The fitness industry is rife with misinformation.

Myth #1: Building muscle is impossible with intermittent fasting. False! Intermittent fasting can effectively support muscle growth as long as you consume adequate protein throughout the day. Aim for around 0.7 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.

Myth #2: Muscle growth relies solely on heavy weights. Another falsehood! The key determinant for muscle growth is mechanical tension. Your body does not differentiate between heavy and light weights but responds to the level of mechanical tension applied.

Achieving mechanical tension is possible with both lighter and heavier weights. With heavier weights, fewer reps may be required, while lighter weights might demand more reps to generate the desired tension.

The important takeaway is that muscle growth can be achieved through various training approaches, irrespective of the weight load.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

    • @Jim G thanks, that’s what I was thinking. I do a lot better with three days straight fasting then one meal a day

    • @Jim G so I should probably wait to fast until my muscles have recovered from being sore from the heavy work out I had the other day?

    • @Hideous Sails In the grand scheme of things if you’re going to incorporate occasional 3 day fasts into your lifestyle for the long term, as well as working out I’m not sure it makes a huge difference.

    • Yes. You can. There are many studied done on this. The only way your body starts eating muscle is if it’s depleted fat stores. Most people aren’t near 5-10% body fat. In fact studies show that prolonged fasting 3-5 boosts Human growth hormone which preserves muscle. The science behind this is in times to scarcity your body think you need to beginning hunting so it begins to make ketones for energy from your fat and preserves muscle.
If you want I’ll link the studies for you to read.
Anyways. No yoh wont loose muscle fasting for 3 days even if you did many back to back. I’d recommend on your eating days you do a heavy work out and rest on fasting days and repeat.
Of course I’m not a doctor so consult your physician
