Let’s talk about the incredible potential health benefits of turmeric and how to increase the bioavailability of turmeric.

You can consume organic turmeric or take a supplement. If you want to take a supplement, it’s best to get a turmeric supplement and not just curcumin. Curcumin is only one of many phytonutrients in turmeric. It’s also important that it’s a freeze-dried supplement.

Black pepper or white pepper can help you increase the absorption of turmeric. You can also consume a small amount of fat at the same time for better absorption.

Keep in mind that the phytonutrients in turmeric are heat sensitive, so cooking with turmeric could make them less potent.

The two main areas of research for turmeric are inflammation and cancer. A lot of the direct benefits of turmeric can lead to various other powerful effects, and turmeric also has virtually no side effects.

Potential health benefits of turmeric:
1. It increases glutathione and other antioxidant networks
2. It has potent effects on the brain and nervous system
3. It has powerful effects on the cardiovascular system
4. It’s antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-candida, antifungal, antiparasitic, and anti-H. pylori
5. It shows great benefits for skin problems
6. It helps protect the liver
7. It helps stimulate phase-2 detoxification
8. It inhibits pro-carcinogens
9. It increases bile salts
10. It supports the gut mucosal lining
11. It helps protect the DNA and supports DNA repair and apoptosis
12. It protects the cells during chemo or radiation therapy and may increase the effectiveness of the treatment
13. It supports the endocrine system
14. It’s a powerful adaptogen

  1. It helped with my children’s eczema flare-ups as well, when mixed up with coconut oil.Try it Dr Berg with green tea and freshly ground cardamom. It will take teatime into another level ☕😍

  2. Crazy he does this video now, I’ve been researching this this past week, thank you so much Dr. Berg ❤

  3. I swear its like Dr. Eric reads minds, I just last week ordered turmeric supplements that has black pepper and ginger in the capsules with it. you made this video on perfect timing. I appreciate you a lot Eric. sending love from Denmark.

  4. I’ve been taking turmeric for years. I had three cancer scares last year – three biopsies. All benign. My dad, in his 70s at the time, took turmeric throughout his stage 4 liver and esophagus cancer. He’s 83, still cancer free, still taking turmeric.

True Champions comment below triggered the memory of how I started. I saw a dr. (can’t remember name but he’s famous) talking about drinking golden milk at night. I actually did that at first but got lazy and started taking the capsules. Look up golden milk and find the recipe you like best. It’s pretty good. I have drank Organifi Gold, which is really good (expensive, though but what price can we put on health).

  5. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitus3 years ago and prescribed ( by a specialist) a drug to minimise the symptoms. My system couldn’t tolerate the drug and it’s side effects. I approached my G.P who suggested I try Tumeric tablets as where he was trained ( South Africa) it is commonly used for all digestive problems and many other difficulties. I started on Tumeric tablets over 2 years ago and all my Ulcerative problems have vanished, along wth my Fibromyalgia symptoms. Strangely my skin has vastly improved also. I’m a 73 y.o. male. and cannot praise it enough.

  6. We grew a TON of turmeric in South Georgia this year for the first time ever. Harvested it a few weeks ago. Also got over 100 elderberry trees going that we make our own tinctures from. Country folks can survive!

    • From Hank Jr’s “country boy can survive” classic country song. Some of the lyrics: “The preacher man says it’s the end of time
And the Mississippi River, she’s a-goin’ dry
The interest is up and the stock market’s down
And you only get mugged if you go downtown
I live back in the woods you see
My woman and the kids and the dogs and me
      I got a shotgun, a rifle and a four-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
      Country folks can survive”

  7. So far, I consider the following to be the most beneficial, natural substances to have on hand at all times to solve almost every ailment or emergency: turmeric, ginger, coconut oil, real salt, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, magnesium, hydrogen peroxide, olive oil, lemons, tea tree oil, bone broth/collagen and senna.

I would love Dr. Berg to do an episode on the essential natural cabinet like this for welcome any comments from others to add their own to the list.

  8. I’ve been doing “the turmeric shakey-shake”for years, and even put a dash or two of it on those eggs you got me eating every morning, Doc….lol. (Also the pepper….lol). I used to carry a shaker of turmeric around and when I would eat out at restaurants, I’d pull it out and sprinkle it on the food they brought me and then would chat with the servers, who would ask what it was and why I was using it, and we’d usually piss off the other diners by spending time sharing family stories of health and such, and how turmeric would help those we loved in this life….lol. Question: doesn’t that turmeric stain your and the Mrs. teeth? It doesn’t appear so in your video, though, but it always stains when I sometimes get wild and toss it on a sleeve or something….lol. Also, I had heard that the “pharms” were trying to patent it in India and the country fought that? Is it still something that most household in India have in their backyards to ingest on the daily? And I had read somewhere that when someone gets married, they are given a turmeric plant to start their life and family with? Your viewers are worldwide now, so maybe a subscriber or loyal viewer knows. Thanks for more intel, Doc, as you bring facets in something that most people have never even thought of…lol. Have a great week, Doc. 🌻

    • It actually can whiten your teeth! Like how charcoal works, just brush with a little powder on ur brush it Will turn yellow, but your teeth will look brigjter! It’s far out i was nervous but after i tried it amazing!! It’s not as abrasive as charcoal either!

    • @Anew1008 good to know. Thanks, seriously! 😁. I’m always looking for whitening products, without fluoride and such, to help maintain my grin…lol….and such a natural solution for that. Ain’t nature grand? 🌻

  9. Turmeric is a very common ingredient in India. It’s used in a lot of dishes along with other such medicinal herbs.

  10. I have been taking a turmeric, olive oil, cinnamon, 1/2 lemon squeeze elixir for 2 months and my body feels the difference. I like this video because it clarifies why I feel better. I was using a sprinkle of cayenne pepper, but I think I will also swallow a pepper corn. This info is the kind that changes one life for the better. Thank you Dr. Berg. Now I want to go and get the organic whole turmeric and bite it like you. 😁 I was using the powdered form.

    • @debbie haythe Excuse me but do you know if Tumeric stimulates fertility in women? Can it delay menopause for older women?

    • @Meow Chat I’ve been experiencing pain in my parts from the pause. Now going to the co-op for some organic root to plant!!!

    • I’m not sure if Dr Berg has touched on it yet but if you take cinnamon as a supplement you want to ensure its Ceylon cinnamon, all other types contain high levels of coumarin

  11. I live in Sri Lanka where the best quality turmeric is grown. It’s widely grown at the level of home garden too and easily available to anyone. It’s used as a condiment. And it’s a major component or ingredient in indigenous medical treatment. However, this video brings more information about it than I have ever heard from our elders, doctors or specialists. Thanks very much!

  12. I take turmeric everyday and it’s great. Along with cleaning up my diet, I have really cleared up a lot of aches and pains I had when I was younger.
My daughter separated her shoulder last year playing basketball. The average time to heal for that separation was 12 weeks. We gave her tons of turmeric and vitamins, took out sugar, gluten, and dairy, and she was cleared to play in one week. It helps that we have very clean diets already.

  13. It’s nice to see that Indian condiments are being accepted worldwide as more than just taste enhancers. Our food is not just tasty, it’s healthy too!! Only it shouldn’t be deep fried 😅

    • @Acidobay It’s not about who is using turmeric today as everything is available globally thanks to globalisation. The point is turmeric is originally cultivated and used in India since ancient times that none of our cultural ceremonies are complete without it’s presence to date as it’s interwoven into our day-to-day lifestyle and culture, whereas turmeric is merely a culinary item for the rest of the world. It’s even part of our ancient literatures as old as 2000 years whilst your New Zealand was not even known to have existed.

  14. In Indonesia, turmeric is one of the main ingredients of herbal medicine. Turmeric is also a raw material for healthy fresh drinks. Can be mixed with ginger, tamarind, lemon, lime, kencur, cinnamon and others.

  15. Started taking Turmeric several months ago because it was an antioxidant. Immediately, I noticed a difference concerning stiffness in some of my joints when it’s extremely humid outside. Glad to hear that it literally helps every part of a person’s body. Thanks Dr. Berg!

  16. Turmeric has been known for its medicinal properties in India for ages, it is part of the everyday diet. The Ayurveda (Indian medicinal System) mentions its uses in depth.

    Few uses of turmeric:
    1. A spoonful of turmeric in a glass of milk helps heal inner injuries faster.
    2. A paste of turmeric and honey helps reduce inflammation and cures muscle injury.
    3. Turmeric paste is used to heal open wounds and burns.
    3. Indian brides as part of a ritual apply turmeric paste to their body and face which gives a shiny golden look to the skin.
