In this video, we’re going to look at the root causes of inflammation and the best natural remedies for inflammation.

Here are 10 common causes of inflammation.

1. Gluten consumption and food allergies
Gluten can lead to a leaky gut, a condition where food particles leak through the small intestine. Leaky gut is one of the most common causes of inflammation. Pinpointing a food allergy can also help clear up gut inflammation.

2. Ultra-processed food ingredients
Ultra-processed foods like synthetic sugars, modified food starches, and seed oils go through several industrial processes to the point that they no longer resemble their original form. These foods cause free-radical damage and inflammation in the body.

3. Viruses
Viruses can go in and out of remission, causing inflammatory conditions that come and go. This is often triggered by stress which increases your cortisol levels, suppressing your immune system. Viruses can also block vitamin D.

4. Insulin resistance
Frequent eating and carb consumption leads to insulin resistance. Most of the population is insulin-resistant.

5. Lack of cortisol
Chronic stress over a long period and medications like Prednisone can lead to cortisol resistance.

6. Old injuries
Lack of movement and a sedentary lifestyle can lead to inflammation.

7. Sludge in bile ducts
Without adequate bile salts, bile sludge can back up into the liver causing right shoulder pain and rhomboid pain. This can be corrected by a healthy diet.

8. Too much iron
This is typically caused by a genetic issue and is more common in men.

9. Hypoxia
Conditions like COPD, cirrhosis of the liver, clogged arteries, and sleep apnea can cause hypoxia—a lack of oxygen.

10. Uric acid
Uric acid is one of the most common causes of high blood pressure and comes from high fructose consumption.

Here are the best remedies for inflammation:
•Kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, or a probiotic
•Vitamin D3
•Intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting
•Cruciferous vegetables and salads
•Keto diet
•Carnivore diet
•TUDCA
•Tocotrienols
•Cold therapy
•Stretching and exercise
•Omega-3 fatty acids (cod liver oil, sardines, salmon)

  8. Thank you Dr Berg.
Could you please talk in the next video about Inflammation and ankylosing spondylitis disease and best ways to treat it.

  9. My father was a celiac, and I am as well ~ gluten is terrible for us ~thank you for your knowledge and information, you are always spot on, and I continually learn from you . Wishing you a great day, all the best !

  10. I wish he’d do a video on how a person should consume their daily ration of supplements without confliction with their meds, while fasting, eating keto yet there’s often 10-15 supplements to take and several shouldn’t be taken together. A person could spend their entire day around a timer.

    • @@justine3769 To fill the gaps in my diet. I have hashimotos, & currently my metabolism is just off, so I’ve personally been fasting from 5 or 6pm to noon the following day. I’m only able to consume two meals during that 5-6hr period, & my stomach doesn’t hold much per meal so like two eggs and half a bell pepper I’m full! I do my best to keep it keto as possible, depending where I’m at, but I also have to avoid gluten, raw sugar & dairy. I can’t get sun, where is it? So I take vitamin D which requires vitamin K2 to get the calcium to go into the bones. I take vitamin C to bump what I lack from being able to shove enough fruit daily to get what I need, Zinc to avoid the cooties, Magnesium because our bodies are naturally depleted due to the soil being depleted in which our veggies are grown (& it helps me sleep solid), Potassium to balance the swelling I get in my lower legs (a bonus from the thyroid) Biotin for my hair loss (another bonus of thyroid) Ashwaganda & Selenium which help bump my energy up…cuz thyroid, & Turmeric for my arthritis and aching back. How many is that? Oh yeah, and a multi enzyme probiotic for my gut. I think that’s 11 total. 😣 And even with walking & using stair climber I can’t get the weight to budge! Granted, I only need to lose maybe 40 or 50 pounds to get my weight under control but dang.

  11. A couple days ago I was at Whole Foods Market, picking up some raw Gruyere cheese, which is next to the bakery section. They put out a loaf of rosemary sourdough bread, which is what I used to buy when I went to Whole Foods in the past. That was my favorite bread but I had no problem just passing by it. I knew it would ruin my healthy keto plan right now. I think stress triggers inflammation, especially for injuries, old and new. What’s still difficult for me is sleep, because of a recent injury and I hear everything at night. Dogs, train horns, cars, helicopters, any little noise. I decided to cut back the daytime noises (podcasts, etc.) to kind of calm my brain a little and maybe the nighttime noise won’t be so loud.

    • I’ve had a similar situation. But recently I took Dr. Berg suggestion about drinking a half a cup of plain organic Kiefer before bed. I also take one vitamin D, and one magnesium at the same time. I tell you I sleep like a baby and feel great when I wake up! I also use a sleeping mask even with our blackout drapes. And earplugs if I need them. Just wanted to share because this is really changed my life in terms of sleep and feeling refreshed in the morning. Good luck!

    • @@lisaa9361that’s interesting combining the vitamin D and magnesium. I took vitamin D before bed once and was absolutely wired, couldn’t sleep at all.

  12. I had 1 cheat day and ate too much of the stuff you shouldnt….i’ve not recovered over a week later. more cravings and less will power. trying to get back to my good place now.

  13. My goal in life since discovering Dr Berg 2 yrs ago is to reduce/eliminate inflammation. Not knowing my levels I had genetic testing. Thinking I was progressing nicely, the results came out “urgent” w/certain 🧬 where I show certain pre-cursers leading me toward further inflammation & other issues I do not want. 👁️-opener for sure.

On a separate note regarding exercise & intensity: I am a daily exerciser. Not hours & hours but long walks/running/yoga. I have cut back on running since Jan & my blood sugars have gone from 70-80 range to >100 when I test in am. I’m unhappy about that & will incorporate running hills again to see the difference. I eat very well yet we are wine club members…I know, I know!

Another great video by Dr Berg!

  14. I’ve cut out inflammatory foods and my back pain has almost disappeared. It’s literally life changing what it will do.
