Let’s talk about rhodiola. Rhodiola is an adaptogen, which is a type of herb that helps you adapt to stress.

It’s been suggested that rhodiola has a really interesting effect of significantly reducing perceived effort after exercise.

Rhodiola has a lot of potential benefits and may help with certain issues, including:
• Stress
• Coughing
• Fatigue
• Depression
• Altitude sickness
• Tissue and organ damage from hypoxia

Rhodiola may even help support cognitive function as well as improve HRV and angina pain.

In one study, people who took rhodiola had more energy after exercise than those who had a placebo.

Sleep is a huge factor when it comes to recovery from stress and exercise. It just so happens that rhodiola may help support healthy sleep cycles. One study even suggested that your body may need less sleep to get rejuvenated when taking rhodiola.

Rhodiola may also help increase glycogen reserves (stored fuel) and ATP (energy).

I don’t believe rhodiola tricks the brain into perceiving less effort. I think it helps increase endurance by increasing efficiency in the body.

  1. I’ve been taking rhodiola, taurine and ginseng in the morning for energy for years, and confirm that it works very well (tested it isolated first). Rhodiola also stimulates serotonin production, thus helping have more of it later in the evening to be converted to melatonin.

  2. Thank you so much Dr. Berg…I need all the help that I can get during my workout. I’ve got to share this.❤🙏🏽❤

    Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

  4. Personally speaking, Rhodiola when used long-term can help with stress. It’s not super potent like anti-anxiety meds, but over time you’ll notice that you will have less stress and anxiety than usual.

    • If it was as potent as prescription drugs, it wouldn’t be a supplement. But it’s also a question of isolating the active compounds and their concentration. If extracted and concentrated, I’m sure it would be as potent but you’d also get side effects. No strong effects without side effects.

  5. Dr Berg as one of the leading experts in Naturopathic medicine in my country, i would love to congratulate you for the great work!!thank you for everything ,keep going on!!!

  6. Thank you!
If you could include the dosage the studies found effective Dr Berg that would give us an idea how much to take.
    But I found this:

Clinical doses are commonly 200 to 600 mg/day. For depression, doses of 340 to 680 mg/day of R. rosea extract (as SHR-5) have been evaluated for up to 12 weeks.

    • I can’t find any SHR-5 extracts on the market. Normal rhodiola extracts give info on percentage of rosavines and salidrosides, so it’s unclear ow much to take to get enough of SHR-5.

  7. The pre workout supplement I take used to have Rhodiola, and I remember that it gave me enough energy to exercise 3hrs straight… But they changed the formula in 22..they used other ingredients that also have the same effect

  8. I have rhodiola and use when im feeling a little off and blah. I was just concerned about relying on too many “supplements.” But now will start taking it daily! Thank you Dr Berg!! Im also sharing this video with several people.
    👍🏻🙂

  9. I 1st heard about Rhodiola over 7 years ago as something to help with feeling tired, anxious, and difficulty focusing during menopause. I was preparing my self for my future. I finally realized I found it difficult focusing at work and I was getting tired during the day. I remembered the Rhodiola. After the 2nd day, I realized I could just do my work without being distracted and I wasn’t tired in the afternoon. The new anxious feeling, due to the change of hormones, went away. I find, I don’t need to take it everyday. I can skip a week, now. It’s my version of coffee, but cheaper since it’s not a daily consumption.

    • Yes same but have not found a good brand that was as effective as what I used years ago. Please share what brand you use .

    • @@mrsmc2612 I 1st bought them from Victoria Health because the owner of the company and Trinny Woodall are who introduced me to it. I then found it at Whole Foods being sold by Gaia. Both were effective for me, but the 1st gave me an extra “zing”. It could have been that it was my first experience. I then friend the cheaper Whole Foods’ brand. That one worked, but even less of a zing. I seemed to need to take it more often. Now, I can’t find Gaia brand of this. The last 2 bottles are from Bronson for $10.00, and I got it from Amazon. It works for what I need. I think it may be on the same level of the Whole Foods brand. You get what you pay for. The strongest seemed to be Victoria Health, and they’re out of the UK, so it was more expensive (I’m in the US). Try different preparations. I like the liquid better, for its fast action, in my experience, but I’m using a powder version now.

  10. I am getting tested at Davis for sleep apnea stemming from neurological issues (seizures).
I often experience synchronicity in this way with your videos. As if handed a map!

  11. I take Rhodiola with my Tongkat Ali and Fedosia Agrestis…. made a bbig diffference in excercise recovery and general heal time on everything… excellent stuff! Thanks Dr Berg!

  12. My work schedule is always changing and when the coffee isn’t doing it or I’m in an emotional funk, I go for my bottle of rhodiola and it gives me a much needed boost, even with just one dose. It also effects serotonin if I’m not mistaken.

  13. Me and my family have been using Rhodiola for years. It works awesome. This is my go to Herb for stress and depression.

  14. Thank you Dr. Berg I’m so glad the energy used by the body opened by supplements gives opportunity to use less caffeine keep affirming alternative health solutions

  15. I’ve been waiting for you to talk about Rhodiola, the most popular type is Rosea, however I’ve heard that Rhodiola Crenulata and Rhodiola Sacra are far superior, just extremely rare to find and generally unknown. Rhodiola Rosea is extremely effective, but Crenulata and Sacra has been used for thousands of years by Nepalese mountain people, and people living around the Himalayas, and in China as well. I’ve read that the active ingredient contents in these varietals are much higher. It seems the only way to get some is to have a direct contact in these areas

  16. I think Rhodiolas stimulating effect on the cardiovascular system, its serotonin producing effects, oxygenation increase in the blood stream, would go perfectly as a pre workout for cardiovascular exercise regime thats meant to promote optimal blood flow to impove overall brain functions and the endocrine system too
