The root cause of over 80% of chronic illnesses is insulin resistance. Fasting can help fix this problem. Fasting triggers survival genes and allows your body to use fat and ketones for energy. It takes about 3 days to get into ketosis.

When fasting, don’t eat if you’re not hungry. It’s important to let your body tell you how long to fast. Fasting makes your cells more sensitive to insulin and does not raise cortisol levels.

There are 2 types of fasting: water fasting, which means no food, and dry fasting, which means you don’t consume food or water.

Dry fasting can be even more beneficial because you trigger dehydration genes that can enhance weight loss. Fat can be converted into water for hydration while fasting. Dry fasting benefits also include enhanced autophagy and more detoxification in the liver.

If you’re fasting and you notice your hair is falling out or you lose your cycle, you might not be getting enough protein. Grass-fed red meat is the best source. It provides amino acids, trace minerals, B vitamins, and more.

  1. I combined keto and fasting 10 months ago. 60 lbs gone. I followed Fast Like a Girl. Listen to Dr. Jason Fung and also you Dr. Berg!

    • Same although I ate ketogenic or ketobiotic meaning lots and lots of vegetables, especially leafy greens before the good fats and proteins. Also added Dr Mark Hyman to this list of excellent Functional Medicine doctors committed to up-to-date health education through nutrition, time restricted eating, good quality sleep, appropriate exercise like walking and resistence training, mental and emotional health through connection, and aging with health and quality of life! So grateful to these doctors for empowering us!

  2. So, I gained a lot of weight after being prescribed the wrong depression meds. This was in 2020.
    I have been watching your videos and learnt to fast the proper way in 2024. 2024, I have lost the excess weight and I have fixed my self esteem for good.
    Also, those wrong meds screwed my pancreas it seems – i developed pre-diabetes. I couldn’t stop eating – it made my stress eating worse and gained God knows how many kgs.

    Today, I’m happy to keep my weight good and look how I want to look. And i feel super light and have lots of energy too. Fasting fixed a lot of my issues. I’ll not stop fasting. I’ll keep it going.

    • some of these depression medications have side effects that can case DIABETES after taking it only several times and sudden unexplained death… i wont say this is on purpose but i wont say it isnt ! good for you for reading the lable and tossing the poison

    • I agree with you ..I picked up a stack of weight…plus pcos since I was young..
      I told my psychiatrist…she gave me metformin..

  3. I’ve been fasting + keto for only a month now. Here are some results:
    -Much more energy, particularly in the morning
    -Better cognition (I’m studying and reading like never before)
    -Better digestion
    -Much lower stress and anxiety
    -Less arrythmia and palpitations
    -Less tiredness, weakness and nerve related issues
    -I didn’t had weight issues, but I clearly see that I’m losing fat (specially belly fat)
    -Less inflammation and backpain issues

    I think I’ll continue doing it indefinitely

  4. I’ve been IF for over 2 years now and the biggest mistake i did in the beginning was long fasts at the end of my cycle. Progesterone tanks and affects us badly. Please ease off for two weeks at the end of your cycle ladies 🙏🏻 .

I recently started dry fasting after watching one of your videos; I watch them every day. Since I started dry fasting I’ve noticed some very positive changes on top of all the benefits I had previously.   9. Imagine if everyone did everything right all the time, like wake up early go for a walk/run/exercise, read for a1 hour, eat well everyday, dont drink, dont smoke, sleep 7-8hours, have great relationships etc n etc…..Many industries wouldnt even exist

  10. I’ve done intermittent fasting and it has fixed many of my problems that I’ve developed as a result of getting Covid twice …such as hypertension, heart flutter, brain fog, etcc…..it was tough at first to fast for 16+ hours but over time, you will notice the tremendous benefits

  11. I’m so glad you’re mentioning fasting for women and minding the menstrual cycle! I had seen an older video of yours where you said it’s the same for men and women. I really respect you for updating that info now

    • I highly recommend Dr. Mindy Pelz is an expert on fasting and goes into great detail about women’s cycles and how to fast.

    • This is very important, especially if you’re in forties. I did intermittent fasting and suffered hormonal imbalances, recurrent uti.did not connect the two and suffered a lot

    • @@MarieLamour-cv1jcbecause fasting effects the hormones and some women even lose their period when fasting. Obviously that is not good and we don’t want to put such a strain on the body where it will start acting up. If you have no problems while fasting that’s great but not everyone is that lucky. Fasting does cause a stress to the body which may either be good or bad. If you get bad effects from it it would be wise to listen to your body instead of blindly following the heard.

My husband [ 72] and I [76] have been following your intermittent fasting for several months now ~ eating our first meal around 11am and a second meal around 3:30pm ~ and on Wednesdays we eat one meal at 11am and fast for 24 hours ~ we have loved this schedule because it fits right into our lifestyle.
