Today, I’m going to tell you the truth about sugar and the effects of sugar.

Doctors and large agencies like the Sugar Association have recently denied that sugar consumption could be dangerous for your health or that it could have any implications for your cardiovascular system. A similar tactic has been used by tobacco companies before they admitted that cigarettes were deadly.

The average person consumes 23 teaspoons of sugar daily, but could they also be consuming hidden sugars?

Hidden sugars are found in products that claim to contain zero sugars. Many ultra-processed foods, such as chips, Cheez-Its, and Goldfish, contain no sugar but are full of starches. Starches have a higher glycemic index than sugar, so they can cause a more significant blood sugar spike.

Heavily processed starches are not like the starch you’d find in a potato or rice. Starches like maltodextrin, modified food starch, or modified corn starch can harm your blood sugar and health. If you include starch in a person’s daily sugar consumption, the average person consumes around 75 teaspoons of sugar each day!

High-sugar diets cause you to deplete your nutrient stores until they are gone. Sugar also causes oxidative damage without the antioxidants to protect you, ultimately leading to chronic conditions, including diabetes, Alzheimer’s, inflammation, and skin problems.

Processed foods are often fortified because they are so devoid of nutrients. Synthetic vitamins sprayed onto processed foods are not an alternative to whole foods!

Stop eating sugar and eliminate starches from your diet. This can reverse the cycle of disease, lower blood sugar, and reverse a fatty liver. Your body will also be able to burn its own fat through ketosis. Ketones are a much better fuel for the heart than glucose.

  1. i used to work in a lab and some of those fake sugars i wont say the name but have sugar within those sweetners its just not detectable to be put on a nutritional label.

  2. If it comes in a box….if it comes off a shelf in an aisle in the middle of the store….don’t eat it.

  3. As I walk thru the bakery section in Publix, a fresh batch of cupcakes are being prepped for food sampling. It’s a new, yet visually tasting cupcake with red velvet breading. As I scurry towards the mall table to grab my treat of delight Dr Berg appears out of nowhere “DON’T EAT THAT”. Kills the desire in me instantly.

    • I had been eating dessert EVERY night until I discovered how truly toxic sugar is to your body. Now I’m actually turned off to it!

    • @@galaxyglitterlatte4664 I’m 64 and grew up in a home where we had dessert every night. Mostly homemade stuff. I continued on with the tradition until just over a year ago . I even ate Honey Nut Cherrios as a dessert about 4 servings worth at a time. Today I only treat myself to some peanut butter cups on the weekend. Being 64 5’10 173 and still pumping iron and losing 30 pounds . I’m happy where I’m at and I maintain my weight now. But I’ll be honest, my little weekend treat actually probably helps with going back to my old ways.

    • @@PeterRabbitWhatsup As you mentioned that every night you consumed sugar, do you think that quitting now can still reverse the damage you done to your body all these years?

  4. They know very well what they’re doing and we know what it’s all about. Love your honesty and courage. Thank you, Dr Berg 🙏🏻

  5. Twackers’ teeth 👀 can also be caused by frequent consumption of sugary drinks, junk food, and other toxins. Y’all stay healthy out there!

  6. Thank you Doctor! I been drinking nothing but water since May 11th of 2024 and I feel like if I’m back to my teen age energy levels. I’m 29 5’6″ and 3 months ago I was right at 231lb. I’m currently at 202lb and still dropping to my goal. This includes Gym (Cardio+Weights)+diet+water only. I also got YOUR vitamin D pill. 3 months ago I had blood work results and I was extremely low on Vitamin D. At the end of this month I’m going back to test myself again and check my Vitamin D. Thanks for all your videos and dedication to help us!

    • @user-mx5vr5ce7m  I never said I was fasting. I eat normal and I Don’t count calories. I just eat healthier foods. I’m not in a STRICT diet. I still eat red meat, turkey, brown rice, chicken, eggs, protein shakes etc. 5am a protein shake.. 9am a healthy snack.. 12pm my heavy lunch meal.. 3pm healthy small snack.. 6pm Gym.. then after gym before bedtime my 2nd protein shake. (Isolated). So 30lbs AND NOT EVEN STARVING myself to death I think it’s a good number. 30 pounds sound better than 0 pounds

    • @@jose38706 Skip the protein shakes, trust me when I say you truly don’t need them. Eat more meat if you think you don’t eat enough protein but you likely do. Protein powder is low quality protein, you dont want and need it.

  7. It’s not just baked goods, I thought that baked beans ‘with no added sugar’ would be healthier, but then I read the label which sais that afer the beans, tomatoes and water the next biggest ingredient was ‘modified cornstarch’.

    • Worst part is, they it doesn’t count as carbs under FDA law because it’s primarily used as a ‘bulking’ or ‘processing’ agent, not a flavor enhancer.
It’s like… ruling involuntary manslaughter that killed hundreds technically isn’t a crime because it is not ‘murder’.

  8. Love the sarcasm meter, Dr Berg! Spot on content! Thanks for all your amazing work! ❤👍🏻

  9. Gaslighting is a favourite tactic used by them. They don’t want the masses aware but dumb and easy to manipulate. Thanks for spreading awareness, Dr Berg 👍🏻❤

  10. What is the point of being healthy when you cannot enjoy yourself?
What is the point of enjoying yourself if you are obese, have low energy, have depression and anxiety, being tired, have a variety of metabolic illness, high blood pressure, diabetic neuropathy, kidney failure… ?

    • Food isn’t everything. Some days, I don’t even eat.
To me, enjoying myself is feeling good! Only possible by being in good health.

    • These health issues kurtbecker has mentioned often arise in people whose diets are high in starches, sugars and vegetable seed oils. They don’t always arise in their 20s and 30s but they usually do by the time they reach middle age.

Actually Dr Rob Lustig (specializing in pediatric metabolic disease) in his book Metabolical describes 4 year old toddlers on the liver transplant list. It is suspected, that these children were raised on sugary sodas instead of milk.
It all starts with a fatty liver and you can get that at any age. Trans-Fat is the worst, because it cannot be metabolized in the human body. Next worst are Fructose and Alcohol… again the body cannot metabolize any of it. The liver has to convert it to something else first then dispose of it like it were a poison, which it is. When children are given sugar, it is more or less the same thing (what the liver concerns) as giving them alcohol, because the liver treats it in a similar fashion.

  11. I’m 73 and I swear there used to be a law titled as “Truth in Advertising,” but it doesn’t seem to be enforced at all these days, and it now also seems as if the FDA grants approvals based on being bribed rather than testing before approving a food or drug for the market !

  12. I haven’t bought anything in a package in over a year and half. Meat, vegetables, coffee🙄, dairy, and fasting Is my life. It has been a fascinating journey experiencing the constant changes in my body. If I get discouraged (rare) I remind myself, I punished my body for years forcing it to process junk. The least I can do is be patient while it struggles to right itself. Fascinating process!
Weight loss: I dumped about 50lbs in the beginning (6mo) then the plateau. But, what I realized is while I’m not losing much weight (if any) since then. The fat seemed to be shifting from life long fatty areas (knees, thighs) to my stomach area. It’s as though my body is placing the fat in this area to process it out permanently. I don’t know but it’s fascinating and I’m loving this journey.❤
