Today, we’re going to talk about fish oil benefits and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids. Both cod liver oil and fish oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, with the addition of vitamin A and vitamin D in cod liver oil.

Around 25% of the fat in your brain is the omega-3 fatty acid, DHA. Most of this fat is in the frontal cortex, which supports memory, focus, concentration, and attention. DHA supports the integrity of the membranes around the neurons and supports the retina. It also protects against inflammation, UV radiation, and macular degeneration.

Omega-3 fatty acids keep skin smooth and protect against acne, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, red skin, and ultraviolet light. They can also help remineralize bone, decrease the risk of osteoporosis, and improve arthritis and joint inflammation.

Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following:
•Supports liver health
•Helps regulate blood sugar
•Helps reverse insulin resistance
•Supports inside of the arteries
•Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies
•Supports fertility
•Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise

Avoid choosing fish oil based on price alone. Some fish oils are poor quality and may be rancid or oxidized. Know the source of your fish oil to avoid getting a product contaminated with heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, or mercury.

Fish oil and cod liver oil may taste like fish, but they shouldn’t have a rancid taste. To minimize the taste, try looking for supplements in pearl form.

Omega-3 foods include fatty fish such as wild-caught salmon, herring, mackerel, and sardines. Shellfish and grass-fed dairy products also contain omega-3 fatty acids.

  1. Please change the title.
At no point do you speak of “your experience” by itself, but of how Omega 3 works.
What’s more so is that you do a really good job of describing it, so why the misleading title?

    • He has likely been taking it for years, and if you look at him now vs 2-3yrs ago you should be able to see the change in his health. He looks 10yrs younger now than a few years ago. If you cannot see it your diet is likely lacking in DHA

    • @@WisconsinEric I am middle-aged..I believe that looking well and being healthy it is up to multiple factors..lifestyle, food, exercise, supplements.. I take Omega3, D , C and collagen supllements , daily. I exercise, lift weighting..3 times a week, walk, sleep as much as I can. I do not want my life to be a permanent diet, but, the metabolism slowed down, muscle mass is decreasing, so , must pay attention to what you eat and have a form of exercise. We will show when we are old the care we had and have for our bodies

    • @@tdhtran Watch the rest of his videos, he shares the blueprint. I have taken Cod Liver oil by the spoonful for nearly a Decade. 45yrs old with the hairline of a 19yr old, and a lean 172lbs at 6’2″

  2. Disappointed, I thought you were going to show ” what happened after 30 days of YOU taking fish oil” As the title states. Possibly labs/ other things. Please change your title. I doubt you were trying to be misleading. But it is confusing.

    • True, no magic pill, probably without blood tests before and after, you may see skin and hair improvements. I know when my dogs eat dog food better quality than cheapest kibble that o noticed healthier skin fur coat within 4 weeks or so. I just started adding a dog supplement of salmon oil to their kibble, $20 for set of 2 bottles at sams club

    • @@elainebolling505Why not also just keep them on the better quality dog food? It will save on vet bills. 😊

  3. A fish oil with DPA (docosapentaenoic acid), the third most prevalent omega-3 fatty acid, is a fish oil with integrity! DPA omega-3 plays an important role in the gut and microbiome. Thanks a bunch! 🙂 Have a great day, y’all!

    • ?? He’s educating us on our health & the thumbnail is upsetting you this much? I think it gets the point across that he will give us surprising health benefits & personally think it would make people more interested?

    • Stop it there’s nothing wrong with the thumbnail. It’s fun actually. Like are you really complaining about a thumbnail on a video? You need hobbies. 😂

  4. What happened after 30 days? What oceans are safe? Which brands don’t process in China? What to look for on the label? These are the questions that really need to be answered. Anyone can Google the benefits of fish oil and cod liver oil.

    • 1. What Oceans Are Safe Sources for Cod Liver Oil?

Cod liver oil typically comes from cod caught in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around the North Atlantic region, including the waters of Norway, Iceland, and Greenland. These areas are known for their cold, clean waters, which are ideal for sourcing high-quality cod liver oil. The safest sources generally come from:

      • Norwegian Waters: Renowned for their strict environmental regulations and sustainable fishing practices.
      • Icelandic Waters: Known for pristine, cold waters with minimal pollution.
      • Alaskan Waters: Cod from the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska are also considered safe due to sustainable fishing practices and clean waters.

      2. What Brands Are Processed in the USA and Not in China?

When looking for cod liver oil brands processed in the USA, it’s essential to choose those that explicitly state their country of processing on the label or website. Some brands that are known for processing their products in the USA or Europe, rather than China, include:

      • Carlson Labs: Often cited as a high-quality brand, with products processed in Norway and the USA.
      • Nordic Naturals: This brand sources its fish oil from Norwegian waters and processes it in Norway, though they have some processing facilities in the USA.
      • Green Pasture: Their cod liver oil is fermented and processed in the USA.

      3. What to Look for on the Label?

When selecting cod liver oil, here are key things to look for on the label:

      • Source of the Cod: Ensure the label specifies the origin of the cod, such as “Norwegian cod” or “Icelandic cod.”
      • Purity and Testing: Look for certifications like IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) or third-party testing for heavy metals, PCBs, and other contaminants.
      • Processing Method: Cold-pressed or fermented oils are preferred as they retain more nutrients.
      • EPA and DHA Content: These are the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, and higher levels indicate a more potent product.
      • Vitamin A and D Content: Cod liver oil is naturally rich in these vitamins. Check the levels to ensure they meet your nutritional needs without exceeding safe limits.
      • Additives and Flavorings: Choose products with minimal additives and natural flavorings if possible.

      4. What Happens After 30 Days of Consuming Fish Oil and Cod Liver Oil?

After 30 days of consistent consumption, you might experience several potential benefits, though individual results can vary:

      • Improved Heart Health: Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil can help lower triglycerides, reduce blood pressure slightly, and improve overall cardiovascular health.
      • Enhanced Brain Function: Omega-3s are vital for brain health, potentially leading to improved cognitive function, memory, and mood stability.
      • Reduced Inflammation: Cod liver oil’s anti-inflammatory properties can reduce joint pain and stiffness, particularly in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.
      • Better Vision: The high vitamin A content in cod liver oil supports eye health and may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
      • Stronger Immune System: Vitamin D in cod liver oil can boost immune function, helping your body fend off illnesses more effectively.
      • Skin Health: Cod liver oil may improve skin hydration and reduce symptoms of eczema and acne.

However, it’s important to monitor for any adverse effects, such as gastrointestinal discomfort, an unpleasant aftertaste, or potential overdosing on vitamins A and D if consumed in excess. Consulting with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen is advisable to ensure it’s appropriate for your specific health needs.

  5. As someone who can’t go anywhere without epi pens l found that taking 1,200mg concentrated omega-3 really helped me. I was lucky enough to have found one with added natural orange flavor. I have been taking it for 3 years now. Thank you Dr. Berg for all the new things I’ve learned from this post.

    • @@zakariaidrissi7035 Yes of course. It’s Healthy Options Molecularly Distilled Concentrated Omega-3.

    • I found it online but it comes from the Philippines. So how can I buy it, when the currency is Philippino ? I don’t think the website is allowing me to purchase it. I’m in the USA.

  6. Title of video should be “ I’m not gonna tell you what happened, after I took fish oil for 30 days” lol🤷🏻‍♂️

    • What’s up with all these people appeared out of nowhere pointing out Berg’s mistake. It’s not even serious and you’re all pointing out that one mistake, if he would’ve talked about the benefits that fish oil has given him, you’d still have to try it yourself, not every human body is the same and it’s not fair to hate on Berg for that reason honestly.

    • He didn’t actually took it for a month that’s why. Lol
And Dr bergs is a promoter for the big americano pharmaceutical company which are anti Chinese products. DR SINOPHOBIC.

    • I may be terrible wrong, but isn’t Dr. Berg a doctor of chiropractor not a M.D. regardless I watch him as often as I can. 😊

  7. I take Wild Pacific Salmon Oil and Wild Norwegian Cod Liver Oil for many years. Both oils are rich in Omega 3. These oils have tremendously improved my vision, cardiovascular and cognitive function. I had arthritis on the back of my neck which caused headaches. These oils got rid of the inflammation and no more pain or headaches for several years now.

  8. Dr. Berg, I totally respect you as a medical doctor and I truly enjoy your videos… but the title of this video is indeed misleading (many complaints below). I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and perhaps it was your staff who came up with this title as a click bait and not created by you directly. The subject matter of Omega-3 fatty acids is incredibly important and I am reminded once again to take them more regularly. In my book, you’re all good… but you really should change the title to reflect the actual message of this video, cuz I’m curious just like everyone else as to what happened after 30 days of taking Omega-3 fish oil. Keep up the great work, doc! 🙂 cheers!

  9. Dr. Berg doesn’t explain on camera HIS experience, but if you drop down the video description, he posted a list of what happens to the body after 30 days on Omega-3s. Just trying to be helpful.

    • Well duh. That’s the whole point of watching the video. Only he was supposed to tell us how it helped him personally.

    • @@stephencook7337 i think the staff are the ones who are in charge of puting the title so they might’ve put the wrong title, not dr. Berg. And i don’t think berg would be constantly seeing his videos titles. Anyway, i don’t believe it’s a good reason to be hating on Dr. Berg. As i’ve seen a lot of people doing that in the comment section, you’d still have to try taking cod liver oil or fish oil yourself, every person is in a different situation and if you think that taking those would be the same as the benefits it supposedly gave dr. Berg, you’re wrong.

    • @@jls5480 not a valid reason to unsuscribe. I’m sure you’re believing this whole vegan agenda that has been trying to censor dr. Berg’s content for stupid reasons.

      Or you’re just a bot. 🤣

  10. I’ve stopped taking Fish Oil from supplements because of the new studies that show that fish oils are very sensitive to oxidization (not being stored in low temperatures can cause this as well as overtime oxidization and others) and when this oils oxidize they release harmful components that have been shown to have negative impact on our body and health like bad skin elasticity and others. Instead I just eat fresh salmon or fish once in a while, and I have been adding flax seeds to my diet to get Omegas ever since, I just add a daily tbsp of blended flax seed mixed with some water and it works great!, I’ve been giving this mix to my mom and it has greatly relieved her Peripheral Neuropathy, I just think this is worth mentioning and useful information to look at. (BTW I threw away my vitamin A and Beta-carotene supplement pills and just bought some carrots lol, sometimes natural sources are just the best option)
