  2. Too hard for too little benefit. Need the epigenetic renewal treatment. When is that going to be available to the public?

  3. Well, if you believe in “studies” on mortality, Sauna supposedly reduces mortality by 40%. Unless you enjoy CR, why spend efforts on modalities with small amounts of efficacy.

    I don’t like being too full though. So while I am not intentionally CR, I find myself eating less as time goes by. I am probably not near CR because I am not hungry or thin.

    Also, CR plus added modalities (such as sauna and exercise) might be a detriment and not a benefit. Remember, that the NIA CR monkeys died earlier than the regularly fed controls monkeys. We’re not sure why that happened.

    • Plenty of studies were monkeys lived longer. Problem with doing CR without malnutrition is a very fine line. Despite being aggressive and angry all the time, monkeys do live longer on CR. Just like everything else. You want to achieve hormesis, but enough micronutrients for best results. It’s kinda complicated since there are many factors that determine lifespan. Especially, for humans and monkeys you probably dont want to go high percentage CR.

      Specifically, I believe the following statement is incorrect:

      To my knowledge, there were only two long term CR monkey studies: U of W and NIA.
      The CR monkeys lived long when calorie restricted on a junk food like diet in U of W. The CR monkeys died earlier when calorie restricted on a more healthful diet (compared to U of W). At best, it seems to me to be 50 / 50 as to whether CR is beneficial or detrimental in monkeys.

      If I have this wrong, I would appreciate if someone corrected me (with citations if possible.)

  4. My great gran is still alive at the age of 103 and still walks around. This is what she eats in an entire day (twice a day):
    1. Hung curd/Greek Yogurt
    2. Pulses 1 cup
    3. Handful of rice
    4. A cup of tea
    5. A handful of resins and nuts

    • Amazing, if you can still walk at that age. First thing people always ask to centenarians: what do you eat!? Like if you ate exactly the same you’re also going to live that long. Nothing could be further from the truth however. How much you eat and avoiding all the ultra processed stuff will likely help much more. Main thing is keeping the same low weight and body composition since you were young adult. Avoiding/dealing with stress and inflammation will have a big impact. Still, the foxo3a gened small petite female will outlive everyone with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of alcohol in the other. 😉

    • Gotta love all the anecdotal “my gam gam ” stories. Just as many centenarians drank and smoke their whole lives. Not saying it doesn’t matter what one eats or drinks, but I am saying it doesn’t matter what your gran ate.

    Sure, if you want to starve yourself for 80y, being infertile, frail and lethargic. It’s a great way of preservation.
