  1. Black coffee is supposed to help with fatty liver disease so it makes sense as having a fatty liver leads to insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes if not reversed. I switched to black coffee only thing I add is my dose of d-ribose which is incremental, but helps with my fibro pain levels.

  2. “reduction in weight gain” meaning the nonsugary coffee drinkers gained less than people who drank the sugary ones.

  5. For me, this has been true. I’m in my mid 30s (female) and used to drink sugary coffee drinks. Years ago, I switched to black coffee and I lost weight. I eat the same and don’t diet. I do think some of it is water weight loss, though. I always get asked what I did to lose weight (about 15 pounds difference) and I said the only thing I can think of is black coffee!

  7. Dr. Oneill said coffee leaches calcium and weakens the bones. Which bears the question. What if the bones lose density and maked you lose weight

  8. @Drberg Coffee, particularly caffeine is also structured similarly to allopurinol, so 2-3 cups of black coffee per day (seems to be the sweet spot from my reading and also trying it out) is great for reducing and managing serum uric acid to therapeutic levels. So coffee (but also obviously plain green tea (and other teas) are good for helping manage gout.

  9. Yes. Mere observation of coffee intake during the December of ‘23 has made me achieve my weight gain goals. But in January, I began to question how the coffee would ever do such a thing!?
