Lol I knew about the gift cards. Me and my husband are empty nestors. So it really doesn’t help us to have a Costco membership because we don’t go that often. So we buy ourselves gift cards and then we go in once a year 🤣🤣
you need a membership card or be with someone that has a membership card to enter the store though!!
At my Costco, you don’t but I did see they are implementing the scanners now!

The only thing I knew is the green tag for organics, the other things I had 0 clue ! Now I know why some times items are cheaper at some stores than others !
You don’t need a membership card to go to the food court as well.
Just enter in through the exit, not the entrance, just go to the food court and show your receipt when you leave.
At our Costco here in LA you need to have the membership card in order to order your food at the food court. So maybe not all Costco’s have the same policy???

You have to have a membership card to purchase food items from the food court. (My daughter is a Costco store manager in Washington, she’s on maternity leave atm )… years ago they were lax about it, but as of 4 years ago…. All Costco’s should be requiring a membership card to enter the store to purchase food court items.

We don’t have green tags at our store. But some of the other tips were new to me.
another cost saving hack: if you are looking for plan b generic.. costco has them for about $6 each! they are called New Day.. same active ingredient. compared to plan b which can cost $50+ at any other drugstore !!
btw every time i go to pharmacy they do ask to scan my membership card.
Those gift card hacks and food court hacks don’t work everywhere. I’ve seen people having to walk out because they tried to use the gift card without membership. Could be a local state law issue. I saw a story on TV about a bunch of office workers walking across street to eat at the outside Costco. They jammed up the lines. So the manager started checking cards and they went away.

They’re using digital ID at the entrances, and we now have to show our membership cards to enter the store.
👂🏼👂🏼👂🏼 I want me a Costco card but I have Sam’s. And the rewards at Sam’s pays off the renewal for me every year.
I knew pretty much all of these. I have seen items w/the asterisk return tho so I always take that tip with a grain of salt. The sprouted pumpkin seeds for instance, in my store were discontinued, marked with the asterisk and I was disappointed that they were letting them go. Months later they returned and they’re there now..all the time. Lol.
How do you get in with a gift card? They make you show your membership card ??
I talked to the manager at my MN Costco and they said starting soon you will need a membership to shop at the store even with a gift card. They are cracking down on non member purchases. Also if you bring someone to Costco they will not be able to use their own credit card for payment. The member will have to pay for the products. I’m not sure how they will manage that part.
This is true most stores require you to scan the membership for entry
