Let’s talk about the best remedies for cataracts and how to help prevent cataracts naturally. Cataracts are a problem with the lens of the eye—the lens becomes opaque and is difficult to see through.

Glycation is one of the top causes of cataracts. Glycation is a term to describe the combining of sugar with protein or sugar with fat. The more glycation occurs in a person’s lenses, the more eye problems they could experience.

Glycation could be why people with diabetes have a higher risk of cataracts and another reason why a low-sugar, low-carb diet is so important.

Top causes of cataracts:
• Glycation
• Aging
• Chronic use of steroids
• Chronic stress
• Alcohol
• Smoking
• Exposure to microwaves
• Junk foods
• Exposure to certain chemicals
• Oxidation
• High-sugar diets

The best natural remedies for cataracts:
1. Intermittent fasting
2. Cruciferous vegetables
3. Egg yolks
4. Selenium
5. Vitamin C
6. Vitamin E
7. Zinc
8. NAC
9. Thiamine (vitamin B1)
10. Riboflavin (vitamin B2)

  1. im 42 years old i had cataracts when i was 37 it was so terrible everything was blurry so much even trying to read i had to use like a microscope and behind the car its like the front windshields were always fogged up thats why i stop driving then i had my cataracts surgery both eyes it was a miracle everything was so hd imax 4k my vision was amazing i was so happy i started to cry now everything is awesome with my eye visions take care 👍

    • @Matthew Mittens how would cataract surgery do anything to the floaters? It’s my understanding that it’s floating proteins and tissue inside of the fluid of the eye which would not be affected At All by replacing the lens. Did your doctor explain?

    • Wow happy for you! I am nervous one cataract needs replacing Now and other not yet. My sister had both eyes done and one is fine other is still blurry, so I am nervous 😬

    • AWESOME!!!!!! I can relate in a small way when in early 80s when I wore my first pair of soft contacts. I remember walking home from the Dr with my new lenses in…I never touched the ground!

  2. I look forward to my “Daily Fix” of information from Dr Berg, every morning. And often spreads into 2-3 videos, and occasionally, 4.
But I just love this channel ❤️❤️❤️

  3. I’ve heard that one of the reasons of cataracts is the “maillard” reaction, caused by excessive fructose consumption. Compared to glucose, fructose makes this seven times faster.

    • When I used to eat cheap crap chocolate with HFCS I noticed my BP would instantly skyrocket and my eyes would start to hurt. I’ve heard tissue glycation from fructose is 10x worse than from glucose.

    • Indeed The Maillard Reaction (heat on protein that creates a sweet taste with BBQ for example) makes many foods taste wonderful, but sadly this is also what is called advanced glycation end-products aka AGEs which are really bad throughout the body, especially eyes.

  4. Wow! New information for me! The last time I had my eyes checked I was told I had beginning signs of Cataracts! I am almost 70 and began Lego in August of 22. The advantages of Keto are endless. Thank you Dr Berg.

    • Lego, consists of variously colored interlocking plastic bricks accompanying an array of gears, figurines called minifigures, and various other parts. Lego pieces can be assembled and connected in many ways to construct objects, including vehicles, buildings, and working robots. Anything constructed can be taken apart again, and the pieces reused to make new things.

    • Cure = Lens replacement surgery. Eating proteins with sugar produce advanced glycation end-products, AGE which is bad for eyes and everything else. I GUESS extended periods of fasting “might” improve things – but I doubt any variant of doctor would suggest this.

  5. Love the information ℹ️ Dr. Keep us informed on the importance of water and best ways to drink it

  6. My mom was 90% blind in her left eye due to cataracs. Last week, she had the surgery & she has to do another surgery for the same eye. They said her cateracts was so thick, they could not see through it at all.

  7. I had cataract surgery in my late 40’s. Best thing to ever happen. My vision is crisper, clearer, and colors are extremely vibrant. Laser eye surgery helped a lot. Driving, I feel much safer now. And I can see signs again.

    • @Jared Merlin I thought cataract was replacing the lens in which case they would correct your vision with the proper lens installed at the same time, therefore there would be no need for laser surgery the correct vision afterwards?

  8. 1. Intermittent Fasting
    2. Cruciferous Vegetables
    3. Egg Yolks
    4. Selenium
    5. Vitamin C
    6. Vitamin E
    7. Zinc
    8. NAC
    9. Thiamine (Vitamin B1)
    10. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)

This list is also in Dr. Berg’s comments for the video.

    • @Lillian it’s a created shortage. I heard from others they buy eggs directly from farmers for$1.99 a dozen this was in MA I believe.

    • Dr. Berg is the best! I have all these vitimines except selenium .I do steam my vegetables as I hate eating them, but I will incorporate your advice. I see you have videos on pancreatic cancer. What do you think of cyberknief if neoplasm has not spread. My friend had it and was cancer free for two years, but now the tumor markers started to go up. He is getting a PET scan as another scan with dye showed something. Best regards. 👌

  9. Since I started following Dr Berg’s advice my health has greatly improved. He definitely deserves an award! Thank you very much Dr Berg. 👌👍 best regards from Dublin Ireland

  10. Thanks Dr Berg , my 23 and Me report says I’m possibly going to get macular degeneration , I am taking cod liver oil everyday and I eat fatty fish with eggs for breakfast. Thanks Dr Berg 😊

  11. I have a very small cataract, too small for eye surgery according to my eye dr. and I already take zinc, NAC, E, C, and Selenium every day. I eat LOTS of salad greens, broccoli, spinach & eggs and I eat very little sugar. So I’m hoping mine will stay at bay.

  12. Tip for dog owners. There’s also carnosine eye drops that, after several weeks of use, cleared a common type of cloudy cataract in my 14-year-old West Highland terrier’s eyes and she stopped bumping into furniture and could clearly see much better – back to normal or nearly so. Her eyes remained clear for 4 more years until she passed away having only occasionally given her drops for maintenance (btw, she ate fresh cooked meat, no dog food). As Dr Berg explained, it’s thought that cataracts form from sugars being added to proteins on the lens (glycation) and carnosine drops specifically work via an antiglycation effect. Animal studies confirmed this mechanism for carnosine drops and also showed carnosine reduced oxidative stress. I used the Can-C brand. [reposted this from a reply]

  13. Great info! When you get to the cruciferous vegetables, can you speak to how eating those raw may or may not hurt ones thyroid function? I was told that if I want to repair my thyroid function to avoid raw cruciferous vegetables. Is that true?

    • I do believe there is a lot of truth to that. So you help one problem and make another problem worse. Can be confusing at times to say the least. Best wishes to you!

  14. Always love your tone of voice and the pace when u speak…makes listening so soothing and reassuring especially on such topics. Thank you Dr. Berg!

  15. I was 18 when I had retinal detachment and I believe it was because I was binge drinking at a young age. I got surgery and was left with cataracts in my eye… i take vitamins and try my best to prevent my eyes from worsening. Thank you for this video
