Let’s talk about the first sign of methylcobalamin deficiency.

Methylcobalamin is vitamin B12, and it’s essential for DNA, red blood cells, and your myelin sheath. Vitamin B12 also helps support your spinal column and brain.

If you’re deficient in vitamin B12, you could experience tingling, numbness, or burning sensations.

Other signs of vitamin B12 deficiency can include:
• Chronic pain
• Depression
• Muscle wasting
• Blurry vision
• Tinnitus
• Anemia
• Mouth ulcers
• Sore throat
• Hair loss

You could also experience symptoms if you have too much vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 toxicity will typically occur if you’re taking too much synthetic vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin)—not the natural version (methylcobalamin).

Cyanocobalamin can build up in the body and cause symptoms such as:
• Acne
• Palpitations
• Anxiety
• Red cheeks
• Headaches
• Insomnia
• Akathisia
• Suicidal thoughts

You could be deficient in vitamin B12 long before you start to feel any effects. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t damage being done. One of the first symptoms you would eventually feel is extreme fatigue.

Foods high in vitamin B12 are animal products. There is no vitamin B12 in plants.

Top causes of vitamin B12 deficiency:
• Malabsorption
• Plant-based or vegan diets
• Gastric bypass
• Atrophy of the stomach
• Gastritis
• H. pylori infection
• Ulcers
• Inflammation in the intestines
• Aspirin
• Alcohol
• Junk foods
• Antibiotics
• Antacids or PPIs
• Birth control pills
• Pregnancy
• Lactation
• Smoking
• Polymorphism

  1. Lots of b12 and Folate for us about to deal with the jelly donut addicted “friends” & loved ones who want us to fall off today. ⚠️ Stay healthy, yall!

  2. Good morning, Dr.Berg another great and educational video as usual. Thank you very much for sharing it 🙏🥰 🇨🇦

  3. Hey Dr. Berg! I am a bit confused as to how long it takes the body to go into autophagy from fasting. When researching studies online they usually say it takes 1-3 days for the body to enter autophagy. I know this has a lot do with how fast one’s metabolism is, but is there any evidence that 18 hours is enough to enter autophagy? Intuitively it sounds right, I’m just wondering why this hasn’t been studied on humans more considering autophagy and fasting are the number one most powerful healing tools. When I fast for 2 days I feel like super woman and I have so much energy, focus and my spiritual connection is super heightened. 18 hour fasts are great as well and I’m trying to do intermittent fasting daily now.
I love your videos, I’m trying to watch all of them because you make everything so simple and easy to understand. 😊👌
    Much love!

  4. Yes I have noticed also that many supplements jack up the amount of B12 as Berg says. They have insanely high percentages, for also B6 and vitamin C sometimes but especially B12. I can see how this would be too much and I feel like I have even felt bad and negative on vitamins and supplements with too much B12 or zinc!!

  5. *Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how much time and work he put into this video?* *It’s amazing, and I think they deserve so much more than that* ❤❤❤❤❤

  6. This is so timely 👏 I got to share this with a friend who is having this challenge at the moment. Thanks Doctor Berg for you are a life saver, a huge gift to humanity. ❤❤❤ God bless you sir for always being there for us 👍 🙏 appreciate

  7. Dr Berg please – we HIGHLY need a comprehensive video in which you cover MTHFR mutations and your advice how to fix the methylate cycle if you have it. This is such a common mutation affecting over 50% of population, that doesn’t even know. I have it too, like many others, would be SO great if you could please make a video on this and on how to fix it, and which vitamins/supplements to take and which to avoid. You never covered this I think as standalone topic, but would be so helpful. Thanks!

  8. I also feel more energy with B12. ❤ Happy Thanksgiving, Dr. Berg & community. I’m 10 pounds from my goal weight! I couldn’t have done it without you.❤

  9. On this Thanksgiving Day, let us remember to eat salads and cabbage and other leafy greens, before we start consuming all the othe feast foods we shouldnt eat.
Also, let give thanks that Dr Berg does what he does to educate the world, despite all the pressure and pushback from big food, big pharma, and big medicine. Subscribe to Dr Berg’s newsletter, no cost, just more information to get healthier.

    • As someone who is highly anemic, and has had the majority of my stomach removed — leaving not much room..

      That ain’t happening.

I am BBQing a tri-tip, and making cranberry chimichurri, to top it with.

    • @Christiana Nicole i never judge what what anyone eats. Though keto foods are much healthier, its still a personal choice. I do the turkey thing more out of tradition than anything, though I do want to start a prime rib roast tradition for Christmas.

  10. Have been researching the differences between cyano and hydroxo cobalamin. This is what is issued in the UK from GPs, more often than not, its the cyano 😬

  11. Thank you Dr Berg!! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏 I have every symptom you mentioned. And now I know why!
I cut back on the amount of red meat I was eating a few years ago, due to me being unemployed and the cost of meat becoming so expensive. I used to eat red meat around 2-3 times a week, now I’m lucky to have it 2-3 times a month!! I will now be buying and eating it a bit more often, as much as my budget can stretch for it.
Will that repair the damage I’ve done though? 🤔🤔😟😟

  12. @ Dr. Berg You are tops in explaining in simple easy terms that just about anyone can understand and put to immediate use. Thank You so very much for all the free knowledge you so generously pass on to those of us searching for better health by being in the know to what is being done right and eliminating what is unknowingly being done wrong.

As ever, always spot on, eye opening and connecting the dots needed and useful information to the missing bits not previously put together to get a better view of the overall health picture being searched for a very long time and getting closer and closer to “got it (” it” being sorely needed missing bits that tie what is known together for better overall health)” finally!

Again, a very sincere Thank You!
