Today I want to share some new interesting information on how to put diabetes in remission.

If you fix insulin resistance, you can fix your type 2 diabetes. But, if you have a fatty liver, you can't get rid of insulin resistance.

If you have insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, or diabetes, you need to focus on removing fat from your liver. You can develop insulin resistance with less than two percent of the liver being fatty.

The good news is that the brain and body love to run on ketones instead of glucose for fuel. It’s crucial to start running your body on ketones to fix insulin resistance and other health concerns.

When you decrease your blood glucose, the body starts using ketones. Within six days of running the body on ketones, you can significantly improve the effects of insulin resistance in your liver. The ketogenic diet has been shown to decrease 50 percent of the fat in a person’s liver within two weeks.

Key things to start doing right now:
1. Get on the ketogenic diet
2. Consume a moderate amount of protein
3. Consume apple cider vinegar (one to two tablespoons in water)
4. Let your appetite dictate when you eat (eat less frequently)
5. Exercise on a regular basis

  1. I’ve been in ketosis for over 3.months after finding your videos. The other day, I hiked 10 miles on an empty stomach and took no provisions with me. I didn’t feel hungry or thirsty, and the most key benefit was that I never “sugar crashed” even on the big climbs. Amazing. I’m now getting ripped in my 50s. Thank you, your advice and guidence has drastically improved my lifestyle choices and health 🙏💙

    • Not keeping hydrated is unwise. Dehydration can cause hikers to become confused and disoriented, which if hiking alone, can quickly lead an otherwise capable hiker to become lost. Dehydration victims often exhibit a lack of appetite from nausea and dizziness. Water with Electrolytes Salt and Potassium in it is needed for for a trek like that.

    • @Keto Diet I understand your comment, but I hydrated beforehand and also learned salt is key, not fluids. I take high grade seasalt in lemon water in the morning. This prevented any headaches and also the requirement for more liquid.
I cycle and walk for miles and was not advising anyone to try it. But I was fine and felt fit, healthy and focused the entire walk. I will add that I didn’t eat or drink immediately when I arrived back home.

    • you need to watch your potassium, most folks in ketosis will sooner or later get hypokalemia. better have an eye on this.

    • Well done Jason and it’s only just the beginning of what is possible, I’ve been doing this for nearly a year and lost 16kg I was very fit before but now I am unbelievably fit, now it’s incredible what I can do at 60yrs old, I run and cycle, I can cycle 100km no breakfast and no food on the ride, my body is in tune with burning my body fat for energy but one thing very important when doing exercise and fasting is to keep up with your electrolytes even when you don’t exercise, I make my own its really easy or you can buy them.

    • @#LiveLoveRide Please share how you make your own electrolytes. And what kind can be bought. I am not familiar with this, at least I don’t think I am. Thanks

  2. Following your advise with foods to eat, IF, vitamin D3 K2, ACV, cleaNing up my fatty liver, no longer needing Metformin, having all bloodwork perfect and the latest phenomenon of no longer needing glasses at age 71….I feel like I found the FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!!🎉❤Thank you Dr Berg😘💯

    • Sinyarlj
That’s fantastic 👏. May I ask how you were able to stop wearing glasses? I try to take as many vitamins as I can afford (especially with our prices out of control nowadays on everything 😡😔) but I would love to not have to wear contacts anymore!!! Thanks in advance for your help.😊❤

  3. Though I’m not diabetic as far as I know, apple cider vinegar is amazing for too many things. Thanks for the info Dr Berg 🌸

    • You are correct! Apple Cider Vinegar is nutritious and delicious! My father passed away from diabetes. Since then, I aspire to be nutrition-mindful. Apple cider vinegar is a daily part of my diet!

  4. Not just a national treasure but an international treasure who is leaving clues to a better life for even some people here in Brazil. Thank you Dr. Berg.

  5. You can trust Dr Berg, He put my health back on track and I feel SO MUCH better than a year ago! Younger, stronger, and healthier! Thanks Dr Berg! Shared, of course. ✅

  6. This is such a valuable presentation. Thank you Doc. I have had fantastic success losing weight and feeling better following a ketogenic lifestyle.

  7. I’ve been on one meal a day (keto) for past 10 months and lost over 60 kg, stopped blood pressure medication and feel great. It does work. It’s now my lifestyle for life.

    • I have a lot of low carb vegetables, salads, fish or beef, nuts, few eggs, etc. I think it is fairly balanced diet that works out around 2000kcal per day. As my weight is now stable it looks like it’s all I need.

  8. Dr. Berg, where have you been for 4 days? We are craving your videos. Please don’t disappear.

  9. So relieved to see you back here, my dear Dr. Berg. You are a big part of my much better health and my online routine. Please inform us if you’ll be disappearing for a while so we don’t get to worry something could’ve happened to you. Take great care…❤

  10. Thank you Dr Berg. I’ve been on ketogenic diet lost 63 lbs but in the last 9 mos I started to lose my regimen of IF and now I’ve gained back 3 “ in waist line 15 lbs weight gain and glucose reads 129-130 😫this video is my incentive to get back on track! Gave me a new understanding as to what I did wrong and how to get back on track. I’ve been eating clean foods but I need to stick to IF instead of eating bc I have food ……this thinking is ruining my brain n overall function. I’m getting more sick with colds than before. Thank you for this BEST VIDEO EVER! 😊

  11. Love your channel Dr. Berg. I see so many videos on fatty liver and insulin resistance in relation to tyoe 2 diabetes. Can you make a video on type 1? Nobody ever talks about type 1 diabetes in depth we are here too lol.

  12. Thank you, Dr Berg. I really have benefited from your videos. Type 2 diabetic and I began a Keto diet at the beginning of the year and 2 months ago was in the ICU with euglycemic ketoacidosis for 3 days. The hospital doctor attributed it to the keto diet and Farxiga medicine I was taking at the time. I know that this is a rare case, but diabetics need to be sure to understand and discuss their meds when adopting a keto lifestyle. Thanks again for all you do.

    • Definitely this! I went into DKA as a type 2 who was taking invokamet and had just started eating low carb – that’s the problem when doctors don’t actually think you are going to start eating right and doing what you need to! It was very scary and though I no longer take that medicine, it always makes me nervous!

    • @Katie Sorry to hear that you also had this issue with drug interaction DKA. I had told my doctor that I was following a keto diet, but was never consulted on the potential danger of this combination. I have researched and learned a lot about the problem as I recovered from this and really wanted to let others know.

  13. After being diagnosed with diabetes 7 years ago I thought it was my “slow “ death sentence. After 4 months of low carb diet and intermittent fasting (8/16) my a1c went down from 7.8 to 5.9 and from “popping “ 4 meds a day to… zero. I know it’s just beginning of my “killing diabetes “ journey but I feel like I just got parole. Now I can see diabetes it’s “beatable “ deceased.. thanks to people like Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung

  14. I *bookmarked this video* because it is so powerful and I’ll want to share it with others. Despite being _back on sugar_ since the holidays, I do appreciate your constant guidance knowing that I’ll come around again to being off sugar.

  15. I have been diagnosed with fatty liver and watched all your videos. I have been doing low-carb and eating the 7 foods good for the liver from your video. But, I have horrible insulin resistance symptoms – extreme tiredness before and after eating, lousy muscle recovery, headaches, and bloating. I have been doing right for my body for over two weeks but have not seen any improvement. I will keep at it until I see positive results. Thank you Dr. Berg for all that you do!!

  16. Testament to my type 2 diagnosis, Fixed my blood sugars in 12 weeks …keto ..Milk thistle …Tudca…apple cider vinegar …Cleaned my liver cleaned the pancreas and ducts…dropped my Cholesterol from 5.9 to 0.9…Bless you Sir!

  17. Legitimately saved my life!
I had a glucose lvl of 106 couple months ago and even though my doctor was not worried, I would see all the symptoms of something being terribly wrong (very sleepy after eating, brain fog, pain in feet, etc.).
After stumbling upon your channel a while ago and applying the knowledge I was able to turn my life around! Looking forward to apply it further and see where it gets me, so I’m definitely looking forward to my next blood test.
Thank you doctor & god bless you!

  18. Love ya Dr. Berg. I’ve seen over 200 doctors and you are one of 4 that were actually worthy of the title and respect. Thank you for caring about us.
