Fibroids decrease in size after menopause, yet pregnancy, exposure to HRT, and birth control pills can cause fibroids to enlarge. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and PCOS also increase the risk of fibroids. Black women have a 3 to 9 times higher risk of developing fibroids.

Estrogen is the primary driver of fibroids and endometriosis. A fibroid is a growth in the uterus, but it differs from uterine tissue in several ways. Fibroids are very sensitive to estrogen and have increased estrogen receptors, more of the enzyme aromatase, less oxygen than the uterus, and more inflammation.

Many health problems and risk factors associated with fibroids are related to low vitamin D. Vitamin D has incredible properties that may help inhibit the growth of fibroids.

There is also a vast amount of anecdotal evidence in support of using vitamin D to shrink fibroids.

Be sure to take vitamin D with the cofactors magnesium and vitamin K2.

    Thank you Dr Berg!
    😺👍

  2. As a black woman this video blessed me with great education and was very timely after a recent fibroid diagnosis . Thank you Dr Berg!!!

    • Hair straighteners that alot of black women use were also found to coincide with increade in fibroids. There was or still is, multiple class action lawsuits out there on this issue. All the popular products nice& easy ect are being sued.

  3. I got fibroids when I was 45. I knew they were coming because my mom and her 6 sisters had them. And my older sisters had them. Everyone got hysterectomies. I was determined that I was keeping everything that I was born with. When I got mine, I asked my doctor to just cut it out of my uterus. He said that it’s easier to remove the whole uterus. I said that I’d resolve mine with fasting. I told my doctor that fibroids feed off of sugar and that fasting and then cutting sugar would kill the fibroid. So I did. Every time I went back to get it check, which was Quarterly , the fibroid was smaller. One day it was gone. I reminded my doctor of how I resolved it and he just looked so irritated. 0:27

    • Btw, I got the fasting idea from Shawn Stevenson’s podcast, ‘the Model Health Show’. Good podcast.

    • Omg please also let us know within how many periods of you starting to fast and and quitting sugar/carbs led you to finally not finding fibroids on your last USG! I too have started doing that so I’m really curious to know! It’s just been couple of months

  4. Dr. Berg, what is the correct ratio of Vit. 3, K2, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc & Calcium, every woman should talk daily. I’m specifically talking about supplements. Thank you 💙🙏🇿🇦🇺🇲

  5. I currently have that and PCOS along with hypothyroidism. Don’t take the meds the doctors tell you to take. Follow the natural path and stay away from sodas, junk food, etc.

    • @Texasbohemian88, please research the importance of iodine with PCOS. It also helps with hypothyroidism. So many times our bodies are crying out for more minerals and vitamins and doctors only prescribe drugs. Good that you are healing naturally!

  6. Normally, if a woman has a fibroid, they may have 1 or 2, maybe up to about 6. These may be able to be surgically removed. Unfortunately, I had too many to count. My stomach was protruding like a 5 month pregnant lady. The fibroid and the removal surgery were too risky, I could bleed out, they would scar the uterus preventing a successful pregnancy and they would likely grow back. I had to have an abdominal hysterectomy and couldn’t have kids. In Australia at the time (I don’t know if it has changed), you couldn’t adopt after 35, I was 37 and surrogacy is illegal unless someone offers and doesn’t accept a payment. As Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, I always stayed out of the sun. I had all that free Vitamin D at my finger tips. I wish I had known this information then. However, thank you Dr Berg for getting this information out and helping people… not be like me.

    • I experienced a very similar situation. God bless you, friend. Words are not enough at all, but I share your grief and am so sorry.

    • @elizabethboland696  Thank you for them kind words ♥️. Now I send them back to you. I’m so sorry to you as well.

    • Sadly, there was and still is a lot of disinformation about the role of Vit D in healthcare. Docs like Dr. Berg are treated as pariahs by the establishment because they don’t follow the typical managed care flow sheets for “proper care” that brings in the most 💰& keeps patients in the waiting room.

We can be thankful for the Covid debacle for one thing: opening iu eyes to the massive scams in (USA) healthcare and government control of the food supply that haven’t resulted in a healthier population.

    • I haven’t been able to have children either. I had one extremely healthy baby. Then I couldn’t get pregnant anymore after I had been on birth control for a year or two. Had been trying for over 3 years. But I had 4 shots and was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition afterwards (rare side effects “very rare”) vein disease, seizures, ECT. Maybe it is best these days…? I mean it’s not like the food and air quality gets better every year for the children living here. Or maybe it does, don’t want my comments removed.

  7. I had my fibroids removed this year and, I’m not even 40 yet.
I think once you turn 30, the chances of fibroids growing becomes higher.

    • Its our foods, folks didn’t have these problems 200 yrs ago. Dementia was rare 200 yrs ago, it’s common now. To many processed foods with GMOS, poisons, metals in them. The clean air act dud this. They dump all factory poisons on farmland now, instead of burning it. It’s in all are foods.

  8. Its so crazy watching this video i just took off from work today because of my fibriod pain I am a black woman and i am 25 i got diagnosed with pcos &endometriosis 2 years ago i have always had horrible periods and cramps and thought it was normal and this was never properly explained to me until now thank you ❤

    • Walk, breath, support liver (reduce sugar and stress, move after eating, reduce eating frequently, don’t sleep after eating), and get some sun/light to relax and vitamin d.

  9. I had a 11cm fibroid, did not want a full hysterectomy as they said that was my only option, did my research, got onto vitamin D, intermittent fasting, green tea 3x day and two eggs every morning. This continued for two months straight with no sugar or bad food in sight, I changed my cooking oil, no processed food and my fibroid went right down.

Side note, my stomach was almost flat within three weeks but I kept this routine going for two months.

Hysterectomies are sky high for no legitimate reason and many women suffer throughout. They told me as I don’t have my periods they’ll just take both my ovaries out because I no longer need them😡. If god gave them to me, I NEED THEM.

  10. I could cry after listening to this. Back in 2019 I ended up having a hysterectomy after the discovery of a fibroid the size of a cantaloupe melon growing in my uterus. It went undetected for years as I was very silm/athletic in build due to all the crossfit, thai boxing, yoga and running that I did. For many years I just thought I had a prolapsed bladder (hence lots of strength exercises) or I was suffering with early peri-menopause. After the operation my former symptoms were gone however they had been exchanged with a set of new problems. If I knew very high doses of vitamin D had been my saviour, then I would have never had those operation.
Since following Dr Eric Berg I take high doses of vitamin D and I’m pleased to say I’m in pretty good health.

  11. I found it concerning, when they wanted to do estrogen therapy for menopause. (Years ago, it was popular.) I refused it, and now I’m very glad I did. God bless. And Thank you again Dr. Berg!

  12. I developed a fibroid sometime between age 43 and 47. I started taking progesterone during that time because my endocrinologist saw my progesterone was low. Since then, I have found out I have Vitamin D resistance and I’m now taking 20,000 IU per day (with K2) and have done this for 6 months. My blood level for Vit D is 130. I’m not obese at all. I’m now 49 and had the fibroid checked with an ultrasound. I’m not sure if it shrank but my doctor isn’t concerned. I’m seeing a new doctor and am asking them to compare the size over time because I’m curious. Thank you, Dr. Berg ❤ and hello from Floyd, Va

    • @@Emmanuellaphotosgallery yes, I’m still taking progesterone. I’m in perimenopause now (at 49) and was having trouble with the symptoms of hot flashes and insomnia. I’m taking a small dose of estrogen now, also, which has completely eliminated the symptoms, so I want to watch my fibroid closely since I’m on HRT. My doctor has even prescribed testosterone cream, which I took for a while. She said testosterone has benefits for women as long as you don’t start seeing signs of too much (like hair darkening.)

    • @KMx108 please follow up with those ultra sound results. Mine shrank years ago and then grew back larger. I plan to try Vin d3/k2/magnesium plus progesterone.

    • @@Emmanuellaphotosgallery I replied but it looks like it was deleted. Yes, I am still taking progesterone along with the D3.

  13. Thanks for covering this Dr. Berg. I commented on one of your previous videos, I stated that “higher levels of vitamin D helped to shrink my fibroids.” I’m a black woman and a registered nurse and I approve this video.

  14. Thank God for your wisdom. I was diagnosed with a 10 cm fibroid and low iron. The doctor made it sound like surgery was the only option and I needed to do it fast but I read the horror stories of the surgery and how the fibroids came back in many cases. I started taking 2000 IUs daily based off another of your videos recommending vitamin D may be the issue and it didn’t even put a dent in my problem. I couldn’t even wear pants due to the pain and sensitivity. Finally I started bleeding for months straight! I watched more of your videos and realized 2K IU wasn’t enough. I started taking more and landed on 40K daily and the bleeding stopped🎉. I could wear pants again and the bulge in my abdomen has visibly reduced! You are out here saving lives! THANK YOU

  15. Was diagnosed with fibroids and started taking soil clods mined in a certain part of kenya, together with garlic, ginger, turmeric, black pepper and oregano concoction and now I feel much better. Best of all leaky gut cured. I also do intermittent fasting and lot’s of praying.

  16. My mom (48) has fibroids and I was just telling her last night how I would do some extra research for her, to help her find anything to shrink the fibroids. We’re willing to try everything healthy before surgery being the ultimate last resort. Then you drop this gem today. Thank you so much, Dr. Berg. Your work is life-changing.

    • I’m also 48 and used to have hormone problems. At 40 I changed my diet and now have no menstrual cramps after dealing with them for years and my doctor had said I might have adenomyosis, but the symptoms resolved on their own. I am the only woman my age I know with a normal period still and most women my age I know have had hysterectomies. I do the Nutritarian diet. It took about 6 months to really start noticing the hormone changes, so it doesn’t happen right away. I think most people quit before seeing changes. I am truly grateful to feel good every day. Please pass this info on to your mom if you think it would help her. There is also a good book called Your Body in Balance by Neal Barnard that talks about these issues.
