When your diet is filled with processed foods and lacking essential nutrients, it can lead to constipation.
The most common type of constipation is primary constipation, in which constipation is the primary issue rather than being caused by a tumor or obstruction. The first line of treatment for constipation like this is often a petroleum-based medication called polyethylene glycol, but it can cause other problems.
Microbes are vital in breaking down fiber and supporting healthy digestion. When our diet lacks these beneficial microbes, it can lead to problems such as bloating, cramping, and constipation.
The first step is to practice intermittent fasting by eating only two meals daily with no snacks. This gives the digestive system a chance to rest and catch up.
The second step is fixing your diet by simplifying meals and avoiding processed and refined foods. This also includes incorporating grass-fed meat, fermented foods, including sauerkraut, to provide beneficial microbes for a healthy gut. Following a Healthy Keto® diet is also beneficial.
The third step is supplementing with betaine hydrochloride to increase stomach acid and improve digestion. This can also help alleviate constipation by lubricating the colon with bile.
In addition to these steps, consuming plants raised on healthy soils can provide essential nutrients and beneficial microbes for a healthy gut. Magnesium and vitamin B1 can help promote regular bowel movements. Castor oil and senna are also good natural remedies for constipation.

They say, “Lean back and lift up your feet helps. It truly does 😊
The squatting potty!!!!
Not doing a 12M celebration video shows how humble this person is… Go, Dr. Berg! Edit: I’d be surprised if he didn’t do it in the near future. He might have just didn’t have the time.
Really appreciate the support, thanks for watching!
@@Drberg It is kind of apparent that you will be a man left to be known in history. You should lay to rest that you’ve reached that title now, haha. I just don’t have words to say because of how proud I am to see what a human being can become. You are marvelous, Dr. Berg. Wish the best for you and your whole team!
One spoon of Olive oil in the morning. Prevent constipation
Thanks for sharing!
@@Drberg does this help?
This is what I do. Drink olive oil mixed with water every morning before going to the toilet. Never had constipation again.
Mark Hyman, MD in one of his books recommends starting the day with a mix of olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon.
Castor oil at night. Olive oil in morning
A large glass of water followed by a large cup of black coffee also helps.
Thanks for sharing your tip.
Nope not helping at all
I find that drinking coffee helps me
If only!
@@isabellelam9606The caffeine (in the coffee along with possibly something coffee bean specific) stimulates your bowels – which is why a huge % of people can go do number 2 after drinking it. You’ll want to examine other areas of your diet/exercise/sleep components if it doesn’t.
I drink a cup of coffee and 15 minutes later, Shazam!
My 80-year-old mum drinks a glass of very warm water, and it works, too, for her.
Pics or didn’t happen lol
Lucky dog!!!
Attaboy! 😂
Half a shot of apple cider vinegar works well too
My mother developed a blockage near the end of her life. It was caused by excessive use of Excederine (aspirin, tylenol, caffeine) which caused a foot long ulcer in her colon. It took 8 days of hospitalization to clear it and months to heal the ulcer.
May your Mom RIP. Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. Your comment will save many.
@joyinthemorning44
Firstly, I love the name you use!
I am so sorry to hear what happened to your mother.
My mother was admitted to hospital, but the drugs the Doctors prescribed and administered caused an intestinal blockage (literature advised Medics NOT to use the drugs on a patient over a certain age, presenting with certain conditions and symptoms – results would be blockage, stroke and death ….. exactly what happened).
We have to be so careful of drugs, including prescription drugs.
❤sorry , she will be in the resurrection. Remember Jesus words that death is like sleeping and all those in the memorial tomb with hear his voice. Then wake up❤
Can you make a video about how we can make absolutely sure that our colons are completely cleaned out and no dried feces are remaining on the colon wall? Please?
Enema, but not something you require daily, just let your body sort it out.

I had a colonoscopy and the pictures came back as you just described.
Fermented green plums is the answer.
Things will come out of your body…it’s disgusting😅 Those stones…
2-3 days max is enough.
bodies are specific. i was battling constipation all my life, severe constipation last 4 years (bowel movement 1 a week or less).. started eating more meat (not keto), low-carbohydrate diet, gluten free, soy free, dairy free (replacing all wheat, soy, oats, corn with legumes and nuts). Only quinoa once a week. If i eat pasta I eat lentil or bean pasta only. I eat low carbohydrate/keto bread. for me the difference is soluble and insoluble fiber.. beans made me poop finally.. i eat lots of veggies (cooked mostly, little amounts of salad – but that is all insoluble fiber). i take magnesium citrate one every 2 days. also drink 2 liters of water. and somehow it started to work. i was bloated at first from beans..but much much less when i do not eat other carbs with them like i used too. so beans, cooked veggies and meat. and nuts. my texture and frequency changed to normal. i still see difference within my menstrual cycle as i suspect that my digestion fluctuates with my hormones..and since i am pre-menopause and hashimoto my hormones are a mess… working on it… at least i am pooping regularly which helps with estrogen excess.. (i have fibroids too)…ah it never ends.. but beans and legumes and nuts seem to be working for me. and low carb. and walking and moving every day without exception.
Well. You are a well aware lady. While reading your comment I felt if it was my story but I have very very less chances to get medical help and you you know about medical doctors, they totally ask you to restrain from Keto.
It is an art and science but worth every step of “doing it without poisons,” . . . oh, I mean meds.

Try fermented green plums 🙂
I have what she has and for a long time and i have been off gluten, dairy and sugar and very low carb diet 4 years. No soy. I have a problem stomach that is producing acid reflux. If you don’t digest food it is a problem . I am trying to work with drs. But none of the drs do anything but prescribe anti acids
Dr Dr B. You are the ONLY person who says that eating veggies may not be the best thing – Thank you. The more veggies I eat the worse it gets (and I love my veggies a lot) – I don’t even mention it to my GP as I know they wouldn’t believe me. In fact, the less veggies I eat the better it gets. Thank you for your informations and intelligence and for passing this information to us.
You are very welcome, so glad it is helpful.
OMG, yes! I eat a salad and I feel so heavy! I don’t eat eat it much and definitely stay away from whole grains! Still, If I go 2x a week, I am lucky. But I feel it’s always been like this for me. So I brush it off.
I do 16 to 20 hr IF daily and 2mad on low carb diet. Initially my gut was going brilliant but after that it went back to same old state. What’s wrong here@@Drberg
@@DrbergI had constipation for 7 to 10 years. Took magnesium oxide every day. Then it flipped to IBS-D for another 7 years. It looks like I had a thiamine deficiency. I had Raynaud’s Syndrome by 15. You should really look into Histamine Sensitivity though because I have that too. Sauerkraut is really high in histamine. We need to take diamine oxidase with it. Check out Tina Peers.
Hello Dr. Berg I am from Ethiopia,I really appreciate what you’re doing keep it up!
My question is, does Himalayan salt have harmful minerals like mercury or lead
I use that powder “CALM” at night before bed. It has magnesium in it.

The most critical factor for a flawless defecation on a regular basis is high quality deep Sleep. That is when peristalsis is flawless and your para sympathetic nervous system at its best in modulating MMC – migrating motor complex.
Some of the stuff I’ve discovered that helps immensely.
1. Electrolytes and Hydration – potassium (critical), magnesium (important), salt (important), water intake (important,).
2. Amino acids – L-tryptophan (serotonin is critical for bowel motility), Glycine, Taurine (for bile, bile is critical for fecal volume, color, detoxification , and motility).
3. Methylation – B vitamins esp B6, folate, B12 and B3 influence bile output, detox pathways, bowel motility patterns.
4. Prebiotic fiber and polyphenols – help synthesise SCFA’s that directly promote integrity of large bowel lining and act as fuel source- you could consider entric coated butyrate also.
5. Physical activity – critical to support blood circulation to your entire gut – Brisk walking, keggel, and stretching ezcersises of pelvic and abdominal reigion.
6. Finally Deep therapeutic Sleep – Avoid carbs/sugars/alcohol/caffeine/blue light at night , ++ potassium, magnesium, glycine, tryptophan, theanine, myo-inositol, folate.
Wow, it just shouldn’t be this hard to do something that is supposed to be so natural!! All my life I’ve suffered..it’s a full time job!!!!
Thanks for sharing your information here. Do well.
Sena leaf is one remedy in Ayurveda for constipation. There are 127 such remedies in Ayurvedic medicine. I am an Indian and after watching your videos I realised how important liver is for our over all health. After that I care only about what I eat and intermittent fasting. Now I am totally on Ayurvedic Remedies (100% herbal).
Thank You 🙏🙏🙏for your generous advice and videos, you are doing a great job for free that most of the doctors don’t do, even after charging a lot.
ive also had success with Triphala
You are very welcome, very glad it is of assistance. Keep up the good work.
after I cut out all grains, nuts, seeds, oats, vegetables, and increased animal protein & fat…… i have zero potty- issues
I have been doing the carnivore diet for only 2 weeks so far. My skin has never been clearer, and any uncomfortable gut feelings have totally gone away.
So u dont eat anything sweet???
My whold life I suffered with constipation. In 2009 I completely changed lifestyle to a whole foods low-fat diet, plenty of exercise and vegetables. My constipation worsened. I went through years of pain in my digestive tract, trying everything. Until I cut vegetables out and went on a high fat carnivore diet and prolonged fasting. It healed my gut quickly and I have never felt better! No more gut pain or constipation- unless I add in too many veggies or seasonings. For me, high fat carnivore and fasting keeps me feeling light and energetic!!
Awesome, big congrats!
Thank you! I’ve started carnivore and the results are showing, but there’s plenty to repair I find. I appreciate this timely message! Thank you, always!
Oatmeal did me in and ended up in hospital with 3 blockages. I stay away from all grains now.
For me, I fixed my constipation by just eating organic oatmeal every morning. I can’t skip a day. This keeps me regular with no constipation.
I also add blueberries and walnuts as well as Kefir. That’s it.
We are all biochemically unique, so this may or may not work for you.
