends agreed to go to A&E where the doctors sprang into emergency mode to save her life.
    This is because toxins in raw fish can kill quickly and the only warning is from the primordial part of the brain which causes the person to think they are going to die!

  11. I’ve eaten potatoes with green on parts of the potato them and never had a problem. I lost 150lbs on Healthy Keto by not eating white potatoes (I do eat sweet potatoes), white bread, white rice, & pasta. It took me 2 years to go from 321lbs to 170lbs. I have kept the weight off for another 3.5 years now.

  12. Dr. Berg; you are so 100% spot on; especially Cassava/Yuca!
    I had boiled yuca; could not eat it at the time.
    I placed them in a sealed container, inside of the refrigerator.
    The next day I re-boiled them, ate them; then had a terrible allergic reaction where my entire body was itching profusely!
    My skin was inflamed, and I broke out in hives externally and internally!
    Had to get a IV flush!
    Also lobster and crab not prepared correctly can kill you as well.
    I no longer eat no form of shellfish, red meat, nor pork since the Y2K(2000)!
