are there studies if and how NAC influences the Taurine level?
They might have synergistic effects on antioxidant effects

I just love how everything they test increased the life span of mice by whatever %. So Taurine, NMN, rapamycin, metformin, melatonin, glycine, fasting, – by now mice should be living until 20 years old if all of these increase their lifespan 😂
Lmao, unfortunately they dont do all those interventions at once. That’s how they know that a partivular supplement is what gives the results
maybe the mice live longer just because they are getting something extra over their base diet…..
They do need to start doing more studies with compound combinations. But that obviously wouldn’t work the way you described it as there is the law of diminishing returns. If a certain compound provides a 5% increase in lifespan and the second one provides 3% increase it doesn’t mean the combination will provide 8% increase (although maybe some particular combinations will even provide a greater increase as they may have a synergistic effect with each other). But I get what you mean
@Tom Lion This 100%. Diminishing returns are real in longevity. Alot of things overlap. Once you’re healthy and do the basics right: sleep, fasting, exercise, stress management and diet. A pill is not going to magically make a big difference. It’s actually the people who dont do the basics at all have the most benefits from supplements.

@Siim Land Around exercise? I fear that it could have negative effects on muscle growth since it’s a strong antioxidant and antioxidants can reduce the effect of workouts in regard to muscle growth. What are your thoughts about this?

I already take 500-1500mg of taurine almost everyday with my protein and creatine smoothie. There are a lot of benefits from it. Also a lot of people today are quite deficient in it

I’ve been taking this for decades. It really helps maintain eyesight as you get older. It also helped keep my elderly mum’s blood pressure down.
Been taking taurine for about a year now
I tried 6g Taurine last summer in the midst of cardio training season (biking mostly) and it’s satiety effect was phenomenal. I lost 16kg in a few mo with little extra effort (BMI 29->23. Maybe something to do with already being quite insulin sensitive? Taurine may have insulin-like effects in the brain (in mice at least).
I take a taurine supplement everyday. It’s called beef.

Is the taurine overdose harmful for kidneys, is 6-8 g per day too much?
I saw a 2019 report that it is fine up to 3g a day. 6-8g a day sounds a bit on the high side.
