Today I want to cover some lesser-known symptoms of zinc deficiency.
Zinc is an important trace mineral. You don’t need a lot of zinc, but if you’re missing it, you could experience a lot of health concerns.
Commonly known symptoms of zinc deficiency:
• Loss of smell
• Dwarfism
• Susceptibility to infection
• Hair loss or thinning hair
• Diarrhea
• Dermatitis
• Mental irritability or fatigue
Lesser-known symptoms of zinc deficiency:
1. Lack of taste (bland, metallic, or bitter-tasting food)
2. Inability to detect flavors
3. Hypogonadism
4. Impaired hippocampus (memory problems, inability to learn, and problems with spatial location)
5. Infected nail beds, weak nails, white spots or white lines on the nails
6. Delayed healing
7. Night blindness
The top cause of zinc deficiency is a diet high in refined carbohydrates. Learn more about the benefits of a low-carb diet in my other videos.

Interesting, I’ve been experiencing a lack of smell for the longest of time now. Don’t think it’s because of a lack of zinc though judged on the symptoms described. Have a nice day Dr Berg 👋🏼
same here
When I was sick with Covit I lost the sense of smell and taste for few months. Then I started taking B complex vitamins and zinc to boost my immunity and the problem was gone few weeks later. Thank God I am back to normal. I can smell and taste like I did before.
@Chris how much Zinc did you take?
@Chris thank you , I will try that
Binge watching all your videos for nearly 2 weeks now. Really awesome information.
There is only one thing I would wish for improvement.
Could you use, when it comes to measurement, both systems in the future? Metric and Imperial?
😂 mmol/dL to mg/dL 🤔 there’s probably an app for that 🤣😅
In older adults, zinc deficiency can delay wound healing and cause problems with thinking, reasoning, and memory.
When you are younger too.

I just did this test and was shocked to find I was deficient. I eat plenty of food with zinc and no carbs. My gut is not in good shape though, could that be the reason? Anyway, since I’ve been taking extra zinc my sleep is much better x
I used zinc carnosine 6 months ago and I could smell anything I looked at across a room. Felt as if I had the smelling ability of a dog. My strength also increased substantially. 9 pull ups easily. When I stoped using zinc carnosine I quickly faded to 2 pull-ups.
Underrated comment right there
Dr. Berg, could you do a deep dive on how certain toxins can connect to cell membrane receptors and block nutrients from getting into the cell. I believe that this happens with zinc being blocked leading to hair loss and possibly hypothyroidism.
I have been learning from your guidance for the last year, thank you Dr Berg
Dr Berg can you talk about enzymes to use for people on keto/fat/carnivore diet ? I always love your valuable lessons. Thank you
