Type-2 diabetes, heart attack, stroke, dementia, cancer… the incidences of these and more diseases have been soaring in recent decades. Why? Because our diet is chock-full of sugars, refined carbohydrates, seed oils and ultraprocessed foods. Australian of the Year 2020 Dr James Muecke AM poses real food solutions to our epidemic of dietary ill-health, in a short video narrated by acclaimed actress Heather Mitchell AM.

At my local pool, the children are obese (except for those doing squad training). The young ones are almost mute (pre-verbal), and running wild, while the oveweight parents look on helplessly. Then the parents “treat” the kiddies to potato chips and a soft drink. Back in the day, there might be one obese child in the whole year. Now it’s almost all of them. Their chubby little faces bursting out of their skin. I could weep.
Regenerative Ruminant Revolution.
7 days without beef makes one weak.
Get to know a grazier today.
Eat meat, got it.
Nice one sir.
Interesting, how official adds insist on avoidance of things which contain sugars or are highly processed foods which we all already know about, and somehow have a problem with mentioning carbs!
Your comment about 100, 000 Australians per year being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes is well off the mark i suspect. That is not being derogatory to what you stated, they are probably official stats, in my opinion there are many more out there with Diabetes that are going undiagnosed. And another new player on the scene is Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, which virtually did not exist 30 years ago. Obesity, Diabetes and NAFLD will break our health system which is already crumbling from the amount of people with metabolic disease.
What….a table full of Fructose is the fix, just because it won’t show up in BG doesn’t mean it isn’t destroying you.
fructose is really toxic for the liver, however if people ate more fruit instead of sweets there would be improvements.
apples and watermelon, are you serious?
“Nutritionists say watermelon is low in calories and sugar and chock-full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it a great addition to a healthy diet.”
“Apples are naturally high in fibre, low on the glycaemic index and rich in protective plant compounds. Eating apples regularly will have a host of health benefits,”

The rest of the world will..hopefully..follow your excellent example. 👏👏👏👏👏
1:31 … hmm… 🤔 trying to find stuff in there that’s not veg or fruit is a bit like “Where’s Waldo?”
An Apple can have as much nutrition as a can of Coke!
“Health food” at 1:30 ? Seriously?
EXACTLY my thoughts – was it an advert for the vegan diet?
When will government publish dietary recommendations that promote health instead of big food and pharma interests?
It was going so well until you showed a table overflowing with fruit and starches – and then glaringly left out any mention of eating meat and saturated fats.
This was just as easily a glossy advert for the vegan diet – no gold star for you.
Excellent message. This should be out on mainstream TV too. 👏🇦🇺
I expected from Low Carb Down Under to show something better than a ‘vegetarian/vegan’ table as the healthier option… thumb down for this one 👎
great production!
“food-like substances”
🤪
At least someone tells the truth…
Where’s the meat, fish and eggs???
The food pyramid and seed oils are horrendous.
Carnivore diet is way to go
After 60 years of demonizing butter, meat, eggs, the sun itself, and even our own instincts and senses, this is what has happened.
