How can you stop prediabetes from developing into diabetes? Let’s talk about it.

There is something that occurs before prediabetes called insulin resistance. This is a condition where your body is resisting high levels of insulin. High insulin levels are created from consuming a high-carb diet.

Insulin resistance will keep your blood sugar levels appearing normal until you develop prediabetes. However, you’ll still experience symptoms of insulin resistance.

Eventually, though, the beta cells that make insulin will not work as well, and you’ll develop prediabetes. If no changes are made, prediabetes can become diabetes very quickly. At this point, you have insulin resistance and high blood glucose (diabetes).

Symptoms of diabetes:
• Frequent urination
• Brain fog
• Feeling tired after eating
• Frequent eating
• Cravings for carbs
• Tingling sensation in the hands or feet
• Vision problems
• Kidney problems
• Fatty liver
• Belly fat

The typical treatment for diabetes is medication. However, the dietary consumption of sugar and carbs is often overlooked.

The best ways to prevent diabetes naturally:
1. Replace the carbs in your diet with fat and protein
2. Do intermittent fasting
3. Consume low-starch vegetables
4. Get plenty of trace minerals, B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin D
5. Exercise

    • In my area and also not knowing anything about my mother’s side cause of her being adopted. Especially when you don’t have transportation it’s hard getting the things you need for certain items.

    • @@skorpers I’ve been eating a lot of leafy green salads spinach, dark green kale with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, avocado, boiled eggs and chicken. Those are my favourite combinations. I sprinkle lemon juice, bit of olive oil and some nutritional yeast on my salads. I do need to expand my food options a little bit though as eating the same foods can get a bit boring.

  10. Thanks Dr Berg for all your advice I have lost 50 pounds in the last three months from 275 to 225 by doing keto and intermittent fasting with some exercise and walking.

  11. This man speaks truth. My AIC was 5.8 in February. I simply cut back on my carb intake and was intermittent fasting everyday and it went down to 5.4 by August and I also lost 20lbs

    It’s literally free to do this lol why would you not?

    • I barely exercise. I go to the gym maybe once a week. My carb meal for the day is chicken and rice. Eating rice 3 times a day for years was pushing my AIC higher

      Also my morning coffee used to have creamer and 3 sugars. Now I have my morning coffee completely black, no sugar. I have my “fun” coffee later in the day as a dessert

      I went from 152lbs to 131lbs in like 3-4 months by making these simple adjustments. I love that these changes require very little effort and it’s basically free to do this. You have really nothing to lose

  12. Thanks for the reminder. I was on a keto diet for 18 mos and felt the best I had in years. For various reasons, life happens I guess, I fell off the diet last March and gained a lot of weight back and returned to where I was. I am convinced I need to get back on the keto bandwagon.

  13. Sound advice from Berg. I use all of these things, but the 2 most effective things that worked for me is intermittant fasting and reducing my sugar and starches. My intake of rice, sweets, potatos, and breads were killing me.

  14. Another great video from Dr Berg. I am trying to reverse my pre-diabetes. On week 11 of Keto /Intermittent Fasting now. It was tough to start with but I have found that Dr Bergs videos have really encouraged me.

  15. For those of you new to Dr Berg; I’ve been following his advise for years and he changed my life, now I take ZERO medications and have more energy than ever. My doctor at one point told me “whatever you’re doing keep doing it” Thank you Dr Berg!!

    • By sugar you mean refined sugar. What if I want to eat something sweet. Can I make the sweet with jaggery instead of sugar

    • @vanitagomes3794  I ate lots of raw veggies, fruit and I drink only water and since June I’ve lost over 40 lbs. I cut out refined sugars (cakes, cookies, sugary drinks) anything processed. If I want to drink pop, I drink sparkling water. My choice of meat is salmon; I sear it and finish in the oven with sautéed kale or spinach. It’s such a wonderful life changing experience.   17. I was pre-diabetic and overweight and I started healthy keto and ive dropped over 50lbs and my bloodwork is better than it was 20 years ago. Im 47. 5″10 and 156lbs. Down from 210. Ill be eating this way the rest of my life.

  18. I did it! Literally 1 point away from diabetes, went keto. 50lbs fell off in 6 mos. That was 1.5 yrs ago. Today I am more fit than when I was 25! Doc says “whatever you are doing, keep doing it.”! My blood work is great. I work out and feel amazing. 😊

    • My doc didn’t know either… seems the standard American diet is ingrained in the industry. even the mediterranean diet is too high in carbs. That diet was pushed by hospital nutritionist and it didn’t do anything to affect the condition until going on keto. Saving $400USD/mth in medication costs now
