Simple choices could be the reason why you’re not healthy. These unhealthy habits can be especially problematic if you’re over 50.

1. Don’t take health advice from inexperienced people.
2. Don’t be too quick to accept a diagnosis.
3. Avoid solutions that create more problems.
4. Avoid excessive stress.

The most important nutrient for people over 50 is vitamin D. Vitamin D influences 10% of your genes. You need at least 10,000 IU of vitamin D or more to produce a therapeutic effect. Doctors worldwide are using vitamin D3 for many health concerns, including autoimmune diseases, eye problems, and fibroids.

Magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D work together in a synergistic relationship. Magnesium is vital for heart health and energy. Avoid calcium and iron supplements as you age. It’s very difficult to rid the body of excess iron.

You don’t need to avoid salt! Opt for sea salt and make sure you’re getting plenty of potassium. Sodium deficiency can cause increased cortisol levels, which can interfere with sleep.

Cholesterol is an essential building block of sex hormones, so you must get enough after menopause. Cholesterol is essential for our brain, bile salts, and other hormones. Butter, eggs, dairy, and shellfish are the best dietary sources of cholesterol.

Focus on removing carbs from the diet and prioritizing quality protein. Grass-fed beef or lamb is the best source of protein.

Frequent eating stimulates insulin, which is the root cause of many chronic illnesses, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and a fatty liver.

Autoimmune diseases are related to low vitamin D and the microbes, viruses, and other pathogens that downgrade the vitamin D receptor. After severe stress or shock, your immune system becomes suppressed, leaving you vulnerable to autoimmune disease.

It’s vital to understand the importance of the microbiome as an organ, especially when you’re over 50. When you take an antibiotic, your microbes don’t always return. Gut health supports immune function, neurotransmitter production, mood, cognitive function, digestion, nutrient production, sleep, and even protects us against cancer.

  1. If youtube told me I can subscribe to only one channel, this would be it without any hesitation. Thank you Dr.Berg!

  2. I voted for Dr. Berg as an RFK MAHA consultant group. Dr. Berg helps people hear what their doctor WILL NOT tell them.

  3. I had a stressful job. I was driving 3 hours a day. I was my husband’s caretaker, too. It caught up with me and i developed diverticulitis, spondylitis, vertigo. I landed in the hospital. It took a lot of life changes and a couple of years to detox. Thank you for teaching me what my Dr wouldn’t. Your videos last longer than my dr visits.

    • @@zzizahacallarhonestly, don’t underestimate the resilience of your body, just have the courage to provide it with what it needs now. Bless your persistence, be well asap.⚓🙏🌱

    • Yes indeed! I know enough from personal experiences that STRESS is one of the mother of all diseases.🙏❤✝️☮

    • That’s great! I wish I focused more on stress and nutrition when I was younger. Now I’m in my 50’s trying to get healthy

    • @@salvalopeIt’s never too late. The fact that your trying to start now is great. I’m sure there are some in their 60s and 70s wishing they knew this information in their 50s. 😊

  4. I was misdiagnosed at the hospital. I told them I disagreed with their decision but they wouldn’t listen. After 2 treatments, I didn’t need, they announced they were wrong, didn’t know what was wrong and were going to experiment more! I ended up being escorted out of the hospital by security because I was livid at one doctor who continually hurt me. Stress from the medical system galore.

    • Thank you for telling your story since it reinforces my desire to stay the heck away from doctors and hospitals.

    • As an agent Orange baby who has been sick since I was an infant with multiple autoimmune problems, non HPV cervical cancer and a host of food allergies, I’ve been the butt of dr jokes and told my problems are “in my head” since I was a kid. In the early 90’s it took the drs at USF medical school (Dr Seleznick I’m speaking about you🙄🫤) 2 YEARS to diagnose me with celiac disease. 2 years of me telling them every time I fast for a test I feel FINE. 2 years of going from 105lb young woman to 82lb skeleton and being accused of being anorexic…told to my face “I’m an allergy specialist, I would *know* if it’s something you’re eating”🫤Meanwhile, a small intestinal biopsy finally confirmed the truth. I’m currently struggling through probable MG and being told “you can voluntarily cross your eyes” as I can no longer drive due to ptosis and diplopia and extreme fatigue. Even WITH the help of people like Dr Berg, Dr Ken Berry and other low carb supporters. I take care of myself because no one else will do it. I’m a study in how the medical system treats sick young people. My first abnormal Pap smear was *before* I was sexually active. Try getting a Dr to believe that one🙄🫠Thankful I found one but they was back in the day when pre-existing conditions got you denied for treatment. It took me 2 YEARS to get approved for a hysterectomy at 34 due to invasive cervical cancer. You HAVE to be your own advocate or they will kill you QUICK😕

  5. Im 64 and former couch pillow seeking health and fitness through Dr.Berg-
    Intermittent fasting is key-
First meal noon- last meal 6 pm= 18 hours of fasting!
Autophagy cleans out your defective mitochondria!
    ❤love yourself!

    • Do you do this fast everyday? I’m 66 and have been doing the same for a couple of years (18hours) but just twice a week, I have definitely felt the benefits along with diet change leaning towards keto

    • Intermittent fasting is great, unfortunately it’s almost impossible for me to do when waking up @ 4am to start work @ 6am. My body wants food:)

    • I’ve been taking a Vitamin D3 that comes with K2 as well. It’s 5,000 IU of D3 and 90 mcg of K2. I just ordered 2 bags of Vitamin D3 with K2 from a different manufacturer and the dosage is higher in the new D3 that I ordered. Still waiting on it to be delivered. The new stuff I have coming is from a company called Vitalboost and the dosage is 10,000 D3 and 200 mcg of K2 and it comes with coconut oil that helps your body to absorb it better. You get 300 capsules per bag and each capsule is that amount.

    • @cyang7850 Dr Berg has said in many other videos 20,000 to 50,000+ I.U. for D3 but my vitamins come WITH K2 in it.
      For B1, I take 500 to 1000 mg.

    • @@DynoSauR4Truth that’s a great method. I did a discreet method of D3 and separate K2(MK7) doses. Reason is that I can control each dose. I’m doing 40K IU of D3 and 600 mcg of K2 at this time

    • @@cyang7850 depends on goal. The ratio is 100mcg of K2 for each 1,000 of D3. (Edit: 100 to 1 ratio, not 10K to 1)

  6. He mentioned stress,by far the worst thing that impacts our health. We can literally make ourselves sick if we don’t know how to relax!

    • It just makes me wonder how much that affects the health stats we’ve seen since 2020. I know I had things like psoriasis come out of nowhere that were from stress overload. I suppose it could’ve been shedding but I’ve been so stressed.

    • @mamandapanda185 I never had it, then suddenly my body was covered with it. I left my cheating husband and it completely disappeared! Stress plays a huge part on our health!

    • Stress changes our biochemistry, realeses stress hormones…and this affects long term our bodies.
Even acute stress…or chronic or both.
Also, stress depletes rapidly all our nutrients.
Go figure if the stress is prolonged, decades even and acute also in the mix.
A little stress here and there is maybe ok.
But i think, most have of everything to much stresses.

  7. I’m watching from Sierra Leone, West Africa. Since I’ve started following Dr Berg my health has changed alot. Thanks alot Doc.

  8. Dance hard
    Sing loud
    Sleep soundly
    Eat healthy heartily
But stop eating all the time
    Love strongly
    Smile broadly
    Hug warmly
    Share gladly
    Walk often
Walk farther than you ever have
    *Laugh*
    Stay busy but recreate too.
Sometimes do nothing! Just lay out and lounge
    Do your hobbies
    Learn to do something new
    Change your own car oil
    Do things you like
Better yet, Do things you love

    …..and, LISTEN TO DR. BERG!😊

  9. FINALLY someone saying to do the opposite of what your doc says about nutrition. I have done the opposite of what my doc recommended and I have never felt better.

  10. I am not making up but this is true. I have to switch my primary care physician due to the fact that I was not willing to take BP Medication. Now I am for three months 124/76 BP. Thank you Dr berg ❤

    • I take magnesium glycinate 400mg daily and was able to stop taking Atenolol after 25 yrs..my bp is 118/63 now just with taking magnesium 😊

    • I have a friend who was on all sorts of unneeded meds..thanks to me, he is off all but one…(note that he replaced things like adding cayenne pepper, and msm etc) and working on replacing that. His hair is growing back and he went down two pant sizes…and has no pain in his legs. I’ve been into this since I was 19 and Im Dr Berg’s age

  11. I made a plan 2 years ago to move out of the city, it is about to happen this spring. I don’t like the smell, sounds, traffic and look off the city. I have what could be a stressful job on the phones, but I use stress relieving techniques daily to chill out while I’m working. People be nice to those you interact with, think about the fact they are trying to help you, also don’t interrupt those that are trying to help you. Basically some take your stress out on someone else. Calm yourself before you call. Thanks

  12. I went to a doctor for help weening off of the pain medicines they had put me on for rheumatoid arthritis. He made the assumption, despite what I was telling him, that I was after more pain medicines. There is the problem. Doctors look at you and assume. They make appearance-based assumptions on you, and THEY DO NOT LISTEN! So, I fired that doctor. Next, I did research. I went into meditation, healthy eating, and walked a lot. As a result, I got off the pain medicines and my rheumatoid cleared up. I cut back on nearly all my medicines. In the end, you know your body. You are your best doctor. Healthy lifestyle and exercise are the best medicine. Popping pills is the wrong direction. Doctors should be there to help in emergencies. They should not be pill distributers.

    • @@jdamommio I started with a total fast for 3 days. Then I went to a 1 meal a day plan for a couple weeks. After that I went to a 2 meal a day plan and have been on that for about 3 years now. I almost completely cut out sugar. I still use a little in my coffee and just an occasional dessert. I haven’t eaten any fast food at all for years. It’s poison. I only eat occasionally at a restaurant, usually selecting something light when I have to go. I weened myself off of years of Tramadol, it took a few months of slow weening since the doctor wouldn’t help me. You have to go slow, or you can have severe physical consequences. They also had me on a biologic injection. I quit that cold turkey and feel better for it. I have 2 dogs and i walk 3-4 miles a day with them, stretch a lot, and do light weights every other day. I only eat natural foods and meats. This regimen worked for me. I think it may help some people. I’m not saying don’t use a doctor. If you have one who listens and will help you find a healthier way, so much the better. My doctor just didn’t listen. So, I took my health into my own hands. I can only suggest what worked for me. I am not telling you what to do. Do some research. The choices are yours.

    • @@jdamommio I cannot tell you what to do. I can only say what worked for me. Healthy eating. No fast food. Very light meals. Intermittent fasting. Lots of vegetables, meat, and some carbs, but a lot less than I used to eat. Less sugar. Exercise, stretching, lowering stress, light weights. I also found a doctor who finally listened and was ok with my less pills and more holistic lifestyle. I am not saying don’t go to the doctor. Find a doctor who listens. I lost 50 pounds and had a lot less joint pain and more energy.

    • I agree!! I believe that my husband was given way too many medications daily for 20+ years!! He passed away in July! Every time he
saw a doctor( pulmonologist, allergist, cardiologist etc..,) he was given prescription meds instead of curing him!! I can’t stand going to
Doctors as I don’t trust them!!!

    • I’ve got RA for a year now. I’m so careful with my diet but I just can’t kick the Prednisolone steroids. Taking 3.5 mg daily this week and can barely move. Are you taking any nsaids? They want me on Remicade or Humira and I find those drugs terrifying.

    • @@heatherthompson3670When I detoxed off of NSAIDS it was the worst pain—worse than detoxing off the opiates & the methotrexate. I’ve had RA for years. Listening to Berg, I’ve totally reversed it. The Prednisone & NSAIDs are TERRIBLE for you. I’m sorry but your body can’t heal with these narcotics… & they are narcotics. So when I quit NSAIDS (took them like candy btw, always in pain), it felt like glass im my joints breaking. Don’t know how I made it through those 2 weeks. Pot can help—at least pot & kratom are natural/herbal… for me, I feel like all the synthetic manmade crap is terrible. Listen to Berg. I would immediately start taking like 10 of his 10,000 IU Vitamin D3 & K2 (100K iu for therapeutic—you want to clear out that cortisol), & magnesium. Maybe you can sleep through the detox, but if I were you, I’d really try…. Like you don’t have to cold turkey it like I always did, you can try to step down, but for gods sake get that crap out of your system. Feed it real food (proteins, fats: meat), & REST. Make sure to take HUGE doses of Vit D, Magnesium glycinate, probably Zinc. His supplements are the cleanest, nicest… get his electrolyte drink, that helps (your potassium probably off) Good Luck & godspeed.

  13. 66, no meds, sleep very well, 2 meals a day, local honey every day, apple cider vinegar every day, elderberry syrup every day, oil pulling every morning, food grade diatomaceous earth 2-3 times/week, take supplements every day D3, C, zinc, magnesium, liquid B complex, quercetin and chlorella …. I feel amazing and have tons of energy! I walk 3-5 miles/day too. Thank you Dr Berg, you have influenced me a ton! ❤❤❤😊🎉

    • OIL PULLING IS DONE MORNING IN EMPTY STOMACH
THE OIL SHOULD BE PURE ORGANIC COCUNUT OIL or SESAME OIL. ONE OF THE BEST
METHOD TO REMOVE TOXIC FROM THROAT and MOUTH

    • @@sakthimilstoremilltec1709 do you mean, these oils are the first thing you consume after you get up in the morning? Or is there a more specific protocol?

    • @@tdeo2141 you put the oil in your mouth, swirl it, gargle it, for 1-3 minutes, then spit it out. That’s what at least I’ve heard. I do that and it’s awesome.

  14. Well, I turned 50 this year, and for the last five years, I have worked at Amazon without a day on sick leave. I have taken magnesium with zinc for the last 3-4 years, supplement Vit D in the autumn and winter, I don’t use a lot of salt and am involved in physical activities. Way to go!

  15. The fact that we get free videos from Dr. Berg on YouTube is priceless; keeping the education and knowledge alive. 🙏🙏🙏

    • @@Drbergi take 5000IU of D3. Im 57. Is that not enough?
Do i take it together at the same time with K2 or take them separate at different times of the day? I hear mixed info out there.

Whats happening that i cant comment on your videos sometimes, thats why i had to come inside someone elses comment to see if it posts. Lets see.

    • @@MilenaKoncar A few medical websites indicate to take both the D3 and K2 together, best for breakfast or lunch (when we’re usually synthesizing D3 from the sun). Your dosage seems ok but blood testing will indicate any deficiencies especially if you work with a licensed nutritionist / functional medicine doctor.

  16. Thank you Dr. Berg, i grew up in Europe and we were very poor so we only ate the food that u talk about. Till this day i can’t eat junk food or much sweets. The sweets i eat is dark chocolate 90%.
I am 73 and have no heath issues.
