In this video, we’re going to take a look at a simple natural solution for cataracts. Cataracts can be described as cloudiness or opaqueness of the lens of the eye. They are the number one cause of blindness and are typically treated with surgery.

Too much oxidative stress can lead to cataracts. Oxidative stress occurs when there’s too much oxidation in the body and not enough antioxidants.

Too much oxidation in the eye mainly stems from sugar consumption. If you have too much sugar in your blood, four main tissues are affected: the nerves, kidneys, arteries, and eyes.

Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol that creates inflammation and glycation—and it tends to accumulate in the eye, creating cloudiness.

Sorbitol can affect the retina of the eye and the cells that compose the myelin in your nerves. It can also increase the pressure in your eye, contributing to conditions like glaucoma.

If you have cataracts, you need to change your diet and eliminate sugar. There is also another solution that may help.

L-carnosine is a powerful antioxidant that works within the mitochondria and has anti-glycation and anti-aging effects. It also acts as a pH buffer.

L-carnosine is an excellent option for the prevention and reversal of cataracts, but on its own, it can’t penetrate the eye. N-acetylcarnosine (NAC) is a compound that allows carnosine to penetrate the eye.

Research has shown promising effects of using a one percent solution of NAC for conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

Try using one to two drops of N-acetylcarnosine in each eye two to three times per day. Also, try taking NAC with zinc. Zinc is a powerful antioxidant and is important for NAC to be properly utilized in the body.

  1. I hear this is extremely neuroprotective in cases of (ASD) Autism spectrum disorders, renoprotective properties for kidney disease, and more! This is the stuff! 🎉 Thanks, Sir!

  2. Dr Berg, I’ve used these eye drops before. They are also on Amazon too. AOR – Ortho Eyes 2x5ml Drops – NAC N-Acetyl-Carnosine Eye Drops

  3. I started a ketogenic diet in 2016. Despite this, and remove sugar from my diet, I developed in a 4 months cataract in 2021. I operated cataracts in 2023.

  4. Thanks, Dr. Berg, Merry Christmas! At my annual eye doctor visit last month, my doctor told me I had the beginning of a cataract in my right eye! Thank you for this video. I will be going to work on it shortly!

    • Another study says this study is no good: “We were unable to obtain sufficient information to reliably determine how both these studies were designed and conducted. We have contacted the author of these studies, but have not yet received a reply. Therefore, these studies are assigned as ‘awaiting classification’ until sufficient information can be obtained from the authors.” doi: 10.1002/14651858.CD009493.pub2

  5. I’m having cataract surgery on my right eye Wednesday and my left eye in two weeks. After that I go in for glaucoma. This all terrifies me but I can barely make out shapes in one eye, I’m praying all goes smoothly. Happy Holidays.

    • May the Great Physician guide the hands of all involved in your surgery , and bless you with much improved eyesight!

    • I went through the surgery one year ago and it was amazingly simple and easy with no issues. My eyes felt dry for a couple days and I was tired from the drugs when i first got home. Thats it, no pain no problems. I actually drove home after surgery, although this is not recommended. I now no longer require prescription glasses for day to day stuff and im very happy with the results. I need readers to read books close up or food ingredients and things like that. Cost me 4k dollars for fancy lenses.

  6. Truly truly this channel of yours is LIFE CHANGING. You’re helping my family and I regain control of our health. Thank you Doc

  7. I had cataract surgery and ended up with negative dysphotopsia (sp) and I hate it. And the only cure for that (maybe) is yet another surgery that could go wrong and vision is even worse. Anyone getting cataract surgery had better ask their doctor about this and make sure to get a lens that has the least chance of this outcome.

  8. Many thanks, Dr. Berg, especially for the references in the description. I read them most of them and found one, Babizhayev at al.’s (2012) paper, really interesting.
The authors studied a small sample, admittedly, but the results look great, esp. after 24 months. A small excerpt from the abstract here for anyone who’s interested:
“After 6 months, 90% of NAC-treated eyes showed improvement in best corrected visual acuity (7 to 100%) and 88.9% showed a 27 to 100% improvement in glare sensitivity.”

  9. Thank you Dr Berg. Just this week I had my annual bloodwork & full eye exam and started experiencing a cyst in one of my eyes. Dr said it is a Meibomian cysts that is harmless and occurs when the body is fighting a virus. Just started experiencing it this fall. I do not have high sugar diet; A1C tested at level 5. Vision seems to be changing & I want to stay ahead of it. Will look for any videos about this type of eye issue.

  10. I’ve been using Oclumed Eyedrop (it has 2% NAC) for about 3-4 months now and I can see it shrinks the yellow tissues on the white part of the eye that were getting closer to my pupil and my vision is getting clearer too. I stopped using regular eyedrops many years ago. I’ve been also eating ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting most of the time ~90% and 10% home baked goods (banned fast food and supermarket premade food and no longer crave) and I don’t have any health issues.

  11. Dr. Berg, can you please address the difference between N-Acetyl Carnosine and N-Acetyl Cysteine? You are using the abbreviation “NAC” for two different ingredients, so it’s confusing.

  12. Thank you so much; Dr. Berg for this invaluable/educating information for cataracts!
You are indeed a health & wellness humanitarian/Doctor!
    Merry Healthy Christmas to you;
Dr. Berg and your family! Salute!

  13. Merry Christmas Dr. Berg to you and family. We love you for all that you do to help us be healthier. God bless you.
