0:00 Introduction: Are peanuts healthy?
0:51 Conventional peanuts
1:29 Peanuts and glyphosate
2:01 Hydrogenated oils vs. partially hydrogenated oils
2:50 Monoglycerides
3:12 What is the healthiest peanut butter?

In this video, I’m going to tell you about the healthiest peanut butter. Peanuts don't typically cause health issues, but they can cause bloating for some people, and it's still important to consume the right peanuts.

Peanuts are not nuts—they are legumes that grow in the soil. Conventional peanuts are heavily sprayed with pesticides and fungicides, which seep into the soil and penetrate their thin shells. This is why you should always choose organic peanuts and peanut butter.

Glyphosate is also commonly found in peanuts. Glyphosate can act as an antibiotic and is found in many GMO foods.

Always read the label on your peanut butter and ensure it doesn't contain hydrogenated oils. Hydrogenated vegetable oils don’t actually come from vegetables at all—they’re seed oils! Also, avoid peanut butter with added sugar.

Monoglycerides are sometimes added to peanut butter. A French study linked this ingredient to cancer and found that it can increase the risk of certain cancers by 46%.

Look for peanut butter that only contains peanuts and salt. Organic Valencia peanut butter that contains only Valencia peanuts and sea salt is the best option. Valencia peanuts contain the least amount of aflatoxins. Aflatoxins come from mold and can be very damaging to the liver.

Try to have your peanuts with a meal rather than as a snack to avoid spiking insulin.

    Thank you Dr Berg!👍

  2. I was introducing peanut butter into my keto diet. Within a week insulin resistance symptoms back, and gained some abdomen fat. Right on time, great video 🎉

  3. Costco sells organic peanut butter under the Kirkland label with only two ingredients – peanuts and salt.

  4. I make own. Roast the peanuts until golden brown then into my Vitamix and 30 seconds later delicious peanut butter. I occasionally add organic Italian olive oil to make it more spreadable

  5. Had 6-8 tablespoons of peanut butter last night…ran to the fridge as Dr Berg is still talking and yesss organic Valencia with sea salt (nothing more phew!!)
    Carry on 😊😅

    • What brand did you buy? I keep hearing “Valencia” peanuts, but unsure unless I go through the shelves and shelves of peanut butter.

  6. I eat Smuckers Natural. Two ingredients: peanuts, salt.
Not organic, but closeest I can get. I mix it with Kerrygold organic butter to make real “peanut-butter” and eat it on celery – occasionally maybe once a week.

    • Same here – It’s a workout just mixing it up. I add a little Stevia to sweeten it up and absorb some of the oil.

    • I have an unopened bottle of Jif. It’s made by Smuker corporation. News to me. It’s not good on the ingredients. I haven’t eaten PB in over two years because of my new lifestyle but I do keep it just in case of emergency. The stuff last forever. 😂😂😂😂

    • I buy Once Again Natural Creamy Peanut Butter in 9lb Buckets on Amazon, they got 5lb buckets too. some people complain about it, but Ive never had a problem with it, you do have to stir it when you get it.

  7. For most my life, Peanuts and peanut butter are about 50% of my daily calories intake , zero problems

  8. I take my blender with one beater & carefully blend oil right in the jar. Hold the jar tight, lol. I then keep my peanut butter in the fridge, perfect consistency 😊

  9. Former President Jimmy Carter had a peanut farm in Georgia & consumed peanuts every day. He is still living at 99 years old.

  10. My favorite snack WAS rice cakes with peanut butter (organic non-GMO). I adored it! No rice cakes, no peanut butter. I still eat the peanut butter occasionally though.

  11. I make my own peanut butter. I buy a 16 oz. canister of unsalted peanuts, and blend them up with 1/3 tsp salt in my Nutri-Bullet blender. I add 1-2 tablespoons of milled flax seed, and sometimes a tablespoon of chia seeds to the blend. I like being able to control what’s in my peanut butter, as well as its texture (a bit gritty).

    • I’m surprised your mix (with flaxseed and chia – and no oil) isn’t so dry that it’s inedible.

  12. Almond Milk Smoothie
I do 1 tablespoon of almond butter in a almond milk smoothie with 2 teaspoons of dutch chocolate powder and monk fruit sugar.

  13. Hi and thank you for this information. A while ago, I gave up peanuts and peanut butter. However, I always learn a lot from you. Love your videos.
