  1. A slow metabolism also means lower energy production, more efficient but slower burning.
Optimal thyroid + adequate cortisol = Good metabolism, healthy appetite, high energy

  2. You might have survived in a Japanese POW camp in WW2 with a slow metabolism, did any of you see the movie Bridge on the river Kwai? All the POW’s looked starved emancipated

    • Calorie deficit. A deficit of 3500 calories is 1 pound of fat. So a deficit of 500 calories per day, either via food or exercise will mean you lose a pound per week. 20 weeks of focus and you’re good! All the best! 👍

    • Yes you could try calorie deficit. Pretty good chance it will do nothing for you. You’re watching Dr. Berg now watch his videos on Keto. I took off 60lbs in less than a year and I tried for 10 years with calorie deficit.

    • I had the same problem for many years. In the end the only thing that worked for me was finding a way to live a low stress life and practicing extended fasting once a week for 3 days of water only. Hope this helps.

    • Getting into full Ketosis the first time was hard, used urine-strips to test. Now it is so easy. First get the body used to burning fat, without worrying about calories! Then switch to low calorie (or my case – no calories – I actually ‘water only’ fast for 2 weeks a few times a year)

  3. Damn, I never thought about this way. I always thought slow metabolism is bad. Cause can’t lose weight. Maybe I have think like this. I have efficient system. 90mpg system 😅

  4. Oh thank you for this. I thought I was weird.
I can’t believe how little I eat. The less I eat the more energy I have, and never sick. Slow metabolism is suppose to mean cold feet in bed and bundled up clothing in winter. I’m the guy in the tee shirt! I thought I was weird, but now I know I’m “efficient .“ I’m 77.

  5. I think my metabolism is high i eat enough food everyday and I dont gane much weight I have been small all my life 98pounds to 101 and 102 that’s it my daughter is bigger than i am

  6. I think I have both a slow and fast metabolism. Cause I can go a long time without eating, but I also can’t gain weight.

  7. I am the person with this kind of metabolism.
Thank you Dr .Eric for such valuable information.Lots of prayers for you.

  8. Oh dear, my metabolism as displayed by my scale app is almost off the scale high: 1600 in whatever units that may be.

Is that bad? And if so, how to reduce it?

  9. Oh thanks a lot doc for breaking the falsely assumed myth. From all the comments, you can clearly see .. how we all , the general public has perceived this. So, from what you are saying.. it’s still okay is it? So.., how can you differentiate if this slow metabolism is good or bad.., if it’s due to unhealthy eating.., lifestyle.., bad gut or hormonal effects like thyroid or if it’s on and due to energy saving mode? Pls.., if you can through some light on that also..We can be alert.. Thank you so so much..👍👍🙏🙏doc as always

  10. How incredibly interesting! It is thrilling how much I have learned from you Dr. Berg! My life is better and healthier and more peace of mind with you in it. God bless you and thank you thank you thank you you’re the best!! Truth 💖😍🌟💪🏼💃🏻🙏🏼💖🥰
