2 CARB FRIED CHICKEN! How to Make Delicious KFC Keto Fried Chicken

Happy New Year Everyone! Today, on Low Carb Love, we are making the most requested recipe for the new year, KETO KFC FRIED CHICKEN! The easy is incredibly easy to follow along and it so delicious and moist! Leave a comment below if you'd like an Extra Crispy Version πŸ’•

Keto KFC Fried Chicken:

Servings: 10

Ingredients:
1.5-2 Pounds Skin on chicken, cut into pieces
1 eggs
1/2 cup heavy cream
Plastic bag
1 1/2 cups almond flour
1 tablespoon tapioca flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp paprika
Β½ teaspoon xanthan gum
Β½ teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Β½ teaspoon white pepper
Β½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Avocado oil for frying

*Allow the chicken to dry for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.

Directions:
1. Rinse the chicken pieces with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Make sure your chicken is as dry as possible.
2. In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, and stir. Soak the chicken in the milk mixture for 30 minutes in the fridge, this tenderizes the chicken.
3. Combine the flour and spices (if using) a large bowl . Add the chicken pieces, a few at a time, and shake to coat completely in the flour. Shake off any excess and set the chicken aside on a rack to dry.
4. Pour the oil into a deep skillet or deep fryer and heat it to 350 degrees F. Add chicken thighs and legs and cook for several minutes.
5. Add other chicken pieces being careful not to overcrowd skillet. Continue cooking, turning once, until chicken pieces are golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels and serve warm or at room temperature.

      Hmmm…I air fried and the almond flour coating does not crisp up, it tastes like you’re eating almond flour straight out of the bag.

    • Looks good; I’ll be trying this soon. FYI, you can get powdered buttermilk, which you can add to the heavy cream, to give it more of an authentic buttermilk fried chicken taste and juiciness. I got mine at the supermarket, much better than trying to use up buttermilk before it goes bad or paying a lot for a very small bottle of it.

    • I thought I saw comments for temperture of the oven and time needed to bake after frying, but I dont see it now. Any help?

      If I air fry it, do I still fry it in oil to start off with?

      Making this tomorrow, any helpful hints are appreciated!

      Been keto for about a year and a half and Ive lost 93lbs (42lbs to go). The really great thing about it is Im hardly ever hungry or craving bad stuff. And my labs and vitals look perfect for a guy in his thirties, I’m sixty-two, lol!

  1. This looks amazing! Mayra I think that MAYBE if the β€œbreading” is put in the fridge for a while too so that it also gets cold, that might help get them even crispier. Like with tostones lol. When you put them in ice water before you fry them (and dry them off first of course) how they come out crispier. It might be the same effect with the breading. It looks just like the original kfc for real! Excellent job!

    • @Riderhard Yes, tapioca starch is a high carb item but the recipe literally has 1 tablespoon of it (7g carbs) divided by 10 servings. Not a significant amount of carbohydrates at all.

  7. Try using sour cream with a squeeze of lemon juice, instead of heavy cream. It will help to tenderize your chicken if you leave it for a couple hours and it will give it that tart flavor that buttermilk would have without the carbs.

    • Add intermittent fasting. The weight will fall off. Also HIIT exercise. There are a lot of great 4 and 5 minute hiit sessions on YouTube.

  12. Amazing!!! Cooked this tonight, 2 versions. One with chicken as you made it for my other half who doesn’t do keto and one for me substituting the chicken with Quorn fillets as I’m veggie. My other half said its exactly the same if not better than KFC as it tasted clean and healthy. I’ve never eaten KFC and loved it. The flavours are great! Other half has just wandered in the room again and is still talking about it, he said it was supreme and probably the best chicken I’ve ever cooked 😁. Thank you SOOOOO MUCH!!!! 😍

  13. GIRL you did it again on this fried chicken recipe. I made as directed the spices are on POINT! But, I air FRIED! It took a couple of times but I finally got mine crispy and looks like yours! Oh it cooks best with organic thighs juicy and so flavorful! YUMMY! And… oh yes, I’m OBSESSED! We had cauliflower Mac and cheese, fresh green beans with red onions and bacon balsamic vinaigrette plus, a big arugula and parm side salad for my hubby!   15. If you want to keep the almond flour from burning, you can use sous vide to cook the chicken at 145ΒΊF (for dark meat, or 140ΒΊ for white meat) and start with the “cooked” chicken. Then you can pull it out of the oil whenever you like the surface.

    I worked at KFC in another life, and they way they made the extra crispy was by dunking it again after putting it in the breading, then breading it a second time.
