Did you know that too much iron can decrease longevity? Your body makes hydrogen peroxide that is used by the immune system to kill microbes. When hydrogen peroxide combines with iron, it can cause serious cellular damage.

People with iron-deficiency anemia often have dysfunctional iron, which means it’s unavailable to the red blood cells. This could be why we are not seeing a decrease in anemia even though we've increased iron in the food supply.

Iron overload may increase your risk for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, heart disease, and more. Excess iron causes oxidative stress and increases inflammation.

As we age, we naturally accumulate more iron. Around 70% of our iron is stored in protein in the blood that helps carry oxygen. Ferritin should be inside your tissues to protect you from free iron and control when iron is released. This very efficient system recycles iron in the body.

Certain pathogens, microbes, and infections use iron as fuel. This is why the body protects free iron. Some people feel better after donating blood, indicating they have too much iron.

Too much iron without enough copper is a big problem. If you think you have this problem, limit iron exposure before taking a copper supplement. Iron is found in enriched flours, grains, and refined carbohydrate products. Shellfish, organ meats, sunflower seeds, and dark chocolate are good sources of copper.

To combat oxidative damage caused by iron and other factors like alcohol, smoking, pollution, and junk foods, you’ll want to build up your antioxidant reserve. Glutamine found in red meat is vital, but protein is the most important! It’s especially important to consume enough protein as you get older.

Zinc, manganese, magnesium, and selenium can increase antioxidant networks to help you regulate excess iron. Quercetin, curcumin, black tea, and increasing melatonin are also very beneficial.

Lactoferrin is the most powerful chelator for iron. It’s found naturally in dairy and can be taken as a supplement.

  1. Hello. The real key to never aging is to realise that you are not your body. But rather, that you are the ‘Life’ that is inside of it. ‘Immortal/Eternal Life’. Hence exactly why we say that every-‘Body’ dies, but ‘Life’ (We) go on. Simple really. Best wishes 🙏

    • And like most of the population goes on autopilot they do what they always do. It’s harder to change yourself in later stage of life, but it’s not impossible, just needs more sacrifice of what you’ve build to this day.

    • The Dr.s, for the most part, aren’t corrupt. They believe everything they’re telling you. That’s the genius of the system. Big food and big Pharma fund med schools. Their people sit on the board of directors and create the curriculum. They know what they’re taught.

    • Healthy patients doesn’t buy a yacht and send your kids to Yale. pharmaceutical companies paying you bonuses for writing scripts does!

    • @@mohsinahmed6717 the sad part is, a large percentage of them are too damn stubborn due to their teachings & they’ll quickly judge him for being a D.C. instead of, an M.D. 😏 Not us though!! 👍

  2. This man is almost 60 years old and looking this good. Everyone should pay attention to what he’s saying.

  3. Finally someone, with a big following on youtube, is saying the truth about iron. Too many ignorant people are taking iron as a supplement. Big mistake.

  4. The #1 Anti-Aging Hack … just what everyone needs at this time of the year after too much merry-making, lol ! 😅
Yes, too much iron without enough copper is a big problem. My aunt had serious health problems due to iron-overload.
Most people don’t know that as we age we accumulate more iron naturally. Thank you for mentioning this!
The importance of protein ! ✴ Increasing your antioxidant reserve. ✳
These are just a few of the highlights within this info-packed little vid. Very handy.
Dr, Beg, you are an 😇and I always value your advice. ☑💖

  5. I’m anemic right now, hemoglobin level 5.7 , 3 blood transfusions ( which I never wanted bc of virus transmission among other things) and my iron stores are barely a 3. I had iron in hospital but when I went to get an outpatient dose, I had a very bad reaction, like a sun burn around my torso and all my joints were itchy and inflamed… the doctors keep calling me to get another transfusion, a different iron they say but I’ve been putting them off.. now I have a solution or at least a place to start! Thanks dr berg ❤

    • Eat meat 🥩 and question everything 🥩 steak a day keeps the dr away 🥩 look into January the worlds carnivore month with Dr Anthony Chaffee, Dr Shawn Baker, the Beef & Butter Gang and others ‘round here.

    • A friend had hemoglobin down to 3, she had an infusion, the hemoglobin went up to 8. But 3 months later went down to 5, and needed another infusion. This time the blood analysis was better, and found out that the first infusion had a slight mismatch.
Anyway, my friend now had the hemoglobin back to 12.
I am not exactly sure which single factor made it. She eat red meats and liver every day and I gv her supplements : omega3, vit A+d from cod liver oils, b complex, d3 + k2, iodine, copper, ferritin, lactoferin, magnesium, boron, kelp, sea mos, dried beef organ capsules, oregano oils, etc.
I suspected that it cud be her using lugols iodine to wash her inside of virgina, as it has growth as shown by ultrasound.

  6. The only anti-aging hack in life is to design your life in a way that when Sunday evening 8 pm rolls around you don’t get anxiety because you need to get up and work the next day.. Design your life in a way that when Sunday evening 8 pm rolls around you feel excited that a new week is going to start and that you look forward to that Monday ..

  7. 59 year old male, Post Covid; I was at 180lbs & gained approximately 25 pounds due to self isolation, an inexpensive food supply, (purchased by me) very little exercise, etc…but, I was actually 35-40 pounds overweight…32 pounds gone & still going. 205 down to 173.
I cut approximately 80% of my sugar intake. Started eating healthier. Went back to work, in construction, as a craftsman, not a supervisor. (42 years total in construction) I began working beyond my hunger, to the point to where I just couldn’t take it, then, I would eat. Apparently, I might have stumbled across intermittent fasting, but, on a daily basis, several times a day & I do this on my days off too. Also, I don’t have a set “lunch hour” which affords me the luxury of eating lunch when I want & I take a healthy lunch to work with me…EVERY DAY! Also, I stopped eating quickly & to the point of being stuffed! I eat until I’m mildly satisfied. That’s hard sometimes, but, I do it. My belly fat, which was thee worst part of my weight gain, is almost…almost gone! 10 more pounds to lose & it’s probably more belly fat! 😏 My efforts, along with, Dr. Berg’s recommendations, have me losing weight, sleeping so incredibly sound, thinking more clearly, (than I was 6 months ago) high energy levels, just…damn, the list of benefits is crazy long!!
    I’m a first year Gen X’er, I’m no longer going to McDonald’s & I’m loving it!! 😂
P.S. I (almost) quit fast food too!! I do allow myself a once a month, sometimes bi-monthly, indulgence, but, I have to be going to work the next day to process it/burn it off!!
    Take care everyone!! 👍😎✌️

    • I’m so proud of you ❤❤❤❤I want to thank you for sharing your beautiful story. You have inspired me to change. I gained quite a bit of weight due to illness and self isolation as well. I’m not back to work but I am caring for my grandson he is 5months old.Again thank you ❤

    • I’m in the trades also, it’s one of the few occupations that people say “you must get a lot of joy/ sense of accomplishment from what you do”
It’s crazy to do something that there’s not at least a good chance you’ll feel good about what you did . I think the same should go for diet and lifestyle which are all linked. Nonetheless , I try to also be thoughtful about why I do what I do – it’s baffling what I’ve convinced myself is fine that other times I’m appalled by !

  8. Fasting 72 hours on 84 off with emphasis on sugar deprivation and you will literally reverse the aging process I have done this myself and people literally told me you look 10 years younger.

    • it always sounds unbelievable to me when people say they go multiple days without eating, the most I’ve managed is 24 hours and the hunger was unbearable at that point

    • @@hotdog5927Truth. I cant go 15 hours…..I played sport all my life and my body is used to putting out a lot of energy and n getting it back….I start fasting I lose muscle mass and my works outs go to crap

    • Well I’m 68 and was at the gym last week, I was discussing general health etc. with two others, their jaws dropped when I told them how old I was. One just said he didn’t think I was anywhere near that age, the other put me in mid to late fifties…I fast regularly, exercise regularly, I do like a drink especially whiskey, but don’t smoke, apart from a dodgy hip, feel fine…

  9. TY Dr. B❤ I just had my 6th year anniversary of doing fasting, keto and fitness. 51 years old and I am so healthy and fit. Forever grateful to you. Wishing you and loved ones a happy and blessed 2025🙏🏼
