In this video, we’re going to look at some of the causes of dry skin and wrinkles, as well as the best natural remedies. Anything you put on the skin gets directly absorbed into your body.

Many chemicals are lurking in your skincare products and makeup. Along with the things we apply directly to our skin, pollution, smoking, diet, and UV radiation all affect the health and look of our skin.

Because your skin is mainly composed of protein and fat, a low-fat diet is one of the worst things for your skin. Seed oils, synthetic starches, and synthetic sugars also have detrimental effects on your skin health.

Seed oils like corn oil, cottonseed oil, canola oil, soy oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil are very high in omega-6 fatty acids. These highly processed oils are deodorized and decolorized and are made using solvents like hexane. They can get lodged into your membranes and can stay there for two and a half to three years.

When you consume too many omega-6 fatty acids (seed oils) and not enough omega-3 fatty acids, you develop dry, red, flaky skin. Your skin may also start to look older.

Grass-fed beef tallow is very similar to your skin’s natural sebum and will not oxidize the skin or cause inflammation. Tallow contains vitamins A, D, E, and K and the compound CLA, which helps the skin retain moisture.

Tallow softens the skin and leaves it with a healthy glow. The nutrients in tallow can also help eliminate dark spots and wrinkles.

Tallow is fifty percent saturated fat and contains oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and linoleic acid—all of which have positive benefits for your skin.

For better skin, remove seed oils from the diet, apply tallow to the skin, and consume more omega-3 fatty acids. You should notice improvement in your skin in a matter of weeks.

  1. I was at the Dr complaining about my rosacia and he actually suggested Vaseline petroleum jelly. I couldn’t believe it. Thank you for all the info you provide and your time creating these videos.

  2. I mainly use coconut, olive for cooking & shea butter and castor oil for skin ( and sometimes grape seed or almond ). Still working on healing my gut. Thank you for sharing this information, going to add Tallow to my regimen now.

  3. Good morning Dr Berg, I had dry skin and all kind of other issues, I got on healthy Keto IF OMAD and 120 hours fast every month plus your supplements that just solved it all. I still have guilty pleasure coffee in a morning and Bourbon in a evening. Change your life style , you won’t need any cream or lotions etc. Just watch Dr Berg’s Videos and educate yourself. Thank you Sir

    • Can you share what exactly you ate and what supplements you took. I. feel hungry and couldn’t keep up to keto

  4. Let me check out Tallow Balm. I have great skin and I plan to keep it like that. I alternate between Shea Butter and any good moisturizer that is on sale. Thank you Dr. Berg. 👍🏽💙

  5. This is wonderful information, Dr Berg. My skin has improved significantly after I stopped eating processed/junk food/sugars and switching to a healthy diet. I’d love to know your expert thoughts on argan, castor oils and shea butter for skin. Thank you for your continuous educational content 🙏🏻

  6. Wonderful information and you’re right, Dr Berg. My skin has improved considerably when I switched to a healthy diet and started taking supplements, cod liver oil and omega 3 are amazing. Thank you so much 🙏🏻 💕

  7. Thank you. I use raw, organic Sesame Oil. Women in SE Asia (Thailand) used this to soften and moisturize their skin. To begin the enzyme reactions in Sesame oil, it must be slightly heated (such as placing bottle into hot water for several mins). I do not know about which Omega oil it is predominantly…. I’ll have to research this. Although, the results are good.
I imagine it is as good as tallow, although I am looking forward to trying your suggestion.
My guess, since you are correct about so many health issues, that BOTH these are very beneficial for our skin health. Thank Dr. Berg for your research and insights. We appreciate you.

  8. I’m going to try this, and for the bonus, hopefully my dog will love me even more. Lol. Thank you Dr Berg.

  9. Thank you Dr Berg for another wonderful video. May God blessed you and your family! Let’s get healthy together!!

    • How did you whip it if you don’t mind me asking? And how does that affect the application on your skin? 😊 Cheers!

    • I purchased 100% grassfed tallow from Amazon but could definitely reach out to a local source. I melted the tallow then added castor oil and olive oil. 4 parts tallow to one part carrier oil. I will be playing with this formula in the future. Then you let it solidify. You can put it in the fridge to speed it up. Then just whip it with a beater or stand mixer. At that point you can add essential oils to help with the smell but if you don’t the beef smell dissipates pretty quickly after application. It sinks into to skin beautifully.

    • The whipping seems to be less “greasy” as far as application. You can use the pre whipped form for an oil cleanser or double cleanser!

  10. Dr Berg I was just experimenting with less toxic moisturizers.
I’ve used tallow in the past, it was alright but dried out after a work shift. I’ve also used Vaseline and then Aquaphor. But I wanted to go less toxic so I’ve been trying pure glycerin right after my shower and it’s magical 😊
Super soft skin all day up until the next!
Would like to hear your thoughts on glycerin.

  11. I already do a lot of these things, and have been using tallow soap for a couple of years, and I think my face is holding up pretty well at 60! Wish I knew how much was genetic good luck and how much is the result of my intentional actions, but I’ll take it either way! 😊

  12. One of the best fats for moisturisation is omega 7. Sea buckthorn oil contains the highest amount of omega 7 along with 3,6,9 in an almost 1:1 ratio. It works great for dryness in general; dry skin, dry eye, mouth etc… Omega 7 is very effective against candida and protects the mucous membranes. Sea buckthorn is also great for immune health, as it is a nutrient powerhouse; containing high levels of vitamin c, e and beta carotene, along with many minerals. You can apply it to the skin, but it can be quite staining, as the berry oil is bright orange. But it’s best to take internally, in capsule form, for everyday health.

    • Never heard of Sea Buckthorn Oil. After going through two rounds of Chemo, I’m 44, I developed some series Candida issues. Is there a particular brand you recommend ? I will try it.

  13. For anyone curious:
CLA= Conjugated Linoleic Acid. Entirely different from the linoleic acid in seed oils, and not harmful at all

  14. I’ve used coconut oil for about 10 years on my entire body and hair and to cook with. I never use soap. I’ve been doing Keto for three years. I’ve cut out sugar and all processed food, doing Keto and eating more grass feed beef butter eggs and avocados. Point is I just turned 61. People think I’m in my late forties. Truly you are what you eat. Thank you Dr Berg! I love your videos. I’m ordering tallow today!

  15. One more thing dr burg, here in the Middle East we use the pure olive oil for our facial skin, hands and feet, we r using that for ages, I used to c my mom, grandma using them constantly, and it always gave them bright soothing skins.

  16. You never fail to amaze/surprise us Dr. Berg! I never heard of this before! Going to give it a try! 👍🏻👍🏻
