Let’s talk about oxalates and the best ways to flush out oxalates to help prevent kidney stones.

Signs your oxalate levels are high:
• Kidney stones
• Gout
• Headaches
• Eye pain
• Urinary pain
• Genital pain
• Muscle pain
• Intestinal pain

Foods high in oxalates:
• Almonds
• Peanuts
• Spinach
• Chocolate
• Kiwi
• Strawberries
• Beets
• Tea
• Bran

Dietary oxalates aren’t correlated with oxalates in your urine. Just because you consume foods high in oxalates doesn’t mean you will develop any problems.

But, preexisting damage to your kidneys, liver, or metabolism can cause you to be unable to process oxalates like you should. Diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, and carb consumption can lead to kidney problems.

A lack of certain microbes can also prevent you from breaking down oxalates, causing them to end up in the kidneys.

Many people who go on the ketogenic diet no longer have a problem dealing with oxalates. But if you’re still experiencing issues, you can try these tips.

What to do if you have high oxalate levels or are prone to kidney stones:
1. Limit foods high in oxalates or consume them with cheese
2. Take a probiotic with a mixture of lactobacillus
3. Maintain higher levels of magnesium and citrates (by consuming magnesium and lemon)
4. Get plenty of vitamin D
5. Drink at least two and a half liters of fluid a day

  1. I got sadly before. It was smaller the a tip of a pen and it hurt crazy. I was in pain 1 week long. Then I watched the older video of Dr. Berg, I started to drink apple cider vinegar (one tablespoon in a cup of water). After two days, the stone came out without any pain.

Edit: Actually it was half a lemon + ACV! Sorry, I forgot!

    • I have a 6.6 MM stone sitting on my kidney. How do I get it out?? Stupid doctor refuses to blast it with a laser. Wth??

    • “What is shock wave lithotripsy?

Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL) is the most common treatment for kidney stones in the U.S. Shock waves from outside the body are targeted at a kidney stone causing the stone to fragment. The stones are broken into tiny pieces. lt is sometimes called ESWL: Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy®.

These are what the words mean:

      extracorporeal: from outside the body
      shock waves: pressure waves
lithotripsy (the Greek roots of this word are “litho” meaning stone, “tripsy” meaning crushed)
So, SWL describes a nonsurgical technique for treating stones in the kidney or ureter (the tube going from the kidney to the bladder) using high-energy shock waves. Stones are broken into “stone dust” or fragments that are small enough to pass in urine. lf large pieces remain, another treatment can be performed

      When can SWL be used?

SWL works better with some stones than others. Very large stones cannot be treated this way. The size and shape of stone, where it is lodged in your urinary tract, your health, and your kidneys’ health will be part of the decision to use it. Stones that are smaller than 2 cm in diameter are the best size for SWL. The treatment might not be effective in very large ones.”

  8. Thank you Dr. Eric sir the way you explain everything in detail is really good thank you for valuable for information

  9. You rock Dr. Berg.
You have single handedly helped me turn my health around.

I am deeply grateful for you. I consider you my permanent YouTube doctor

May God bless you immensely ❤

  10. Thank you for clarifying that food high in oxalates will not contribute to oxalate in the body. I’m from an Italian family, and I eat lots of spinach. Of course, it is the main component of my ravioli filling, but my filling has lots of Parmigiano cheese. We have to eat like our ancestors! Home-made food, when done in balance, doesn’t make you sick.

    • Read “Toxic Superfoods” by Sally Norton. High oxalate foods absolutely contribute to oxalates in the body

    • I disagree with berg here. I unknowingly was consuming a diet high in oxalates and protein and I had an acute gout flairup and kidney pain. After cutting oxalates and increasing citrates the gout went away. Oxalates absolutely can exacerbate kidney dysfunction.

  11. Dr. Berg good morning, I’ve been a subscriber of yours for several years! Does all this still apply for people like me that an ectopic left kidney? I’m 1 in 1000 that was born with my kidney like this and there isn’t much information out there regarding the pain in the butt these can be. Can you please see what you can find out about helping cleanse the kidney and body. I’ve gotten nothing but bad advice growing up, now I’m suffering. Thank you .

  12. After my urologist told me I am a kidney stone machine, I started drinking 6 oz. of lemon juice in 32 oz. water every day (vs. the recommended 4 oz., plus an expensive non-nutritive sweetener), plus taking steps to (hopefully) keep it from eating away my tooth enamel. After months of that, I researched and found that 1.44 grams of citric acid powder has equivalent citrate of one ounce of lemon juice. So I’ve switched to taking 9 one-gram soft gels per day with probably the equivalent amount of water (3 capsules, 3x daily).

  13. Thanks for this info. When I worked in the lab, I saw the Oxalate crystals in my urine. They were affecting my right leg. I found a web page on vulvadynia that listed the high Oxalate foods and started to reduce those. I also started taking calcium-magnesium citrate and that worked! But one other thing it said is that a mild infection makes immune cells that cause the crystals to clump together to form the stones. So adding a cranberry pill helps them flush from the kidney too. Also avoid calcium carbonate. It’s added to foods

  14. I have been prescribed potassium citrate for years after a number of emergency room visits when I was younger because of renal stones and, as Dr. Berg suggests, they were calcium oxalate. I have not had an issue in years. An interesting tip I learned is about Magnesium Glycinate. I started taking that, along with Vitamin D (to help absorption) because of a history of headaches. The Mg has done wonders to reduce my headaches and now I see there is an added benefit for stones. Supposedly the Mg glycinate is easier on the gut than other types of Mg for those with a sensitive gut. I always learn something here!

    • As far as I was told potassium citrate only works in Uric acid stones so I’m surprised you’ve been taking it for years for oxalate stones.

Has it helped dissolve anything for you?

  15. Dear Dr. Berg! Could you please analyse the topic considering the copper intoxication. I read that the water stored in copper dish is cleaner and better for organism. I bought a copper flask and started drinking water during the day stored in that flask. After 3 months I noticed a regular little tremor of my hands which I never had before. I thought that overtrain could be the reason, but then I googled and found out that copper intoxication can lead to Wilson’s disease. Tremor is the main symptom of this disease. I am interested in your opinion considering copper in human body. Thank you for the knowledge that share with us!

  16. Doctor, I want to thank you for some key information you gave that cured my gf’s psoriasis (related to the TUDCA bile salts you talked about). Her condition was getting severe and the modern medicine path she was going down was becoming ineffective and more toxic. We are both EXTREMELY grateful for what seems like a miraculous cure at this point, and I thank you for leading us down that path.

It chills me a bit to think that youtube may de-emphasize videos like yours, or censor them, or youtube itself may change character or disappear in the future. The wealth of useful and critical information on this site rivals the library of Alexandria, and undermining it could have the same effect. It’s that important.
