In this video, we’re going to talk about vitamin D toxicity. If you take high doses of vitamin D3, you may experience some symptoms. It is more likely that you’re experiencing symptoms of a vitamin K2 or magnesium deficiency rather than vitamin D toxicity symptoms.

Magnesium deficiency is incredibly common. If you’re not taking enough magnesium while you’re taking vitamin D, you may begin to notice the following “vitamin D toxicity symptoms”:
• Irritability
• Insomnia
• Constipation
• Fatigue
• Muscle spasms/cramps
• Calcium buildup
• Arrhythmia

Coincidentally, these are also symptoms of low magnesium and low vitamin K2.

There are case studies involving vitamin D toxicity; however, the subjects did not take vitamin K2 or magnesium. In many cases, they were taking vitamin D2 rather than vitamin D3.

You don’t want to take calcium when testing for vitamin D toxicity because one of the symptoms of vitamin D toxicity is hypercalcemia or too much calcium in the blood.

According to Wikipedia, some symptoms of vitamin D toxicity are due to vitamin K depletion. Vitamin K2 is essential to prevent calcium buildup in the soft tissues. Vitamin D helps increase calcium absorption in the small intestine by 20 times.

Therapeutic doses of vitamin D can be beneficial for many health conditions. The Mayo Clinic only recommends 600 IU of vitamin D when 30 to 40 minutes of sunlight provides about 20,000 IU of vitamin D3.

Therapeutic doses of vitamin D can be especially beneficial for autoimmune conditions. Dr. Coimbra from Brazil utilizes a vitamin D protocol involving up to 200,000 IU.

If you’re taking vitamin D supplements, also take magnesium and vitamin K2. You also want to ensure adequate boron, zinc, and vitamin A intake.

  1. I take 20000 iu D3 every day. It was causing me heart palpitations. It was weird. I began taking K2 and the palpitations went away. I agree 100%!!

    • 20k iu a day is too much. They do it temporarily in severe deficiency cases (or to treat certain diseases (still experimental)). I read 10k a day max. I also read that the body absorbs more if it’s high weekly dose; i.e. 50k iu, which I’ve been doing.

    • @@Saturn57Are you doing 50,000 IU’s prescribed by your Dr.? If so it’s probably D2 which is poorly absorbed & will not work well to raise your levels.

  2. I remember when high doses of both vitamins A and D were believed to be toxic, and since then the opinion has changed regarding D3.

    • Vitamin A is the same… perhaps if you take super high doses, like eating polar bear liver or whatever, you might suffer from toxicity. But most people are deficient, some more than others, and some people seem to have high need for Vitamin A. In my teens, I got rid of those whitehead lumps on my arms (“keratosis pilaris”) by taking Vitamin A supplements – not particularly high dose, but then they got paranoid and you could only get beta carotene (which is not quite the same, re potency).

    • Sharing an interesting anecdote… I am 76 y/o and was taking 10K IU’s of D3 to avoid the Covid jab. My PCP tried to scare me into getting vaxxed by saying that I was at risk of developing a pseudotumor cerebri from taking that high D3 dose. I researched and proved him wrong and the only vitamin connected to that was excess vitamin A. That particular case study involved a woman who took 50K IU’s of A a day for several years for cosmetic reasons. When she stopped taking the A, the pseudotumor cerebri resolved itself. 😂

    • I don’t think ‘the’ opinion on D3 has changed yet. My doctor, and I assume most doctors in USA, will start screaming at you when your D3 levels get to 70+. That being said, I would be interested in trying high D3 therapy if I could find a doctor that was onboard and would monitor me.

  3. Many years ago, after reading an article about how dangerous it was to take too much vitamin D, I stopped taking the multivitamins I was on because they contained the full RDA at that time which was 200 IU (5 micrograms) and I was also getting some from my diet. I ended up with a severe vitamin D deficiency! I only found out because my doctor took some blood tests (which isn’t necessarily a standard practice) otherwise I probably wouldn’t have known. After a few months on 800 IU, my levels were normal. After that experience I learnt to question studies, reports and news articles a bit more.

    • you do realize that not everyone absorbs the same amount and supplements are not a regulated industry.

    • Great summary! 👌🏼 These are great to reference AFTER WATCHING the video. Dr. Berg has gone to great lengths to put these on for us. WATCHING the video shows our appreciation for this work. Thanks again for the summary 😁👍🏼

  5. I was taking 10,000mg a day and bought some for my 70 year old mother and we both had vivid dreams as though u didn’t sleep and could remember everything, my mother said she hadn’t really dreamed in years

  6. Yes!! Love my K2D3 for over a decade. My bones and teeth are very happy now. No kidney stones that my doc said would happen. Only reversed osteoporosis and dropped CAC score to zero along with carnivore diet. Great video Dr Berg.

  7. I’ve been watching your videos since 13 im 16 now im from new Zealand your videos have been helpful my parent’s dont buy ultra processed food I’ve been showing my parents and my grandparents your videos thank you dr berg.

  8. Are you listening to my phone conversations? Literally talked about this yesterday. Thank you so much for clarity!

  9. I was standing on my graveyard soon after second jab d3 pulled me back from graveyard and am ok and getting better thank you doctor for saving my life 🙏🇦🇺🙏

  10. Boron is also an underrated co-factor. It helps to supercharge Vitamin D by increasing its half-life and raising blood serum levels.

    • How are you personally making sure you get enough boron? Only recently heard about it from this channel.

    • Yes Boron is a as ignored as K2. I use borax and mix up a solution with distilled water and just use a quarter teaspoon of it daily.

    • @@vbetta8979 I personally take a boron supplement. I started taking it a few years back for foot pain that lasted over a year. It resolved it but when I tried cutting it back out it started returning. So I just keep taking it. It’s a cheap supplement and doesn’t cause me any side effects so might as well.

    • On top of that, boron apparently also increases retention of magnesium, another vital vitamin D cofactor.

  11. Funny how they scare people while never providing a real healthy alternative solution instead. No wonder they’re “sweeping under the rug” content like this. Thanks for your continuous support, Dr Berg ❤

    • THE SUN is a healthy alternative! If you live in a cave, well then not so easy a solution?

    • @@lesliehenderson7866 “living in a cave” is what it feels like living in Britain as we don’t get so much sunshine all year round and everybody knows how sunlight is beneficial and necessary. People here love going out everytime we get beautiful weather 🌞

    • @@mwilliams369 so true and I agree. Like right now, the sun is finally out after dark rainy days 🌞

  12. I believe that putting Vitamin D into milk without K2 is on purpose, just like telling us that margarine is healthy and butter will kill you. How many people have had health problems, and even death from this. We have to learn to be our own doctors, and your videos help us to do that.

  13. After being treated for kidney stones I stopped using bit D,as was told it helps forming the stones. I started feeling so low of energy, light headed, weakness in muscles. Thank Gog for finding Dr Berg!

  14. I was wondering what my vitamin D level after taking 6000 IU of D3 daily this winter. I was somewhat shocked by the reluctance of my doctor to add this measurement to my blood tests at my annual physical. He further said vitamin D3 had little to do with the function of the immune system. But, I was forewarned by people posting comments regarding requests for vitamin D3 tests that my doctor’s response was common if not general. I persisted and said I would pay for the test out of my own pocket if necessary. He relented and the test result came in at 101.6. I was told my vitamin D was a little high. I am quite comfortable with that level.

  15. Thank you for referring to the Coimbra Protocol. My daughter who has MS and Crohn’s, has been in this protocol and appropriate co factors, for 3 years and in remission, parathyroid down, etc. But you must be followed by a Coimbra trained doctor. Not many in the US but we found one here in Seattle. Many people with autoimmune diseases have vitamin D receptor resistance, this needing the super high IU’s like my daughter who is on 100k a day. We are so thankful for the Coimbra Protocol!

  16. This doctor needs to be cloned and put into every medical school to re-educate doctors with correct information about health.
He is brilliant, and a gem of a person to anyone with common sense about how to improve their health in a sustained way.
I just love learning from his simple to understand videos. I respect this man immensely. 👏👏👏
