Today I want to answer some important questions about probiotics.

Probiotics are microbes. Microbes are a crucial part of our world. They convert carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur into forms that living things can use.

We have ten times more microbes living on and inside our bodies than we have cells.

Microbes have many functions and help us in various ways, including:
• Helping to make nutrients available
• Providing immune protection
• Protecting against pathogens
• Supporting detoxification
• Improving digestion
• Helping to make vitamins

Strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach can kill a good portion of microbes. Bile salts also affect the microbiome. But, some microbes are resilient and can even live without oxygen.

How to support the survival of probiotics in the stomach:
1. Take a probiotic supplement or consume probiotic foods at the end of your meal
2. Consume probiotics earlier in the day
3. If fasting, drink more water with your probiotics
4. Don’t take probiotics with lemon water or apple cider vinegar water
5. Consume raw plants grown in soil

  1. Make kimchee and kraut a part of your weekly diet. You don’t have to worry about it. I eat kimchee at least three times per week.

  2. On the package it says to take a probiotic 30 mins after eating ,depending on what you have eaten. Its worked well.TY Dr Berg.

  3. For your fruits and vegetable, is it best to buy them at a farmers market instead of the stores so maybe they all grow from the ground

  4. Good morning Dr Berg
. Great advice, very clear and concise.Thank you so much for always useful topic❤🙏👍

  5. Sour pickles, which are rich sources of probiotics as long as they ferment naturally that is using salt and water and not adding any kind of vinegar in the fermentation.

  6. Thank you Dr. Berg ❤ sending this to my family. As always, great video and information, for all of us to stay healthy.

  7. Seed brand probiotic is a capsule within a capsule, the outer capsule being a prebiotic. It’s supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, so I take it right when I wake up.

  8. Superb video brother!
Thanks again to you and your health family for all you do!
    Peace love and blessings 😊

  9. Thank you Dr Berg for this timely video!
I have been trying to figure out exactly when to have my chia pudding from home made kefer (with Allulose and vanilla for taste). I continuously monitor my glucose (Libre 3) and measure uric acid (repeated finger sticks on blood UA meter), and urine strip PH. Breakfast is my main meal so first time today taking chia-kefer pudding first with meal. I established my baseline response data and repeat identical meal so I can experimentally change one food or supplement item each day to help decide the delta responses due to the changed food or supplement: in this case the chia- kefer pudding consumption time. I understand keto diet tends to slight acidosis (ref: Dr Phinney & Volek): do you have any recommendations in this regard including age (seniors vs others)?
My go to reference regarding Uric Acid is Dr Perlmutter; however, I cannot yet increase carbs much without spiking glucose (i.e. add 16 cherries). Thanks again!

    • Same here! I put ground flaxseeds and fennel seeds in my homemade kefir every morning and I have labored over when the best time to drink it is.

  10. Good morning Dr Berg. I wanted to know if it’s okay to take apple cider vinegar every day? Is it bad for your stomach?

  11. In the words of Mr John Kempf of Advancing Eco Agriculture, “Biology is the trump card!” Yep, microbial communities and metabolites are the basis for ALL healthy life! Thanks Dr Berg…. shared! ✅

  12. Thank you Dr. Berg ❤ Yesterday I listened to your Playlist on YouTube regarding gallbladder. I had mine removed due to sludge and thick duct. Thank you pointing out how important it is to take bile salts. ❤

  13. I ordered your probiotics, Dr. Berg and taking them for about 20 days and I take them after my first meal of the day and they work like magic✅🎯💯

Before my first meal of the day, I drink ACV in water with fresh lemon about 12 ounces water to 2 tablespoons ACV and one fresh squeezed lemon cut in half….

Then have my keto meal around noon. I always skip breakfast (never been a breakfast person )take my probiotic and most of my vitamins after my first meal of the day, & seems to work very well.

God bless your Dr. Berg, you’ve changed my life in the most amazing positive ways !

  14. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I’ve always taken my probiotic in the morning before I eat anything thinking this is the “rule”. I will start taking after my main meal in my day which hopefully will make a difference.

  15. That got me thinking.
If your stomach PH is lower than what it should be, then reason would dictate that your stomach then produce more stomach acid to break down the food. More stomach acid ends up sitting in the stomach longer, even if it’s empty. That would also attribute to acid reflux.

It seems to fit in with my years long battle with acid reflux. I have been off and on protein pump inhibiters for years, and often times it would only work in stopping the symptoms for a couple of weeks, but then not only do they stop working, but the acid reflux becomes worse than before.

I can tell you this. It has been 3 days since I’ve been on the keto diet and I fasted for a day prior. No sugars, sodas, carbs or starchy vegetables. After that time, my acid reflux has gone from unbearable to barely noticeable. There is still a slight burn in the morning but it goes away after a drink of water for the rest of the day. Now that’s results.
